you never ask to refer the previous video while covering the previous topic in the next video. However, you explain that previous topic again in brief. This actually helped me to understand normalization and closure method, though I check your this closure video while I was watching your normalization practice questions video. Before visiting your channel, I had checked other channel's videos also but I was unable to understand any topic as they were asking to visit the previous video. Obviously you can't expect a new visitor to check all videos your at once if visitor is not a student but a professional. I am glad that I found your channel.

15:06 The FD is BC-->D, which means you need B and C to get D. But you have splitted the FD as B-->D and C-->D which is wrong. The splitting property doesn't work like that, eg: if A-->BC then you can split it to A-->B and A-->C, not like the way you did.

Hello Mr. Varun. As an online study we are very happy with all your lectures and your presentations . Please Keep up with all your services. All the best wishes from Bangladesh. In your DBMS class in lecture : 22 (Finding Closure of Functional dependency in DBMS ).... in the time interval 15.18/17.46 you lectured that. .... DE+ = B i.e you only replace the D with only B ... but BC->D...then why didn't you replace it as DE+ = BC...and then find the closure BCE+????And in lecture 23(Functional dependencies and its properties) you already marked as if xy->z than x->z and y->z never be occurred ... Moreover, if x-> yz then we can write .. x->y and x->z individually. ... So please help me to eliminate my confusion.. again love & respect & deep support for you from Bangladesh for your contribution. Thanks a lot.

Sir as u say candidate key are minimal so how we can combine AE or DE as candidate key
@legasrielumalai8043
@legasrielumalai8043 3 года назад
I think, he said candidate key is minimal, this doesn't mean that candidate key should be a single attribute. In that example if we take closure for a single attribute it doesn't form candidate key. So we can take combination of attributes such as AE which will become our candidate key. Here AE is minimal not A.
@amit058

@Skyvastern
@Skyvastern 3 года назад
@@amit058 In the example shown in the video, there's no attribute in the table which can be a candidate key alone. So that's why we are going with a combination of two attributes. But if there was a candidate key possible with only one single attribute, then we would have simply ignored keys with a combination of two or more attributes.
