Exaclty. I was watching LeBron vs Kobe in 2007-2008 season and that was incredible how the guys fight against each other. Seriously you don’t see this in today NBA…
The game isnt like it used to be i grow up watching these players battle it out in the regular season. Todays game is team centric offence better for the game but much more boring
I'll say this LeBron James' defense; LeBron wants to win a championship but he kept getting his but kicked by the Boston Celtics led by Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo. LeBron saw this and was like "Wait a minute, it's 3 or 4 against 1! Nasty odds!! But, y'all would diminish my career by saying I didn't win a championship at a very young age, but y'all didn't say anything about Michael Jordan being expected to beat the OG big 3 Boston Celtics!! Me, D-Wade, and Chris Bosh are cool with each other. If teams can put together a super team of their own, why can't the players?"
I wish people who call Lebron a flop actually knew how talented he is, when for 8 years he carried the Cavs through the playoffs and put outstanding game performances, why has that changed now exactly?
9:09 - only 7 years ago and the nba wasn't as soft as it is now. Great game, but when they decided to come together, at once - not built up, get the best shooter ever to come off the bench to close games for them and a couple more ex all stars, as well as Boshtrich on the starting 5... that's stacked.
Ray Allen isn't even the best shooter today. Watch James Harden, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant. Ray Allen is the best 3-point shooter because he made the most 3's but he's not the best shooter ever.
sonofaballer96 bro ray allen has been in the league 16 years he is a career 40% 3point shooter, thats 40 percent of all the shots he's taken made in 16 years. i don't know what your sniffing oh and he's got a ring. steph curry has a chance the rest of them please, until than ray allen is the still best. didn't he save the heat in game 6 last year???he's made more game winners than all these dudes put together my man, still got it.
If these cats STARTED their careers on the same team then Bill Russell's record 11 rings would be in jeopardy and D wade would have carried more finals MVP's than lebron and actually gotten his due as 1 of the best players ever.
If they would have joined up at this point in their careers.... You could have filled the rest of the team with 8 year olds and they would have 7 rings by now.
+Errol ROC not over Dwade had to take a step back he's still as good when he was back then I think he will be King wade half way through this NBA season.
I think you're going to see a much better Wade. He's never been a good offseason player, but this year he wants to prove something. His prime was short lived and he won't be that again, but he'll be a lot better and I think the Heat are going to surprise a lot of people.
Damn I understand that the 80's to 90's era are the time where the greatest NBA players played. But damn, 2000s-2010 is my favorite NBA decade. Look at how awesome the players are! Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Vince, T-Mac, Shaq, Iverson. I love watching those athletic freaks especially Vince Carter. Those were the days man... =/
This is so abnormal it's ridiculous. You don't see John Wall and Stephen Curry going at it like this or Paul George and James Harden. The defense in the NBA is a joke has gotten worse since the 90's but this is still crazy. Who the heck does this today? I'll wait...
***** Kevin Love can't even stay on a court longer than 30 minutes. Everytime I turn around he's sitting out and Harden ain't no where near this level. Durant may be there but him and Lebron don't go at it like James and Wade used to. There no T-Mac vs Kobe, no Wade vs Melo, no Vince Carter vs AI, no real rivalries.
That's only the case because players don't play an obscene amount of minutes nowadays. Wade played 43 and LBJ played 45 in this game and teams just don't ride their superstars like that anymore. The league leader in minutes this year was a tie between Melo/Jimmy Butler at 38.7 per. In 2005/06, 18 players played AT LEAST that amount. Players can still have games like this if they get the playing time. Look at Kobe's numbers vs Toronto, New Orleans, and Portland last year when they Lakers were desperate to make the playoffs. He and Lillard had a nice duel in Portland.
***** What about Steph Curry? Remember Steph Curry vs Kevin Love this year? Curry had 32 points and 15 assists while Love had 40 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists.
I can think of a couple of reasons: 1) This game happened in the regular season. Bird and Nique's happened in the playoffs. 2) The 80s and 90s were considered by many to be the golden era of basketball. Teams were very unselfish back then and were extremely fun to watch. 3) The mid 2000s up to now have no handchecking rules and superstar calls are abundant. This turned off many old and hardcore fans of the game who were used to seeing very physical play 20+ years ago.
spiidey1 I'm an old fan. I have been watching basketball since the 60s. The 80s and 90s were better, but occasionally todays game is on par (just look at this year 1st round playoffs matchups). The no hand-checking thing is a little overrated. There actually was more freedom of movement back then than there is now. The real reason was because this wasn't a playoff game, like you said. If it had been, then this would have been consider one of the all-time great duels.
