Hey! I was searching the internet for a video like this just to ask: HOW DO YOU GET THIS AWESOME DRY AND GROWLING BASSTONE?? I play an jazz bass bass myself and I just don't know how to get this sound. If I play it near the bridge it doesn't sound that full at all.

Question from an ignorant... what's the purpose of the metallic .."slab"(?) that partly covers the string? is it just to rest the thumb?
