I find the winking and nodding of even the more nuanced and honest western journalists is endemic and infuriating. I was listening to a recent podcast by Ezra Kline and at one point Ezra is explaining that Palistinians believe that the Israelis are trying to push them out and the other journalist just goes "parish the thought" then they just kinda did the okey'doke and moved on. They didn't defend Israel but they did lightly dismiss it as too terrible to contemplate. Its so frustrating when its actually the self evident truth! 💢

As a gay Lebanese-American, whenever I go to Lebanon, I've met a lot of Hezbollah rank & file, low level politicians, etc at the gay night life scene in Beirut.
