Berbatov was a very rare kind of player, he made difficult things seem so effortless and the way he glided through the pitch was unique, definitely one of the most elegant footballers ever, his style made him special
@@godwinoyibo7237 Absolutely, that's another great one who did magical things look effortless. I find it impressive when tall players like Kanu, Ibrahimovic.. can have such ball control. It would be sad if they had a.. let's say, Lukaku's first touch.
Interesting fact about Faulk, when he moved to Chelsea, they realised that the man was a crowd puller, and to highlight this, put two small boys behind his goal, who were there to also distract the opposition. These boys would often collect and return the balls which went out of play behind the goal and hence, ball boys were born.
Pirlo could be easily on this list. No pace and power but still was a great dribbler and could get past people with ease. Not to talk about his other qualities...
Jeroen Verhoeven was a Dutch goalie who (not too long ago) even played for Ajax. Every time he would take a goal kick the crowd would slowly build up a 'woooooooow' and scream 'pizza!' as soon as he hit the ball. If you Google him you'll get the reference.
you missed Ozil, he couldn't last for 70 minutes without exhausting himself. and I disagree with Berbatov, you can call him lazy, but he should not be considered to be on the list. He has a decent pace and body strength to do what he did, and he was rarely sub off for lacking stamina. there is a difference between lazy and not being athletic. just because he focus himself to time his run, it doesn't mean he is not athletic.
Ozil actually run the most in the team and amongst the most in the league. That the reason he barely last 70 mins and beside if the opponents managed to stop him for effecting the game before he was sub, they would still able to do that when he was tired. In his first season, he ate more hamburgers to put more body mass on. The whole thing about him being lazy is just a media meme. Same reason they complained about the mentality of any players of a losing team. Any players in the top level already have strong mentality.
lol Ronaldo on this list, even being over +90 kgs he was faster and stronger than 99% of the defenders He should be on top 5 of MOST athletic footballers
Elton is 5'1" and he still had a nice professional career? Definitely not unathletic. He had to overcome a lot every game to even compete with the pros.
When ronaldo was playing for Corinthians he had 115kg and 3 major knee injuries for many this is enough to even make a run in a park but this guy was so better than others that he got brazilian cup champion! He is playing with just pure talent
according to this video being athletic means not too short, not too tall, not too muscular, not too fat, not too thin, not eating fast food and not smoking.
Berbatov was perhaps the biggest shame out of them all. He could have been one of the greatest ManU legends and a legend for his national team if only he was a bit more serious about his work ethic.
I'd add Jimmy Greaves. He hated training and during a match would wander round with his marker, sledging him. Then suddenly he would take two quick steps and score a goal.
