The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the major men's professional basketball league in North America, and is widely considered to be the premier men's professional basketball league in the world. It has 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada), and is an active member of USA Basketball (USAB),[2] which is recognized by FIBA (also known as the International Basketball Federation) as the national governing body for basketball in the United States. The NBA is one of the four major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. NBA players are the world's best paid athletes by average annual salary per player.[3][4]
The league was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA).[1][5] The league adopted the name National Basketball Association on August 3, 1949, after merging with its rival National Basketball League (NBL). The league's several international as well as individual team offices are directed out of its head offices located in the Olympic Tower at 645 Fifth Avenue in New York City. NBA Entertainment and NBA TV studios are directed out of offices located in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The NBA originated in 1946 with 11 teams, and through a sequence of team expansions, reductions, and relocations currently consists of 30 teams. The United States is home to 29 teams and one is located in Canada.
The current league organization divides thirty teams into two conferences of three divisions with five teams each. The current divisional alignment was introduced in the 2004-05 season. Reflecting the population distribution of the United States and Canada as a whole, most teams are in the eastern half of the country: thirteen teams are in the Eastern Time Zone, nine in the Central, three in the Mountain, and five in the Pacific.
The Boston Celtics have won the most championships with 17 NBA Finals wins. The second most successful franchise is the Los Angeles Lakers, who have 16 overall championships (11 in Los Angeles, 5 in Minneapolis). Following the Lakers, are the Chicago Bulls with six championships, all won over an 8-year span during the 1990s. The San Antonio Spurs have five championships, all since 1999, and the Golden State Warriors also have five championships overall (2 in Philadelphia, 3 in Oakland).

This might sound crazy, but I think LeBron is one of the most underrated players in NBA history. People constantly say he'll never be as good as Michael. People constantly focus on his Finals losses. But they ignore how truly great he is. He's on pace to be the first player to hit 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, and 10,000 assists. Even Kareem's scoring record isn't too far out of reach if he keeps up this level of production for another 5 or 6 years. He's the all time leader in assists for players that aren't guards. He has the 2nd highest average PER of all time, right behind Michael. For comparison, Kobe is in the mid-20s in the all time list for PER. This man deserves more credit. Not to mention the insane longevity he's shown. He's in his 15th year, doesn't look like he's lost a step in the slightest, and he's never had a severe injury. In my mind, being healthy is part of being great. That's why we talk about LeBron and not T Mac. People need to appreciate his greatness before he retires because I don't think we'll ever see a player quite like this ever again.

The people picking up the pass never have to compete with anyone else for the ball because of the quality. And you can't be on a basketball court and not expect the ball to come to you on offence. Good finishes but he'd envisioned it before they executed it. And no I'm not a LeBron bootlicker. Just keeping the credit where it's due

