Brother nothing strange on purchasing those because I’m about to do the same thing. I’m just hoping it doesn’t cost me an arm and leg. Congrats! I know how happy you feel.
I use Texas Custom Dies for all of my dies. They are great to work with. Also I heard the best way to keep leather on the glowforge is to completely drench it in water and it won't move, it also keeps it from being charred to badly. . Also learned the chrome tanned leather stinks to high heavens in the laser and really chars it bad.
Those guys are great. I have ordered several dies from them and they been fantastic. Great advice. I did hear of others wetting the leather. I’m definitely going to try it. I had someone reach out to me on Instagram. He uses chrome tan all the time in his glowforge. He found some chrome tan works better than others and some are real bad. He didn’t mention what he uses thoughts. I might test a few I have.
Small world, I searched how to sharpen clicker press dies and your video popped up. Our company is in Conway, NH. I order my clicker press dies from a local machine shop. They are solid steel and were very, very inexpensive. $80 to $100 each depending if your order 1-5. Anyway, I may have a clicker press to sell. It is a Hudson 20 ton unit. I just bought a new Hudson 22 ton unit new. If you want to try your dies with our machine, let me know and we can set up a time.
Thanks for sharing. I definitely search online for the Hudson. I’m new to the leather craft. Not to familiar with the different types of clickers. I definitely look into it.
I have 4 sets of non-custom clicker dies I purchased from eBay. They are embedded in baltic birch plywood and have worked great. I did the math on the custom made, all steel dies and unless you sell hundreds of items from each one it’s a loosing proposition. Mine averaged less than $80/ full set. I can recoup that fast. When they are $200-400 per individual die component... never.
Those dies are awesome. Great company from all accounts. Too rich for my blood right now. I'm just hoping I wake up early enough too get to tandy before they close. I need more leather before we go on quarantine. Ill be off for 3 weeks at a minimum before I rotate back in, maybe 5. I am blessed to work for a company that will continue to pay me while being home. I hope this corona fiasco runs its course quickly and with no more deaths.
Mark Cowan absolutely great company. Super friendly people over there. Definitely a scary time right now. I pray for a quick recovery. Thanks for watching Mark
@@OneLonelyPlumber keep pumping out the vids and Ill keep watching. On a side note, I have wanted to make youtube videos for last couple (3-4) years. Finding a good camera, editing software, free space, learning how to use said camera, software, etc always seemed like too big of a hurdle. You're doing a great job bro, enjoy/am envious of your videos.
