Leaving Christianity for Judaism

Leaving christianity for judaism was probably the biggest decision we have ever made in our lives. Leaving christianity for Orthodox Judaism wasn't hard, but it definitely took time to adjust. We are beyond happy with the decision we have made for our family. This video was not made to make fun of Christianity. We have nothing against Christians, as most of our families are Christians and we love them dearly. We are just sharing our story about how we felt more connected to Orthodox Judaism.

We, too, discovered many of the things you have found regarding errors in Christianity, such as x-mas/Easter pagan holidays & Sunday worship that came from Roman Catholicism (RCC). We left mainstream Christianity many years ago and got back to our Hebrew Roots. Early on in church history, they began to teach that Paul the Apostle taught against the Law of God, but this is another error within Christianity that continues to be taught. “Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! May it never be, on the contrary, we uphold the law.” (Romans 3:31) “What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? Absolutely not! Certainly, I would not have known sin except through the Law. For indeed I would not have known what it means to desire something belonging to someone else if the Law had not said, "Do not covet"” (Romans 7:7). “So then, the Law is set-apart, and the commandment is set-apart, righteous, and good” (Romans 7:12). “For we know that the Law is spiritual--but I am unspiritual, sold into slavery to sin” (Romans 7:14). “For I delight in the Law of Elohim in my inner being” (Romans 7:22). Neither Paul, Stephen nor any of the Apostles ever taught against the Law of God/Moses, they upheld the Law in every way just as Yeshua did. If you read closely, it specifically states that they were “falsely accused of teaching against the Law of Moses”. If the accusation was false, they had to be teaching the Law as in tact. Acts 21:18-26 & Acts 6:8-15. All through Acts you see them observing Sabbath, taking vows, etc. It was the corrupt RCC that purported the Law was done away with and started a new religion apart from Torah/Tanakh….they were VERY anti-Semitic so they distanced themselves from anything “Jewish”, but in the process, distanced themselves from all Truth. There is a ministry in Israel called One For Israel who properly explains these things, plus they have exposed Orthodox/Rabbinical Judaism for the many commandments that have been added to and taken away from Torah/Tanakh---known as “Oral Laws” (Talmud/Mishnah)---these were the man-made traditions and commands of the Pharisees (Orthodox) that Yeshua called them out on numerous times (but Christians think these were God’s Laws when they were not). Matthew 23:4,15, 25-26, 32. www.oneforisrael.org/bible-based-teaching-from-israel/did-god-also-give-moses-an-oral-law/ “You who boast in the (oral) law dishonor Elohim by transgressing the (written) Law!” (Romans 2:23). You are right to abandon the errors within Christendom, the added commands and traditions of men, but you will eventually come to realize that the Rabbis in Orthodox Judaism ALSO have numerous man-made traditions and commands that go against Torah (Mishnah & Talmud & Kabbalah/Gematria). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tddCNY6U77Y.html May you be blessed by Yah.

That’s the first thing people need to understand that the New Testament is not an extension of the Torah. The Torah has a beginning, and it has an end, and nothing may be changed or ADDED. No we do not proselytize, Judaism is a religion of attraction. You’re either born into it, or convert, and I truly believe that people that convert already have Jewish souls, and the conversion just makes them complete again not all Jewish souls are born into Jewish families.
@mattikarosenthal3298
@mattikarosenthal3298 Год назад
The first thing is that the Jayman never fulfilled any biblical prophecies. And since he was a Jew, his soul was at Mount Sinai, you cannot take that away from him, because all Jewish souls were at Mount Sinai together, those that have passed, those that were living, and those yet to be born. But we do not worship a man, we only worship our creator, and we do not need any intermediaries. And also followers of the Jayman take things out of context, I couldn’t believe it when I was speaking with a follower of the Cj man, and he told me that there was no more covenant between the Jewish people and Hashem, because we had sinned! Are you kidding me? He said that the first covenant didn’t exist anymore, that HaShem “disolved” it and that since the Jayman, a new covenant was in place. Are you kidding me? Where do they come up with this stuff?😮

As an African American and person who used to be a Christian this was refreshing to hear! I left Christianity for some of the same reasons and have spent the last 13 or more years studying with my Rabbi. I have not “converted “ to Orthodox Judaism because I understand that it is not needed. I am a follower of HaShem, the God of Israel and I love the Jewish people. I am a follower of Truth and they are the caregivers of Truth and are in this world to teach us. Again this was refreshing to hear. I pray others would start asking the questions that will lead them to follow after truth.

