I often hear these younger dudes asking "why" players during MJ's era tried blocking or defending his dunks/attacking at the rim. It's because they were competing. If you get dunked on, who cares? That's part of the game. At least you tried and got dunked on by the best. In the modern NBA, the defense is soft and so is the effort. If a guy gets in the lane, it parts like the Red Sea. It's like modern players are afraid of getting embarrassed so they won't even try to make a play on the ball. That's a reason many old-heads like me don't like the modern NBA.

MJ is the GOAT. The next best is a distant second, and it is not LeBron. At every level of competition, college onward, MJ has been a winner. And he has been almost always spectacular while doing it all. As a player and as a professional, there is no comparison to him. He has been far less successful when it comes to owning or coaching a team. People who have played basketball at a high level see that he is fundamentally one of the most sound players, ever. And his competitive spirit and level of energy was off the charts. Her was a killer on the court. The guy you actually want with the ball in the last few seconds of the game! People like Bird and Magic were cut from the same cloth. Perhaps Kobe had those virtues as well. And then of course Wilt, Kareem and Russell were physical specimens who were difficult to match. Russell with a will to win perhaps belongs in that first category but talent wise he was not as gifted. Hakeem was a consummate artist with a strong spirit. Look what we are learning of the NBA these days, most are on Marijana, etc. The society is starting to break down. These people cannot be seen in the same light as those I mentioned. Half the time people are paying only lip service to playing defense. Yes, distance shooting has improved. But in every other facet of the game there is a decline.

There’s a better video of highlights for mj out there. Historic Bulls Mixtape and the Voyager reel or amazing showcases of all that he could do. He was a better defender too. One of the all time greats at defense. Check out the goat comparison too and you’ll see why he’s the GOAT. That being said, Lebron is a great player and I think people take away from his accomplishments by always trying to compare him to MJ, but MJ really is the GOAT. Best all around player I’ve ever seen.

You have a short memory, Jordan hit 2 3s in the first part of the video and in this game against the the Blazers he hit 6 3s inthe first half which was game 1 on the 92 NBA Finals. He had 35 points in the first half which is still an NBA Finals record to this day.

Dude stop Kobe didn’t always have the killer mindset. Two years into the league after playing with grown men and not really performing well Kobe developed his Black Mamba persona. Jordan came into the league with his junkyard dog mindset. Tracy McGrady said Kobe copied every move Jordan had. Kobe tried to make himself into Micheal Jordan down to the mannerisms. Lebron never faced real defense, he played in the weakest and easiest era on the NBA. I cant count him as goat material because of that. He is a great player but all the guys in the GOAT debate that came before him played in the toughest era of the NBA, Jordan went through hell to get his first NBA Championship.
