Leather craft. Making a leather belt by Northmen. This video shows the process how the leather belts are being made at Northmen Guild performed by our leather craftsmen Stephen. northmen.com / northmenguild / northmenguild
almost 6yrs ago when this video was made....i happened to run across it while looking up crafts and ways i could make money while living off grid. it was so inspiring to me and i have not stopped making leather items for outdoosmen since. i owe alot to the Northmen.
This is nothing less than art in motion. Thank you so much for sharing I agree Emily these videos are hypnotic. The music is soothing and I just love the hands when they carress and work the leather.
Sadly no saddle stitching here. Rivets are not as strong as waxed linen thread saddle stitched with two needles, fact. Also the best part of a hide is the butt , this belt was cut from the shoulder, where the fibers are not as compact, not as strong , hence a weaker belt. ( I'm a rather critical english saddler...so I do know what I'm talking about...).

I love it everything you guys do. It just remind me to my Dad. Who knows, who also makes it same tools just for fun for a hubby working with leathers . Just for us.
such a passion and fine craftmanship combined to give birth to items of awesomeness.. I hope i will soon be a proud owner of Neeman tools. Good job, keep on.
GOonTedgi It has help up 100% perfectly thus far. I've worn it every single day for the past 6 months, and nothing except very light imperfections and scuffs on the finish. Looks and works fantastic. My waist is a 32, and the size was exactly as I expected: perfect. Everyday High school use and I'm extremely happy. Get it.
All of your videos are just amazing. I watch them over and over. Every thing you gentlemen make look of the highest quality and built with utmost care. I was wondering, Can we get a close up of that beautiful knife?
muito bem feito o vídeo, as imagens, o ambiente e a composição das cores; mas faltou costura no couro e sua marca timbrada. Entretanto, perfeito tudo mais. Parabéns.
Nice, I made my own belt with my dads tools. Though he has a hole punch that you hand turn it in and it does the belt buckle holes one after the other and evenly. But the rest is pretty much what I done :D They last a long time too.
I had never seen anyone use a dremel for side burnishing before, is that a custom wooden disc? It gives me some ideas for experimentation. Great video.
First of all thanks for a wonderful video. Great craftsmanship! There was one think that caught my attention so to no avail I read all the comments here to see if anyone has questioned it. I'm curious about the leather itself, more particularly the flesh side. It looks like it has a backing of some sort, like it has been fuse interfaced. It not just a raw, fussy flesh side. I'm wondering if anybody knows what is that and is it home or factory / tannery applied? Thank you.
I’m only ten, but this is some amazing work. One day I might be a carpenter, etc, or I might be a American Soldier fighting for our country, helping other country’s and introduce God and Jesus to them. You guys have inspired me, but I have a few more years left.
