What was it like ine regards to pressure? I'm keen to take my R1 out there but I just want to get out and get a feel for the track, I'm by no means a racer. Do you get to go solo at first or do they just throw a bunch of people on the track?

Usually all first timers will start in entry level Red group no matter what the skill level (each group can be as large as 20 riders, there are 3 more groups above) , where you will be taught about riding on the track which is very different to riding on the road. They go through everything you need to know in the induction meeting before the day starts. First time on the track you will be a bit nervous. It's important to go at your own pace and don't get caught up on chasing anyone. Focus only on what you're doing. Your mirrors and lights are taped up. Bike handling is greatly affected by tyres and tyre pressures. If not running slicks and tyre warmers having a good track day tyres is good, like Pirelli DIABLO SUPERCORSA SC V3 or Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa 2. If not running tyre warmers always take the first lap slowly so the tyres warm up especially in the morning where the track could be still cold. Learning to look through the corners to where you're going and not following riders in front will keep you on the track. Learning to front brake trail braking to the apexes on corners will help improve your skills. find out more here. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063964420402

Awesome, cheers. I had a 2005 R6 as an every day vehicle for a few years until it was stolen. Absolutely loved taking that bike through the mountains, it just handled beautifully. I'm not really sold on the R1 to be honest but that's because I never really get to use any of it's potential on the road. I'll have to take it out and have a go on the track but even though I've been on it for a little bit now, I don't really feel at one with that bike yet, it still makes me a little nervous.
