@@stevezytveld6585 Jim Lanell has some good videos on the double loop stitch. It's generally hard to bring back the original material because it dry rots most of the time and starts to crumble when you clean it.

@@AttackLineLeather Thanks so much! There's not enough of the edging to save, and I always knew it wouldn't survive the cleaning process. Unfortunately there's not enough left intact to figure out the braiding pattern (that reverse engineering trick of following the stitch backwards).

Hello. What you can do is add tooled panels to the purse. This would require gluing and stitching to attach it. Ive never done purses but i have done backpacks

@@AttackLineLeather is it because the leather has already been painted, conditioned, treated…etc? I really do appreciate your advice. My husband knows how stubborn I am, so I’ll let you know what a disaster it turns out to be when I forge ahead regardless of your expertise and experience. Yours is assuredly the right way to do it, but I know I’m gonna try it anyway. Maybe I can sew/glue a new piece over the mess I know I’ll make. I won’t try it on an expensive purse, but one I can do without. Your work is amazing. Thank you for your videos and tutorials. I have never worked with leather before, hence my try anything once attitude. But, I love leather cuff bracelets. That’s kinda what started the ball rolling. Those should turn out awesome!

@@my8isenough generally purses are made out of suede or chrome tan leathers which you wont be able to tool on. Veg tan leather is what is tooled on, so unless the purse is veg, it will be near impossible to do. Thanks for the kind words and good luck in your endevours
