Myha’la was absolutely perfect in LTWB. She embodied that brilliant, smartassed, but not disrespectful daughter that knows way too much but makes you proud. I have one of those. You know all your U of M tuition was well spent. It’s a phenomenal movie that respects the audience’s intelligence by not explaining every little detail.
I thought Makayla stood out, and not in a good way. Her dialogue was delivered ao awkwardly, i had to put the subtitles on. Could have been the lackluster script, but soemthing was just off with her.
wow.... the daughter was supposed to be the wife, in the book..?? i think i do prefer the film change. i like the dynamics better between Mahershalla and Myha'la AND between them and Julia and Ethan. having the 4 of them to just be two married couples would not feel as fresh as having a married couple and a father and daughter. i think i'm gonna watch it a second time.
I'm 10 minutes into this and found myself wanting to comment which I never do. That's how bad the music soundtrack for this movie is. Love those actors so we'll continue watching but trouble getting past the s***** soundtrack.
