I really love your videos, often showing the problem is not the dog but the owner givinfg a bad answer to a situation : not correcting, being tense, etc.

Brilliant! Great owner, and beautiful dog. What you're saying towards the end about classical conditioning of "other dog appearing - sweet - means I get what I want": That's the first time I heard someone explain that method. It's also what got my highly reactive young Estrela to be cool with other dogs barking at her from behind fences. And to this day, she still looks to me with that smile on her face when we passed a particularly vicious barker - as if to say, "look, haven't I done a good job staying calm - fancy offering a treat for that?" Wouldn't have believed this works; but it really does, even for very handler-hard dogs.

Lovely video and great explanation of balanced training and prong collars. Prong collars are great tools when used correctly as are corrections in general. This dog is a great dog and for a czech shepherd she was very chill... Haha... I have the same black czech sheperd she's amazing❤️. Keep up the good work👌

What's the tug toy called that you pop under your arm for her? My 19 month old blue Staffy Rascal was attacked at 11, 12 and 13 months old by older male dogs and the last attack the dog attacked me too, it completely changed his confidence and he would try run away every time he saw a dog behind him. He has gotten less fearless over the last few months but more reactive. Food doesn't keep his focus outside so I'd like a toy like this for our walks now as right outside our new house (despite being by a main road) every dog roams off lead and it's so frustrating for me and for him. Last week a local 10 month old collie sadly lost his life after 2 off lead staffies attacked the puppy, puppy escaped on to the road and was hit by a car, I'll admit this has added to my fear as the owner never came forward. I walk Rascal around midnight to avoid all these off lead situations but now my thoughts are this owner in hiding will walk her dogs later to stay hidden and I'm worried about coming across them as Rascal won't stand a chance against 2 dogs 😥 so I feel day time is going to be safer but the toy might be worth keeping his attention on me if we see other dogs off lead.

The guidance in this particular video has been perfect. I feel like my dog is in a very similar position to this GS, and the techniques of toy distraction are something I am going to try with my year old Labrador. Off lead he will happily play with other dogs, but on lead he seems to react in the same way as this GS. Hopefully I will have as much success as this. Another tool in the box! **EDIT** Just tried this technique and it worked well most of the time. Bit more work needed but a great improvement over just walking away form the situation. Thank you!!

My 17 month old Male unneutered dog is very nervous and barks aggressively around other dogs. I suffer from m.s. but am mobile and have learnt having a dog is the best way to keep mobile. I previously had a bitch so am not used to dogs...my dog is wonderful most of the time. Just glitches around other dogs now he is muzzled and has to be on a lead outside in public as he is not well enough trained to be off lead.😢 what's the best thing I can do to calm him with other dogs again. When he was younger he was fine with other dogs and happily played with them.

I always felt guilty about using a prong collar on my german shephard...but before using it she was lunging at cars people barking at dogs it was awful and she's so strong...I've adjusted the prong and bought it up her neck more she walks better but still goes after dogs but it's me I get so nervous when I see one in the distance it affects her so will have to work on this

My female Pitt/Staffy acts VERY similar. I'm wondering - can you keep the prong collar on when we go for our runs/walks? She heels beautifully when we run, unless she runs into a dog in our neighborhood that has been an a$$ to her and shows aggression then she is ALL hyped up. I've actually tripped over her while running bc she cuts me off and lunges. Love then content - thank you!!

Can you read minds? This is exactly what i needed. I have an 8 month old male black german sheperd, mom from DDR-line and dad from czech working line. He is extremely leash-reactive towards dogs and sometimes other animals. Ive been working hard on this issue ever since it started and ive gotten back some control but its still a long way to go. Since prong collars are illegal here i rely on a halti which definitely is helping a ton - not at last because he is massive and very strong and im a short woman haha edit: hey at least he can get actually pretty close to the other dog there, mine starts acting out as soon as he sees the dog which can be a football field away

I can’t try this toy technique with my collie because once he knows I have the toy and it’s under my arm, he’ll continue to jump at me, walk backwards in front of me and circle around me trying to get it. Couldn’t get him back into a heel if I tried. The toy being out makes it worse for me.

Yeah I would suggest swapping out the slip lead for a prong or a halti. We heel trained our collie using the slip, then continued to use it for walks every day, but he also reactive so whenever he saw a dog he’d lunge and choke himself out on the slip. We were worried so we’ve stopped using the slip for walks. Our collie has also recently been diagnosed with mild inflammation in the throat and the vet said it can be caused by pulling on the lead. So I’m glad we’ve ditched the slip now and with the prong, the weight is evenly distributed so no danger of him choking or causing more inflammation

Youre an awesome trainer Will. Britains equal to Tom Davis for sure. I dont have instagram but im interested in a session at your sanctuary. I have a big powerful long haired gsd that is 5 months old. Hes excellent for his age but very boistrous when meeting other dogs. No aggresion in him at all just very dom3unant type of play which gets me a little concerned because id hate for him to be attacked when his intention is purely excited and boistrous. Id like to just shape him a little better so once his recall is spot on i know hes going to play nice if he is approached. He is on a longline daily as i dont fully trust his listening skills when thete are distractions but id love fir him to have that freedom to run free of the longline. Where can i find out how to get a session if i dont have instagram please?

@@oui2826 hey @oui. He does have 2 perfect older role model dogs tbh. 1 is a female gsd thats 11 and certainly doesnt take no messing and the other is a Belgian mali that is ex military with impecable training. Problem is he only sees them 1 day a week as my brother has his own dog walking business and has little free time. The mali has had my pup in a 'friendly' warning by the muzzle on one occasion and my boy has a bit more respect for him since then. It is just so excited to see the other dog. Hes not once ever bared his teeth at another dog and ive never heard him growl at all. Hes just a big bundle of long haired happy fluff lol. I do agree that sometimes its the harsh lesson that does the teaching, if i can avoid that harsh lesson and teach him a different way of introducing himself then id like to look into implementing that. Thank you for your insight ☺

@remyrichardson9263
@remyrichardson9263 2 года назад
@@oui2826 once the initial excitement of seeing them again has subsided he is a dream pup. He follows the mali (male) around and pretty much copies everything he does. The female he tends to watch from a little bit of a distance because she has no time for a pup (shes a puppy mill rescue shepherd from spain). My pup idolises them both and is eager to copy them. Indoors tho my pup doesnt leave the mali alone. Constantly wanting to lick his jowels . The mali has bad athritis now and some war wounds so hes not up for being pulled around so after a little bit of interaction indoors i seperate them with a baby gate to give the mali some space.

Question: Great videos and really helpful. Our GS has developed an agression issue, only with smallish dogs. Started with cocker poos but has expanded a bit. Obviously becomes a big issue off lead. Otherwise a lovely and (fairly) well trained dog. GS sometimes lunges/runs at them growling aggressively and wants to pin them down. Is the solution always on lead training? Does this also correct off lead? Is the method the same without a shock or spiked collar? Thanks for your help.

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us into His image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. We cannot purify ourselves, but Christ lived that perfect sinless, pure life and then allotted it to our "account". That's where our righteousness comes from. Not from any good, works that you or I could do. It is not based on the amount of good works we do. God starts the changes, He carries it on, and He completes it in those who let Him. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him, again, through His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if YOU had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, forgiveness, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER If you have any questions let me know