You’re amazing Charlene! You’re absolutely correct. “Converting” is not needed. That’s a personal choice for people. Keeping the 7 Noahide laws, being a Noahide is beautiful in Hashem’s eyes. The world needs to see your example!
@charleneferguson5574
@charleneferguson5574 Год назад
Thank you for the reply. I don’t label myself a “Noahide” because it’s about more than just keeping the Noahide laws. I observe and celebrate all the festivals and follow HaShem’s commandments as I continue to study and get understanding as I follow after HaShem’s truths. I didn’t want to step out of one box into another. I am continually enlightened with our weekly Torah portions in gaining understanding each day. It’s all about being open and asking questions and not be afraid to change. Baruch HaShem.

After a decade, feeling like what I describe" God kicking me in the butt", I decided to walk into our only reform congregation here in Ottawa, Canada and finally felt I was exactly where I needed to he. Thank you very much for sharing your story. Both of my parents are Jewish and I grew up secular for a time, then my great grandmother went fully back to the Sephardic Synagogue and began teaching us Torah. When my mother became religious as an adult she went back to Torah. Unfortunately Y. was added. Not as a demigod, or virgin birth or God, but still as the Mashiach. I never understood this at all , even as a child. We never really learned about him except that he said keep the Torah and he would return. We only studied Torah/Tanakh. As an adult I prayed and realized that I needed to know what I actually knew and why I did the things that I did. This led me right back to Torah, Orthodox Judaism. I felt a freedom and closeness to Hashem that I had never experienced before. Within our family we have secular, Orthodox, and Modern Orthodox . We also have Muslim, Christians, atheist and Lapid. When I shifted no one wanted to really hear why, or what I was doing. Fear for many reasons prevented conversations. Which is okay with me because like you guys say it is my journey. All of my children (10) are adults and half of them are married. I am thrilled that they are all on their own journeys and are leaning back into Judaism. I am older than you guys and I am thrilled to say that you have encouraged and inspired me to stand up a bit taller on this journey. Lo siento for the long comment. Please continue to share. There have been so many false Messiahs, so I don’t think Christians should take it so hard, the Jayman was only one of many false messiahs in our history. We do not worship any man. In fact, no one even knew where Moses was buried just for that reason, so that his grave would not become a place to worship him again we only worship the creator, not men or things that Hashem has created.

The canonization of the Bible as we have it today has definitely had an interesting journey. What's in the Bible depends on what community you're in: Ethiopian Coptics, Roman Catholics, the Orthodox Church, and Protestants all have different numbers of books that are an aren't included. The order of the Old Testament was definitely rearranged for a non-Jewish audience in order to explain how, by ending with Malachi, there was a "silence" of 400 years that was fulfilled by Jesus. My issue comes from modern Christianity's assumption of that because God was and still is speaking to us through the Jewish community. Also, what I found helpful about the incongruity of the New Testament, is that they were primarily a collection of letters between communities. Paul's letters were in dialogue with and in response to those communities. Which is why he and James (who was much more Torah observant) had disagreeances between one another theologically. For Paul, he didn't want to not have Gentiles be welcomed into the community because they had to follow strict Torah observance, while other church leaders thought that by doing so Gentiles would be better connected with this burgeoning Jewish-Christian community. I think we are DEFINITELY missing our Jewish nature within Christianity, and is something that I've been really diving into these past few months. I'm a seminary student and feel like there's something seriously lacking within the church today. I feel like we need to reconnect with our Jewish roots in a relational way. I'm saddened by how the schism grew to the point of Christianity breaking away from Judaism due to political power - particularly through Constantine and Theodosius. I also hope this doesn't come across rudely! I am so, so happy that you have found a faith community that connects for you and your family. I'm actually in deep theological reflection about potentially converting to Judaism because of my own research into Judaism and frustration with the current Church.

