My anatomy is getting better but I always struggle with the perspective and somewhat size proportion.
@sszura
@sszura 3 года назад
1 good tip is get something like the shape of a can or a water bottle .. now drawing it ... First is draw a smaller circle ,, thats where the feet of the person is (Infront of the small circle) Second draw a bigger one than the first .. that's where the head is Also remember the wider the size gap of the 2 circles .. the more dynamic? the pose is Now after drawing the circles Connect them with 2 lines Now break what you drew into three parts Bottom (1st) - feet to legs Middle (2nd) - hips /torso . Shoulder? Top (3rd) - shoulder?? Neck head
@purgatorian1616
@purgatorian1616 3 года назад
Bodies no matter how tall, short, etc. usually have really similar proportions to one another. Even if a person is wayyyy taller than another person, they’re still gonna have to have the same proportions to balance everything out. This is how I usually figure out proportions with my characters, when I draw: Torso length between characters more or less never change, and so do heads, unless a character is say a giant, a dwarf, or a kid (the only thing that really changes for normal bodies are neck length and width which makes the head look shrunken or enlarged) The elbow aligns with the belly button and the wrist is somewhere in the middle of the upper thigh, the hand ends a little bit above the knee (you can actually check this yourself by looking at yourself with a mirror) Legs are usually the same length as your upper body (from the head to the waist) there’s not exactly a way to divide the leg from upper and lower but generally it’s right at the middle. Feet are the size of your forearm most of the time. It shocked me with how true it is irl and I usually use the forearms of characters to see what the size of their feet are. I suggest looking up Marc Brunet here on RU-vid, he’s helped me a lot with anatomy and a lot of other stuff. Hope this helps!

I think this is one of the best videos I’ve watched on anatomy. After I realized I needed to actually practice anatomy consistently to improved I then realized that I needed to break everything down to shapes that my brain understood. I was too busy looking at the way everyone else broke it down than to do it the way that made sense to me. (Not saying that studying others way of breaking down the body isn’t helpful, it can be!) I loved this video. I put it on while working on my own art and it distracted me 😂

Thank you so much, I don't know why but that trick with starting at the torso instead of the head made my art look 100% better. The other stuff also really helped.

If you're a complete beginner, be careful with these kinds of videos, really. Even though you're simplifying the shapes, it does not mean you're going to make it properly. Most likely you gonna fail and thats completely fine. People in those videos they are very good at drawing already, so they forget how its like the mindset of a complete beginner and how it works. This is just a reminder, don't feel bad or sad about it if you can't make it, it feels like its a easy job, but its not.

Watching your videos gives me confidence to use reference, I bearly use reference because I always felt guilty of "copying" but I've started to use reference and my poses have been improving little by little!

thanks for this! I find getting started is always the hardest... but I understand what they mean by "practice" , but they never give you a practical answer on how to do so lololol. I really like the references you used for your study, where did you find them?

Thank you SO much. After watching this video, I spent two hours doing the same thing, but I got the pose references from magazines because I don't do digital art. I've been struggling with anatomy for so long, not even the pose figurines helped. You single-handedly taught me anatomy in eleven minutes. I owe you.

I've been revisiting my anatomy lately and I could already feel myself burning out because I told myself I'd memorize the skeleton and muscle group. Boy was I overcomplicating things - this is a great way to tackle anatomy.

@estefaniaicardi
@estefaniaicardi 3 года назад
there's a lot of tutorials in yt but i think the best option is to look through a large number of artists and pick little things you really like from their art and implement it to your art!
@thamrew676
@thamrew676 3 года назад
At the start it might seem like your style ain't original but it is! Everyone's born with their own unique artstyle whether you like it or not. You will just need to develop it by implementing stuff you like from other artists art! (Like with what the guy above me said).
@fisheraser

find a ton of artists you like and take little things from their art and add them to your own! at least that how i found mine. i really like anime art style but i wanted a more anime-cartoony style so i looked at the mob psycho 100 art style and the studio ghibli art style and a ton of other artists who draw similar to that. it is very helpful! i made a little thing in google notes with each artist i want to draw like and with images of some of their art. its super useful for when im in the middle of art block

work on fundamentals- style will come naturally, dont worry too much about it or else you'll find yourself not improving for awhile; speaking from experience.

I used to think the same thing. It took me a while but out of the blue I had my own drawing style. I didn't notice but I took things like eyes from a tutorial book, or legs from myself? Its something that you discover overtime and it happens at different paces for everyone. If you don't find yours for a while, that's fine. As long as you have fun drawing :)

This video was actually so helpful in teaching how to study anatomy! I'm pretty beginner level, and most people usually just say to look at references and study those but you actually showed us how to study them in a way that's easy to understand :) Again, thank you so much for this video, it was really helpful and I feel,,,, less scared of studying anatomy now :))

I know this video is from last year, but im doing a Diploma in animation, and next week we are doing 3D animation, getting to the end of the year, i think we are even designing characters and making 3d models. Seeing this is really amazing and i need to learn anatomy badly, this is gonna be a big help as i still have trouble with it. I really want to pass and hopefully go onto a bachelors