There are other great passers in history, but no one but Lebron possesses the deadly combination of court vision and physical strength to hit a corner three point shooter in the chest from the other side of the court with plenty of time to catch and shoot when the defender was only two steps away at the time of the pass. I see those kind of passes and I know that I have seen no one else in basketball history do that, yet somehow it's only in the replay that I truly see that yes, he did in fact hit the shooter in the chest from the opposite side of the court JUST when the defender began to collapse into the paint to guard against Lebron's unstoppable drive to the rim. It's perfection. It's the taking apart of the defense. It's how it's done. Jordan didn't have this level of court vision to open up the defense for him to score. Therefore, he had to be much more skilled, in his footwork, dribbling AND shooting, which he most certainly was. He was also more athletic with bigger hands -- although he was not as strong. He had to use all of these gifts to take apart the defense, and he did, but he had to do it by himself because of his lack of court vision for his team mates' opportunities. Lebron on the other hand is able to isolate himself one on one because all five defenders know that if they double team him, their assigned defender will get the ball and score. Jordan didn't inspire THAT kind of fear that pervades the entire defense -- at all times. No, you could play much simpler against Jordan. Just triple team him and see if he can beat you by himself. And he often could. But not as often as Lebron is able to beat you with his TEAM. Lebron is the greatest team player, and Jordan is the greatest individual player (and could beat Lebron one on one in his prime). But since basketball is a team sport, I'd say the conclusion writes itself. I don't even have to say it. Because again, his passing ability is not flashy like Steve Nash, but it works. It always opens up the defense and gives his team a better chance to score. If hockey assists (assists of assists) were recorded, I would argue that Lebron would have the most. I have no stats on this (nor does anyone), but I have watched Lebron for hundreds of hours since he came into the league and I can remember hundreds (maybe thousands?) of times where Lebron uses his sixth sense of court vision to know EXACTLY when the defense is collapsing on him even the tiniest bit. Then he whips off a pass, often across court and always crisp and unpredictable, and then that pass starts a beautiful network of passes that end up in a basket. You don't necessarily notice that it was Lebron's first pass that resulted in the score unless you watch closely. This is not recorded in the stats. It should be, but it's not. (or if it is by some metric I'm unaware of, please link me) At any rate, what IS recorded is that Lebron James was more valuable to his team when considering what both Jordan's and Lebron's teams did before and after their teams had them. Look it up. Compare the records and rosters. It's undeniable. And court vision is why. His court vision and team mindset makes him the greatest, not Jordan (and certainly not Kobe). Everyone's saying it now and he's still somehow well within his prime. Yet what do we hear from Jordan/Kobe fanboys? That Lebron is scared to carry the team on his shoulders and score all the points for them... and that Kobe and MJ weren't; that he passes because he can't do it himself. The irony of these kind of MJ and Kobe fanboy comments is that Lebron can do it by himself BECAUSE he is so willing to pass. If you collapse the defense onto you and are able to find the open man at the exact right time, then you don't need exceptional talent. Anderson Varejao and Mo Williams did just fine to carry Lebron deep into the playoffs every year simply by spreading the floor and being open for Lebron's, crisp, untelegraphed, perfectly timed passes. Hell, I could score if I was on Lebron's team and I didn't even play in high school. THAT'S how open he gets his team mates. And THAT'S how willing a passer he is. And that's how skilled a passer he is. But Jordan? Jordan never got out of the first round without Pippen's one on one prowess! Kobe? When he scored 35 ppg, his team lost in the first round because he had no Shaq or Pau to open up the defense with their superior one on one plays. Anderson Varejao couldn't beat a single player in the league one on one. But how about one on zero? Well yea, anyone can do that. And that's what Lebron's team mates get, night in and night out. Yes, I'd take Jordan or Kobe over Lebron any day one on one. But it's not one on one. There are four world class basketball players surrounding you at all times and you must use them to your full advantage to be in the conversation for best ever. That's right, I said it. Kobe and even MJ aren't even in the conversation. Magic, yes. Larry, yes. Lebron, yes. But no ball hog prima donna scorer should ever even be considered as GOAT by anyone who has looked up from their Kobe or MJ dunk posters and attempted to understand the flow of this beautiful game. Here's some hard facts to mull over if you have the time. Not that Jordan wasn't extremely effective to his team, but you can't find me anything like THIS... In the 2009-2010 season, Lebron’s Cavs went 61-21. In 2010-2011 - the year Lebron joined Miami - the Cavs went 19-63. I know what you’re thinking. The Cavs must have lost SOMEONE else besides Lebron. Nope. Here are the rosters. Lebron did in fact go 61-21 with NO ONE. www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2010.html www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2011.html Likewise, check out the rosters of the 35-57 2003-04 cavs and the 17-65 2002-03 Cavs. www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2003.html www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2004.html As you'll see, new additions for 03-04, Kevin Ollie and Eric Williams (heard of them?), logged the 4th and 5th most minutes on that team. Maybe it was Ollie's addition of 341 points that more than doubled the Cavs wins from the year before? Or maybe it was Eric Williams' whopping 36% FG? Possibly. But there was another player getting tons of minutes that was added to the 03-04 Cavs: a 19 year old rookie named Lebron James, already scoring 20 ppg and assisting 6 per game and single handedly establishing an offensive flow that no one has ever seen. Maybe it was him.

