I'm actually currently playing Ethel McCormick in a long-running version of this musical and the only advice I can give is go for your solos, they're there to point out just how done with Bomont she is, and while she's a sassy character don't forget she's also a mother. turn the sass down occasionally and make her the protective mother and woman desperate to make her life in this new town livable. in the beginning when she is first speaking to Shaw be sure to know that's at that point she is still trying to make a good impression and fit in, and ren will be hellbent on embarrassing her.