This game shows why I chose Lebron over Kobe/Wade early on his career. While Kobe wants to take the last shot to beat you. Lebron just beats you in many ways. You know Kobe will take the last shot no matter what. Lebron in the other hand will make the correct basketball play. But people hate Lebron for that. Calls him scared of taking the last shot. Lebron has taken plenty of clutch shots, and shoots a higher % than Kobe. Kobe just takes a ton of them and has horrible efficiency in doing it.
allthatjeff Yea bro I dont know basketball... WTF?... You asking me why would I take Lebron over Wade? Bro if you dont know then you dont know basketball.
This just reminds me of a young athletic, aggressive lebron James. His motor was so high at all time unlike now with the heat. Dwade on the other hand just show his youth. So aggressive with speed and power slashing. People tends to forget how good Wade was before the arrival of James in Miami.
@sonofaballer96 james harden isnt as good as a shooter 2k makes him out to be lol hes. 33% 3point shoote and his statistics from mid range arent that great either ray allen isnt the best ever though but hes certainly up there 40% in his 16 year nba career from 3 2 time nba champ give him respect the best shooter in the league has to be steph curry the way he can shoot off the dribble even tim hardaway couldnt do that but statically Steve Nash yes Steve Nash is the best shooter in nba history better than bird better than anybody statistically because hes the only shooter to have more than 2 50-40-90 seasons he has 5 and almost every single one of his season he shoots 50-40-90 he is the best shooter in league history
If the Heat improved their rooster after the 2006 NBA Finals to the 2010 , we all could see a NBA Finals between Kobe and Wade and I think it will be a clasic 35+ points battle
Dwayne was the better player of the two . Plain and simple. Wade is a better basketball player . Lebron the better athlete and by that I mean just strength and vertical and height.Wade is more fluid and finnese with his game. Lebron is just a fucking brute. I mean shit gets old sometimes watching him. Wade is a hybrid between allen Iverson/Jordan/kobe. Lebron is a dominque/magic hybrid.
Cavs and Heat battles were classic. Jordan 's battles were good but he never played Malone, Barkley, or Ewing one on one. Also, don't act like Kobe was the only good player on that team. Fisher was a great shooter, Horry a decent role player and you can't forget about Shaq. Also, Jordan had the same kind of help. Pippen and Rodman, and Grant, and Steve Kerr
imo wade was better than lebron back in the day. When wade won the championship in the 05-06 season he was unstoppable one of the best performances i've ever seen
This is the year the Heat won the finals. The funny thing is, DWade had less of a team than Lebron did in Cleveland and still won the title. Shaq was really a shadow of himself this year and it only declined further here forward. I mean, measure the teams. Wade won a title with less than what Lebron got swept with.
You joking right. Shaw was still a dominant force at this time. Plus can you honestly lineup the 06 Heat roster with the 07 Cavs and really say that Cleveland had the better team? GTFO with that logic because obviously you just sat there and wanted to hear yourself talk and all that came out was some bullshit you don't even believe. The fact LeBron dragged that sorry ass 07 team to the Finals was amazing.
ChiTownWarrior1 Out of those 2 squads? Absolutely. That Heat team was barely better than anything the Cavs fielded and arguably no more talented. Keep LeStaning ?
TheRoseExperience Stop....just stop. In no way shape or form did the 06 Heat have less talent than the 07 Cavs. You just talking out yo ass now. The Heat were just in the ECF the year before. Stick to what you know bruh cause this ain't it.
ChiTownWarrior1 Explain to me how the Heat were so much better? Even if the supporting cast is better, it's marginal at best. You keep spouting the same thing with nothing to support it. You telling me 3rd year Haslem and fat Antoine Walker are better than Varejao and Gooden? Big Z was every bit effective as fat and slow Shaq at this point and Mourning did nothing. Guards were a wash and Lebron was supposedly the best player in the NBA. GTFO here with the Cavalier excuses.
are you watching the game wade scored more from the outside then LeBron. Not only that look how wade plays with style and flare and finesse.in the fourth quarter He was being guarded by bron and he just attacked him at will. Wades post game is more complete, meaning hooks ,fadeaways etc but yet LeBron is more effective because his just a fucking physical specimen wade is a better dribbler, shot blocker, clutch shooter, stealer LeBron is just a hulk bulldozing through everybody
Let's say half of Lebrons assist were threes... That means he was responsible for 72 of his teams points... So only 34 points were created by his team mates... Can you really blame him for leaving?
The south beach women got a hold of him and the eye of the tiger is gone now.Women weaken legs thats a known fact in all sports.I don't see Dwade ever getting back to the 2006 level.
Oh look what we have here. A kid trying to sound so "old school" and who is probably not even old enough to have witnessed those classic rivalries he has mentioned. How cute.