John Smith you spittin nothin but fax but scoring matters. LeBron is a GREAT scorer, and it annoys me when ppl talk about like he isn't (not saying you said that). Why do you think LeBron is able to collapse the defense so effectively? LeBron has averaged like 27 ppg for his career and only a good handful of players have done that or better. So you can't say MJ or Kobe can't be the GOAT because they were primarily a scorer, and I love LeBron and think he's the best and most complete basketball player I've ever seen.

What Pippen and CC said about Lebron is spot on. When people talk about MJ or when comparing MJ to others. You rarely hear them talk about the skill sets of Basketball. They say he was clutch, he won 6 titles and never loss which is great. But we need to keep in mind this is a team sport and he did not do it on his own. They never talk about the other years when he did not win. My question to the Jordan people who was Basketball skill did he do better than anyone else if you want to call him the GOAT. Was he the best passer, shooter, defender, or handler of the ball. How many different positions could he play effectively both offensively and defensively. They always talk about things that are more subjective than objective. For me, the best passer of all time was Magic, the best shooter is Steph Curry, the best defender was Bill Russell, and best handler of the ball Kyrie or Pistol Pete. If Basketball was not a team sport you could lean more on the titles he won. Even there, he did not win the most titles ever.

As a football fan(soocer as you americans call it in your country), I'm astonished from how good Le Bron is at passing the ball. His way of making defence-splitting passes, his trough balls, his long perfect passes are soo similiar to the ones of the best playmakers in football (I always mean soccer), only difference he does is on a basketball court. That's why I like both him and basket, cos in some aspects it's very familiar to football. Is he the greatest playmaker in the history of basketball?

He is in my opinion, im French, so i watch a lot of football too, and Lebron playmaking/passing is like Paul Pogba, he can do absolutely every passes because he is tall, strong, accurate and skilled with amazing vision. Only difference is Lebron is consistent, Pogba isn’t .. But if you watch Pogba highlights especially at Juventus or with France, you will see passes that nobody can do except him, like 70 meter lazer passes, from both feet, trivela passes, volley passes, lob passes, backheel passes, roulette passes, troughball passes …

The behind the back bounce pass to Mozgov towards the end of the video could look off for a second, but he only bounced it closer to himself so the ball could go higher to hit Mosgov's hands/catching box. He wouldn't do it close with a shorter player because it'd go over their head. He and his teammates have said he gets the ball to players with the seams the way the player prefers it (absurd) so to bounce the ball this way seems to pale in comparison to that, so i don't think I'm tripping here. Lol he'd do the bounce closer to a shorter player or someone who's closer, naturally. But to get the passes off is entirely different story.

@@Marco-sy5ke if he was not so lazy on defense nowadays and 2011 did not happen and his inability to play on a team where he is not the sole centerpiece then he would be above bird. Bird is a better shooter than lebron and also a better rebounder and I would give a slight edge to bird in passing lebron is very underrated as a passer. If bird played in this era he would undoubtedly be better than lebron. The reason is that the league has changed where the 3 point shot in a necessary for a team to win in birds day it was not the players back then were focused more on the inside game players of today have a better face up game on average than players of the 80s and 90s but players back then were better at post play. Bird would have thrived into this era. Bird himself even said he never worked on the 3 point shot. In clutch shooting I would give an edge to bird (lebron is underrated as a clutch shooter) bird is also more technically sound than lebron. Bird was a true master of the triple threat. Lebron also does not make his team better as he must have everything revolve around him if you look at the stats of players he has been with most of them did better than they did with lebron. And also if your crying of the rule changes then be mature and grow up stop crying to the past. Bird surviving this era? He couldnt even survive the Bad Boys.
