We left CA for good last month. Enjoying the loneliness of WY now. With savings in taxes and housing, we'll spend freezing December and January in Hawaii.
I'm a native Californian, born and raised in Southern California but left when I joined the Army way back then. Don't believe all the BS about meteorites, super volcanoes, the 'Big One' earthquake, or tsunamis. You are not running from an improbable disaster, but rather going toward a better life away from the over-priced, over-crowded, over-regulated, and over polluted place that California has turned into. The smog has mostly cleared up in the 2000's, so many people driving Japanese cars. You can actually see the mountains and Catalina and San Clemente Island now. San Clemente used to be rare occurrence to see.
Yeah it's awesome in the one I moved to. No state taxes, beautiful mountains, streams without gunk in it, fresh air, natural whole foods and yes farms, kind people, and nobody gets shot on the streets.

Many people here that like California. And it is a beautiful state. But it's getting strange with so many laws and regulations. Well, good - somebody needs to stay and pay the taxes. Good luck people.