I'm sorry, I normally find your videos interesting and while I don't always agree I like to hear a different perspectives. But in this video I feel like there were so so many things you said that were just reflecting that you poorly understood Christian Church History to begin with or are naïve to certain things. For example, any Christian who claims the Hosea passage is specifically speaking about Jesus Christ is wrong. That was not the purpose of what Matthew was saying when connecting the two passages. But the thing that made me spit out my coffee on this video was you questioning why Jesus didn't celebrate Christmas or Easter......uh....are you seriously asking why Jesus didn't celebrate a holiday pertaining to HIS birthday and a holiday pertaining to his Resurrection? That is like asking "Why did MLK not celebrate MLK day?" Someone cannot celebrate something which is not yet established in tradition. You totally lost me with this video.
@rollingknuckleball
@rollingknuckleball Год назад
December 25th is not the birthday of Jesus, it is a pagan holiday (Saturnalia) which the Roman pagans adopted as a Christian themed holiday. It originally worships the rise of the sun God on the winter solistice. The ritual of decorating an ever-green tree inside the house is completely pagan and is rejected by the God of Abraham as pagan. Jeremiah 10:1-5 clearly and unashamedly says to never follow the ways of the pagans, which is, to cut down an ever-green tree, nail it inside the house, and decorate it with silver and gold. This was done on Saturnalia, the pagan festival celebrating the birth of the Sun god. Jesus was born in summer of spring, not december. Fyi, here's one of the most important ministers in the US clearly telling you how pagan Christmas is, in case you don't believe me, or Jeremiah 10: 1-5, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--FvT2wzKTmo.html FYI, clearly the reason Jesus didn't celebrate saturnalia is because it is pagan to its core. And celebrating a pagan holiday goes against Jewish law, and doing so would make one a sinner. So celebrating Christmas is to sin. It's hilarious because Jeremiah 10: 1-5 literally is a decree from the LORD, and you believe the LORD is Jesus, i.e. you believe that Jesus also authored the Jewish Bible, and yet, despite that you put up trees in your house, talk about not obeying Jesus.

