Learning to draw in the Age of AI  

Dr. Xu believes AI is just a tool for artists to use , AI will make you more creative , more efficient . AI belongs to the people who knows how to use AI. AI is a new revolution , but it won’t kill the arts and artists 😆
Dr. Xu expressed his opinion in his 2023 Comic Con class as below : ( this is his 12th class invited by San Diego International Comic- Con 👍)
[The title of my lecture is "Learning to draw in the Age of AI." It primarily focuses on the challenges, crises, and opportunities we face with the advent of AI.
AI's arrival was abrupt and indeed brought many negative impacts. For instance, some artistic and design jobs were taken over by AI, leading to strong opposition from many artists, including discussions held during anime conventions where they unanimously expressed their dissent. The main reasons for their opposition can be summarized into two points: first, AI taking away their jobs, and second, they perceive AI as a form of cheating, stealing artists' work, which is actually a misunderstanding of the technology.
My lecture aims to explore the positive aspects of AI's influence on us. While AI may replace many low-level artistic jobs, it also brings some advantages to artists. For example, it facilitates the collection of materials, sparks creativity, and assists in developing new artistic styles. Furthermore, the emergence of AI will inevitably give rise to new forms of art, even though we cannot predict what they will be at present.
For ordinary people, the emergence of AI represents an opportunity to engage in art more rapidly, just as the invention of the camera led to many people becoming photographers.
AI's appearance will elevate the overall artistic level of society, but it does not necessarily imply an improvement in human creativity. Similar to how the introduction of cars does not make one a faster runner, AI cannot completely replace an individual's artistic abilities; learning remains essential. Therefore, in the conclusion of my lecture, I will briefly introduce my "smart" method, which employs scientific approaches to learn art. This method is also an invention of the 21st century.]
