The family members of hundreds of Lebanese prisoners being held in Israeli jails got a boost on Thursday (23/10) when Ernesto Guevara, son of legendary Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara, joined their weekly Beirut sit-in in support of their imprisoned fathers, brothers, and sons.
Guevara, who is accompanied by his father's right-hand man and former deputy minister of industry, Orlando Borrego, also visited the Beirut offices of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Addressing the crowd, Guevara said his visit was to show
solidarity with the Palestinian plight. Borrego said the
demonstration reminded him of the thousands of mothers who lost
children in his country.
While visiting Lebanon, the 32-year-old Guevara also paid a visit to Hezbollah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut's southern suburbs.