I grew up in a Christian evangelical family. My parents and church taught me what is correct and not correct. Being in this context made me think more about my faith and the stuff around me. The first thing I heard when I asked someone about why Jews rejected Jesus Christ was something like because they were not expecting the humble, simple, and non-political Messiah. But, when I started to study more about these things, my mind opened. I'd say I don't know everything about Judaism, but I'm learning more and more. I'm still in the evangelical church because where I live there's not any synagogue. When I leave my city for another bigger one, I want to start to go to a synagogue and make my conversion. Thank you for sharing your story., I've been a Christian all my life ( though found that genetically am Jewish ( Ashkenazi and am very Eastern European) but it's all I've ever known. I was baptized Catholic, but grew up in many flavors of Protestantism etc. finished the rest of my classes as an adult to become Catholic. Fast forward to last year ( when I was 47yrs old) and one day I just thought to myself, " Why don't we celebrate Chanukah? Jesus celebrated Chanukah. Why don't we as Christians celebrate it? Then I began asking more questions such as : If Jesus was Jewish and celebrated Jewish holidays, than why don't Christians celebrate these holidays as well? Just recently the verse of Jesus saying that he was not there to abolish the law but to full fill it. Then I was thinking: So why aren't we following Jewish tradition if he wasn't there to change things? I, of course, have so many questions and you both explain things so clearly. A historian of Church history and experiences in Rabbinic history here. Just want to point out some things to you guys: 1) The Christian canon wasn’t canonized in the 4th century. You can read any history book about the Council of Nicaea and see that as the case. Please, I encourage you both to speak clearly on your conversion story, but to also have accurate history. 2) The saying that the “Torah is perfect” isn’t sensible to interpret as nothing can be added to it. Even in the composition of the Tanakh, which is an acronym of several groups of literature (the Torah, the Kethuvim, and the Nevi’im), the Kethuvim and Nevi’im are added and add to the understanding of the Torah. Also, the statement that the Torah is perfect or “good” is stated repeatedly in the Christian Scriptures and the writers assume that the Torah is still the basic morality that everyone follows. Paul himself constantly used the Torah for his own teaching and said that it is good (1 Timothy 1:18…and he even goes on to list our sins in the order of the 10 devarim/commandments found in Exodus 20 to prove that) and will always be upheld by Christ-followers and then explains it from his sectarian point of view for about 5 chapters from Romans 3:31-Romans 8. The verse that you guys give for the Law being done away with in Romans 3:20 doesn’t literally say what you guys say it does. It doesn’t say anything about the Law ending. It just says what the Law didn’t do, which is based upon the Law itself, as Paul argues in Romans 4 (like how Abraham did not have the Law of Moses, how Abraham did not abide by the dietary restrictions because he didn’t have them, and yet God called Abraham righteous). 3) Many Scriptures are taken to have multiple interpretations. For example, in your one example of Hosea “out of Egypt I have called my son,” you will find many rabbis who have used that same verse beyond its original context to mean several things even to modern times for Jewish people. And in that regard… 4) The religion that you both have joined to is called Rabbinic Judaism. It is not the same as the Second Temple Judaism. In fact, in terms of their traditions, Christianity is older than Rabbinic Judaism which was largely developed in reaction to Christianity, other Jewish sects that disagreed with the Talmudic rabbis, the destructions of Jerusalem in 70 AD and of Judea in about 135 AD, and the decentralization of the Temple and the Judean homeland from that fallout. There are several Jewish scholars who point this out. Here are a few: Shaye Cohen, Paula Fredriksen, Daniel Boyarin, Seth Schwartz, and others. 5) I also read Hebrew, Aramaic, and Ancient Greek. I’m trained partly in Talmudic studies, but I focus upon Christian history. I can tell you these things (and more), but you two need to keep researching and looking into things, including the Rabbinic Judaism that you both have chosen for yourself. I’m also Jewish by physical descent, and I’m black also (funny, right?). I very much encourage you both to look into these things (like, for instance, how nothing in the Torah says that the Sabbath, which I still observe, is the unique day that we worship God anymore than that we should do so on Sunday). There are plenty of Greek cultural inroads in modern Judaism, even as you both are examples of English speaking Jews (synagogue, afikomen, bia, bima, Sanhedrin…all of these are Greek words). Ancient Jews in Roman domains spoke Greek mostly, just like Modern American Jews speak and rely upon English translations for the most part. Most do not and cannot read Hebrew. But that is natural in Jewish history. Even the Targumim were written (presumably beginning with Ezra) because the People could not read Hebrew and had to read in Aramaic. The Greek Jewish Scriptures were themselves written by Ancient Jews and relied upon by the majority of Ancient Jews in their day in the past. So you have to contend with Ancient Jews vs Modern Jews when claiming mistranslations in the Greek Jewish texts, such as with the “Virgin” prophecy in Isaiah. It isn’t as simplistic as Christians changing the ancient Jewish translations that they inherited from Ancient Jews who lived hundreds of years before them. All in all, thanks for the explanation video! But a good deal of your history is just factually incorrect. I highly encourage correcting those things by looking into them and then seeing how you stand. It’s always good to represent things accurately and to not fall from one quagmire of misunderstanding into yet another one just because. Keep learning and researching!

So I’m a messianic, I’ve left the traditional church bc like y’all said Christians would celebrate Christmas over Hanukkah and other biblical holidays. When translating Paul’s letters the translators didn’t add in ab what law he was talking ab, like there is the law of sin and death, the sacrificial law etc. The translators basically thought the context of the passage would explain what law he is talking ab. But y’all can do ur own research on this and not take my word for it. I too was confused why it was like this.

