Leaving Our Daughter at Daycare in Antigua, Guatemala 

As an educator who specializes in social science, I will say you guys are providing Saga with a beautiful life. The cultural wealth she will be bringing into multiple spaces will help her navigate our diverse world. Through her lived experiences and multiple perspectives, she will offer a unique lens. Thank you for allowing her to explore other customs and children while at daycare.

As a black women, I felt so safe and welcomed in Guatemala! Antigua was beautiful, I enjoyed Lake Atitlan the best. Guatemala is such an amazing country.

I love that you found a great daycare! I did the same thing with my 9 month old in Kingston, Jamaica while I was there for 6 months. BEST DECISION EVER! I went to the gym, cafe, met new friends and healed while going through post partum depression and anxiety. ❤❤❤❤❤Keep listening to Spirit! It will always lead you to the right, places and people. Saga feeds herself well. I love how neat she is with her food, picking up the what fell out of the bowl. Just a side note my niece who is now 22 years spoke similarly to the way Saga speaks at that age. She is a brilliant young adult and excelled during her school days and college years. The speech delay is due to the exposure to several languages. Which was the case with my niece. She will be fine and multilingual! 🤗

I am in tears of joy watching, much blessings to your family!! In 2006, I didn't know what to do, was depressed, then I was approach to do governement work in Antigua. That change my life, and it was during this season, soon is the procession and Easter. The whole community is very christian. Where you were looked like Ciudad Vieja in Antigua, I lived there for about a month. 2007, I had quit Canada to start my solo journey living in NY. I feel like I am watching you Maya, but from an alternate universe (except, single, no kids yet, back in Canada, but STILL keeping God by my side). Much love yo uou, Max and Saga 💖💖💖

I love how you capture as many things as you are experiencing. I grew up in Jamaica the first 8 years of my life and even in my 30s I have so many memories I refer back to and it was the best start to my life and I love going back home having been living in the U.K. JAMAICA is still home. I love these adventure for Saga! I love these adventures for you as a family. Love today's volg. One thing I can say is that Saga would have experienced so much at this stage of development. This so much more than many of us adults. I believe it would help with her social and emotional skills later on in life. Max and Maya you are excellent parents ❤.

I love this! We’ve been traveling full time with our 18 month old son for over a year now. I feel like it’s not sustainable to be with him all day every day and I’m burnt out, kinda want to go home so I can put in daycare. I’ve been too scared to put him daycare or even hire a nanny in Mexico and other countries we’ve been to. I’m seriously going to look into it as I would be super comfortable with a referral like that one. Daycare and Bering fully immersed in the culture is the only at they really benefit from this experience, otherwise they’re just being shuffled from one Airbnb, airport, restaurant, beach to the next. I feel like he’s missing out because he’s still only with us, only communicating with us, not fully interacting with the local people and culture. And I’m getting burnt out never having a break, his dad and I never having any quality alone time. It’s tiresome

I'm just loving following your adventures and seeing part of the world through Saga's eyes. You have now ignited my interest in travelling to Guatemala. Antigua looks amazingly beautiful. Saga will be a happy wanderer because of these experiences. She's already adapting to weather, language, solo experiences, new people and watching her parents navigate new places with positive energy and excited exploration. I think it was like 15 years ago some guy nearly killed me while stealing my Nokia N95 phone in Antigua. Shots fired and all over a phone. Never went back, but aside that it was great! We climbed up Pacaya and cooked up our burgers above the lava. Good to see the city again.
