it took me two years (seasons) to learn skate on my classic gear, but i feel really happy when i finally free from the side trail! next season i am buying my skate gear.... lets just hope we still have enough snow in Minnesota despite the global warming.
Excellent video. I'm torn cos I want to do the xc skate ski. Currently I have early 70's classic style equipment, wooden skis are well worn and wider than todays classical skis. I've tried skating on those and works but need really good conditions and uphill is not possible but then I haven't tried glide waxing them. I'm tempted to get some shorter classic style with modern boots and bindings and using them for both styles. I ski for fitness and on groomed trails. Does that even make sense to you or should I bite the bullet and crack open the mattress and get two sets of dedicated equipment ? Or should I just skip classic and go with the skating style as I think it's a better workout. Still torn :) Great video though.
I am not sure of your physical conditioning and balance on one ski but if these are good I would go for a dedicated set of skate skis. Trying to skate on wooden skis from the 1970's would be a challenge. But be prepared for a steep learning curve ...if you get them and are having trouble you might want to join our on line programme for some help. Email k2nicol@gmail.com for details.
Yes you can. He mention it in the video when he says "if you have waxless skis..." Waxless includes skis with skins. I skate in my classic skis which have skins
@@TimSikma Hi! Did it worked to skate skiing with classic skis ? I bought classic skis one year ago (At that time, I didn’t know there were two different types of CC-skis) and now I regret a lil’ bit ;/.
I have Fischer Twin Skin classic skis and Fischer Skate skis. Obviously, skating on the skate skis is much more efficient and easier. However, if I need to skate a bit on the Skin skis for whatever reason (e.g. lack of tracks) for a limited period, this is possible as well, but slower and more energy is needed. So to just give it a try - why not.
