Team Micro flew to Tempe, AZ for Lectric Media Days, where their team unveiled their latest e-bike creation: The Lectric ONE. Somehow the madmen over at Lectric HQ managed to load this bike up with some of the premium tech out there, while keeping the price at a shockingly low $1,999. It's headlined by a Pinion gearbox with a Gates Carbon belt drivetrain, hardware you typically only see on bikes that cost north of $10,000. We took it out for a long test ride, including some off-road adventuring that this commuter bike was definitely NOT intended for!
Shoutout to @DavidBrandNew, be sure to check out his channel!

Priority has Pinion on bikes that are absolutely not remotely close to $10,000 (non e-bikes, I know, but still) I love this bike, and I already have one on pre-order. Good video.

I like they did the announcement at the Culdesac development, on top of their existing partnerships with them.

haha, throwing unnecessarily expensive components on a cheap build so you get a $2k around town bike with Chaoyang tires, a poorly welded low quality rigid fork, a budget squarewave controller and cadence sensor with a 10ah battery. Why add those components if the rest of the build is going to be junk that will end up in a landfill.

Great move by lectric to bring these premium components to an affordable price range. Great, realiable commuter bike!

Two premium components to a below budget bike. The rest belong on a Wal-Mart bike.

Gates c1.12i is on 3500 bikes just not electric in USA but then all the other parts on non ebike are worth more than all parts on this by far. Still 2000 for a c1.Xi is nice for full build

When is this bike going to be available?
@phenomtron

Thinking strongly about placing my preorder. Just want to know your thoughts on the handlebar stability. I know this bike has no suspension, but will it still be able to handle gravel paths at higher speeds?
@MicromobilityIndustries
@MicromobilityIndustries 3 месяца назад
It's going to be a rough ride if you're going fast on gravel. The front fork is suspension corrected so you could upgrade it to a suspension fork - I'd definitely recommend that if you'll be riding on gravel a lot! We did a few miles of riding on gravel and rocky trails, on one of the bikes the stem rattled loose from all the vibrations.

@@MicromobilityIndustries that's fair enough. I'll probably just adjust speeds on non paved surfaces. Will the tires have any self sealing or defense to pinch flats?

Pretty cool. I like the idea of NO CHAIN, NO DERAILER and NO EXTERNAL GEARS because . . . I have the Lectric XPremium and those are the components on my bike I am dissatisfied with. Would love it if Lectric could offer a rear geared hub and carbon fiber belt upgrade for the XPremium to replace the derailleur drive system. That would make the XPremium perfect in my opinion. If anyone knows how I could make those changes to my XPremium please reach out. ;-)
@MicromobilityIndustries
@MicromobilityIndustries 2 месяца назад
Sadly probably not possible for your XPremium 😭 Since it has a rear hub motor there's no way to also use a geared rear hub. Only option would be a Pinion gearbox at the bottom bracket, but the XPremium's frame is not designed for that so no way to mount it.

My gut feeling it it's a no go at $2K, most casual bikers will not spent $2K on a bike. I understand it's a "good" value, but Lectric aimed a bit high this time, the bike itself lack more style, heck it only come in black not even white or blue? They really needed to create a high style bike, this is why Super73 can move their bike from $2K to $3K. I don't think it's a bad bike, but 2k is 2k it will be a niche product.

DOES IT ALLOW FOR REVERSE STEERING STEM FOR SHORT ARMED WIFE? The only thing stopping us from buying 2 is that i need to reverse the steering stem for my 5' 3" wife with short reach. She tried the 3.0 with the stem reversed and picked up 5 inches but I don't know if the ONE also does that.
@MicromobilityIndustries
@MicromobilityIndustries 2 месяца назад
I'm not familiar with reverse steering stems, but check out Turtle Neck Stems made by @DavidBrandNew. They allow you to customize a lot more than the stock setup, might just fit the bill. www.davidbrandnew.com/store/p/turtle-neck-stem-fx

Doesnt the Priority 600 have a Pinion at $2500?
@MicromobilityIndustries
@MicromobilityIndustries 3 месяца назад
Yes, but the Priority 600 is just a standard bike, not electric. It also doesn't have Smart Shift (electronic shifting with configurable automatic mode), plus other differences. It is still a great deal for that price though!

What is the range?
@MicromobilityIndustries
@MicromobilityIndustries 2 месяца назад
Can't say for sure without doing a range test, but Lectric advertises 45 miles with the standard battery. I'd say that's reasonable if you're pedaling along, throttle-only range would be closer to 25-30 miles (just guessing of course)

i don't understand why what they tried to achieve here. the whole point of pinion is you can get down to a short climbing gear while still using large diametre tyres. for bmx wheels you can get away with using an alfine hub while still having 19 inches on the lowest while still staying within the torque limit of the hub. (minimum 1.8:1 ratio of chainring and cog for alfine e.g. 36x20, no such limit for pinion of course) using pinion for a small wheel bike, especially electric, just seems like a wasted pinion p1.6.

Can a 90 yr old handle this bike?
@MicromobilityIndustries
@MicromobilityIndustries 2 месяца назад
Depends on the 90 yr old 😁 If they can handle a regular bike, probably. It weighs 60-ish pounds, pretty easy to get on thanks to the step-thru frame. Has a good balance of stability and agility.
