I never said much about Catra in my comments, because, honestly, I'm not sure how the show manages to turn people around on her. I never outright hated her; they did a good job of making everyone a full and complicated character, her most of all, but yeah, I wasn't all aboard the ship either. Then, I was suddenly. I think my favorite episode, Shot in the Dark had a lot to do with it.

Personally i loved catra from the beginning to the end (sorry not sorry will always be a simp for female villains), but in other shows i have fallen in love with characters i initially hated and it’s such a great feeling. I become so attached to those little nuisances ❤️ It’s a special bond

I swear all the hate for Catra in the earlier episodes was just transferred to Horde Prime and festered

I didn’t really like Catradora when I watched She ra for the first time, on account of feeling like it came kinda out of nowhere. Watching this compilation of your reactions is really showing how much of that was my autistic as fuck brain not picking up on obvious signals 😅

6:18 This acceptance of change is, honestly, what I love most about this arc. There's so many people who would take an absolutist position one way or the other, but accepting a character who has a genuine arc and being willing to forgive them is more nuanced than 99% of the fans of any fandom I've ever met. And 99% of real people dealing with real situations, too.

For better or worse, I enjoyed the entire journey with Catra and Adora. Catra was close to Adora at the start, but their upbringing from Shadow Weaver and the circumstances in which Adora left the horde pushed Catra down the path of villainy. Sadly, Catra couldn't just go with Adora because it would just confirm that Catra's self-worth is tied to Adora. As the series progressed, Adora and Catra's relationship worsened as they became more and more like enemies. A major turning point started when Shadow Weaver used Catra to escape the horde, only to go to Adora. Catra was sent by Hordak to the crimson waste with the intention of her not coming back. Her time at the crimson waste started to change Catra for the better until she learned Adora about Shadow Weaver. Learning that Shadow Weaver left her for Adora just hurt and angered Catra to the point that she made horrible decisions that just caused the rift between Catra and Adora to reach the point that I honestly thought would never be fixed. It literally took Catra being at her lowest point that she was on her path towards redemption, which in turn gave Adora hope of fixing their relationship. Once they became friends again, Adora and Catra's relationship began to get better. Shadow Weaver almost ruined their relationship, but in the end, Adora and Catra's love for each other saved Etheria and the universe. I'm ultimately glad that Adora and Catra are a couple in the end.

I like catra, but catra s5 is disconnected from s1-4 for me still. She was such a well written villain, the transition just doesn't work for me😢