When I read Deuteronomy I thought the same thing, Why did G-d tell Moses not to add or take away the words g-d gave us to the point he had Moses write it down n stone so it could not be erased or crossed off like on paper. When I hear Christians say Jesus Died for your sins, I thought so did the sacrificial and Ezikial Lambs but we don’t believe they were the messiah either. No one has been able to answer the question of, if when the messiah comes the messiah will bring back the ones that passed away before us from where they lay in the dust back to the living and I don’t see where Jesus had done that. And when the messiah comes shouldn’t it be on earth like it is in heaven or like we were when Adam and Eve lived in the garden of Eden? In my beliefs Christianity seems to ignore or tries to twist the words in Deuteronomy and hasn’t given me an answer that makes sense to when I ask when G-d says in Deuteronomy 6-4 I am the Lord your G-d I am one. (Not two or three) Even though G-d is a plural being as both Man and Woman in One can create life from the dust of the earth as well as the rib of man without having to carry a child as a woman does, but has the power of a plural being to create life as we know it!
@jewpino9421
@jewpino9421 Год назад
@C E After talking to Holy Christians I can see how they can twist and change the Original Testiment to their beliefs. Deuteronomy 4:16 is a simple instruction of not to believe in the graven image of a man or women as it is a test from G-d. Jesus is in the form of man not G-d. Jesus has no more power then the Ezekiel Lamb, So does that make the Ezekiel Lambs the Children of G-d and the half brothers if Jesus?

Matthew is right on the money about Hosea 11:1 - it is indeed a prophecy about the Messiah king of Israel, *_"At dawn, shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off. When Israel is a child, and I love him, and shall call my son out of Egypt."_* Jesus is referred to as Israel because in him will be realized the promises made to Jacob/Israel. In Isaiah 49:1-7, the Messiah is called God's servant Israel formed from the womb by God (begotten of God) in order to restore the remnant of Israel (the 1st century Christian Jews), raise up the tribes of Jacob (the born-again believers that God is sowing unto himself in the earth per Hosea 2:23) and become salvation (Yeshua Jesus) unto the ends of the earth. There is no salvation outside of Christ. All they that strive with Jesus shall perish.

How do you square it with your new faith that teaches you can save yourself by keeping Kosher, not working on a Saturday, and doing other rituals? I know this was early in your journey and perhaps it isn't the case now, but you shouldn't refer to Jesus as JC. The "C" stands for christ which is Greek for messiah. I say this to you with all due respect and in no way do i wish to demean your character. Neither do i wish to diminish your faith in Torah, on the contrary, i strongly support your belief in the old testament. But i strongly feel that i need to underline this. If you're not Jewish, then why convert to Judaism? It's not exactly customary. Judaism usually doesn't promote conversion because being Jewish is not a choice. It's like being from a certain culture, you should be born to it. Like, you can't just become Caledonian, or you can't just become Amazigh. I am born to a non-Jewish mother but my father is Jewish. Hallacha states that to be deemed a fully born Jewish person, one needs to be born to a Jewish mother. As one born to a non-Jewish mother, I deeply respect this custom though. I think that converting to Judaism as an outsider goes against this custom. Certainly if you consider that fundamental principle of the religion which urges one to stick to their roots. If this is a prerogative of the Jewish people, what makes you believe that you can outvoice it? Again, no animosity is meant here, this is just my sincere opinion.

Christmas is simply celebrating the birth of Jesus. Now we know that Jesus wasn't born in December. We don't know exactly when he was born. All we know is that it was sometime between 4 and 6 AD, and most likely late in the month of September. The celebrating of Christmas has nothing to do with the old or new testaments. It's simply a tradition that developed later. Like Hanukah. I personally don't see anything wrong or nefarious with celebrating the birth of our Savior, even if we don't know exactly when he was born. It is such a joyous time of year. As for Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of our Messiah, Jesus. Why not celebrate that? Another joyous celebration. And how could Jesus celebrate his own death BEFORE he died? Mmmmm? And obviously this guy doesn't know that Hanukah was NOT a part of the Tanakh. This festival was added to the yearly festivals AFTER the old and even the New Testament was written. Hanukah is the story of the rededication of the Temple during the Maccabean war. It's apocryphal literature. It was NOT included in the canonization of the Tanakh or the Old Testament. I'm not saying that it's not legitimate history that is good to know, but it's not from the Tanakh. Nor do I see this as a problem, any more than Christmas is a problem. BOTH are OUTSIDE the Tanakh/Old Testament. A tradition that developed LATER.

From a Jewish perspective, Jesus isn't even unique in being a false messiah - we've had plenty of others. But if a person is a Christian, I'm not going to tell them they're wrong or criticize them for it ever. If you're happy in your faith whatever it is, then I'm happy for you. I appreciate this video and I hope Hashem allows your channel to grow, so you can start doing livestreams. B ‘ezrat Hashem. You have sparked a lot of questions in my mind. I can totally identify with you on this topic. Your points were laid out well and very thought out, making it easy for anyone to understand. I learnt a lot from this video. I searched for myself using my 1917 Tanakh and the KJV, and I also cross reference with Rabbi Guy Cohen’s video, Yeshua truth and Christianity lies, and it is true. IF, there is any merit to the 1st Jewish believers claim about the Meshiach, then somewhere along, the faith begun to be Hellenized and has seriously strayed from its roots, becoming a separate entity, how SAD. I also saw in the B’rit Hadashah (NT) ,5th book, chapter 12, that the word Passover was replaced by the word Easter (KJV). What upsets me the most is the Theology of Replacement, that Hashem has moved on to the Gentiles because the Jews didn’t listen. Israel and the Jews are integral to the world future events and is meant to be a light to the nations Yeshaʿyahu (Isaiah) 42. After watching Return to the Hiding Place, I am hopeful that Hashem’s plan for Humanity will come to pass, a true story, involving Christians who saved Jews from the Nazis, by moving them around and hiding them. Honour is due to those Christians who were killed to do so, such as Piet Hartog, Corrie ten Boom and Hans Poley. The two faiths have blessed this world and worked together to make this world a better place. We all need to be like Mattathias and resist Hellenization, to serve Hashem as the Torah commands. To be honest, it's never easy to explain.. it's just something thats literally in you.. like you never wake up saying you want to convert. I felt like I had a Jewish Neshama my entire life.. I remember after I converted the first thing I did was quit my job and live in Israel for a bit. I went to a yeshiva in Jerusalem , and it was the greatest exposure to Torah. Learn the language, Learned Halacha, learned Gemera, and I even dated. Aliyah it still u p in the air..

I left Christianity around 28 years ago. I learned how Pagan it was then learned that the early church purposely changed G-ds word to sound christological . I felt so betrayed and was happy to leave and embrace Judaism and convert. Being a Noahide was not an option. I knew I had to convert. I felt like I was Jewish and just needed to finalize it with conversion.

Only Western Christianity is heretical, even then it doesn't have pagan things, also there is no proof of the early church changing God's word to sound "Christological", as we have the epistles of the early Christians, and early Greek manuscripts with large portions of the New Testament when translated is the same as our current translations. Sorry to tell you this, but you were lied to, I guess people do live happier living a lie.

My mother converted from Catholic to following the Messianic Jewish teaching since I was a baby. I went on my own journey at age 19. I fellowshipped, worshipped n became a member as a pentecostal, baptist, seventh day adventist, methodist, non denomination Christian... I am now 44 and have done a complete 360 in my search for truth. I took a sabbatical from my Christian place of worship and still find myself drawn to the laws, precepts and the Holy reverence in the old testament. I pray YHWH allows me to find the fellowship between brothers and sisters that hunger for GOD n GOD alone! I still follow the Leviticus law in regards to food. Could never bring myself to eat unclean. Blessings ❤️🙏🏼

I’m a messianic Jew. I believe that Yeshua is the promised messiah. I’m sorry for your experience. What ever church you were going to was definitely a false church preaching broken theology. I go to a messianic synagogue. We celebrate Gods appointed days. We read Torah and have Torah study. Paul didn’t do away with the law. He was very zealous for the law and followed it, but he didn’t force non-Jewish believers to become Jewish. He encouraged them to stay gentile. The whole book is a Jewish book. Written by Jewish authors. The New Testament parallels with the Hebrew Bible. Messianic versions of the Bible that I like are the complete Jewish Bible and the tree of life bible. In your journey I hope that you find relationship with Adoni.

“We tearing it up on burgers (bacon) ” 😂 Yeah Islam too we say all this same stuff. We refer to Christianity sometimes as “Paul-ianity”. Bcz Paul actually started their false teachings/religion , not Jesus pbuh. Jesus still taught monotheism and to pray to the one and only God, not to himself or a Trinity. If I may add some of their perspective… The reason why Christian’s celebrate “The Lords Day” on Sunday is Bcz in the early church they met to worship on that day. Also Bcz they say Jesus “fulfilled” the Sabbath. So they changed it to “show” that their Jesus had fulfilled it.
