Lectric ONE review: Pure electric fun

The Lectric ONE is the first bike I have tried with a Pinion transmission system and now I am hooked. That system, combined with the Gates Carbon Belt drive and Lectric quality means I can ride this bike for thousands of miles with very little maintenance. Commuters need a reliable bike that gets the job done daily and the Lectric ONE does this while providing the most enjoyable riding sessions I have ever experienced.

The problem I have isn't with the choice of a Pinion, but the choice of a C1.6. The C1.6 is the proverbial "bottom of the barrel" of the Pinion line, it drops the lowest 4-6 gears of range in comparison to it's bigger siblings. The low end grunt work is left to the electric motor. For those wondering, I speak from experience with a C1.12 and the P1.18.

I just received my Lectric One. So far so good. Really liked your review. Very informative and spot on! Thanks

I already own a Lectric 3.0 and an xp lite I have an urge to buy the ONE now😮

I have an XP Lite as well, but I just cannot stop riding the ONE. The Pinion transmission is just so dang responsive and I love never having to shift gears manually.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to reviews of the production version. Those panniers seem so close to the pedals. Is there any bumping of your heels on the panniers?
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 3 месяца назад
Yeah, you might think that about the panniers, but even with my size 12 shoes I never struck them. I even had one on each side for my 39-mile trek and all was good.

I was wondering how stable it feels at 28 MPH considering the small wheels and no suspension? I have the XP Lite, is the ride similar?
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 3 месяца назад
The ONE feels more stable and I think it’s because of the large battery under the seat and lower center of gravity of the bike. I don’t feel uneasy at all on the ONE at the high speeds.

It's stable. No problem.

Is it true you need to change the oil on the Pinion Transmission once a year?
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 3 месяца назад
The official recommendation is changing the oil after 6200 miles of 1 year, whichever comes first. I did a quick search and it looks like an oil change kit is only about $25 and it looks pretty easy too. i would love to have a system like this on most of my bikes.

@@palmsolo You will have to remove the electric shift module to access the top hole. The manual says it is a delicate operation. I would like to see a video of this as it is deferent than other models.

I will be purchasing this bike in august and I'm glad to have finally found a recent review on it.

I have the opportunity to test a LOT of e-bikes, but I keep coming back to the ONE. It may seem a bit small for me, but it is powerful and a sheer joy to ride.

I just got my Lectric One. It's logic is a bit weird in autoshift mode. When I get to about 10-15 mph, the Pinion is in 2nd or 3rd gear, and it's time to shift, but it doesn't. I am then basically stuck at that speed range because I can't peddle fast enough to push the tires. Does yours doe this?
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 2 месяца назад
Do you pause for a couple of seconds to let it switch? I just pause and it always shifts to the right gear. Did you connect your phone to manage the Pinion system too? You can tweak things in the smartphone app.
@euroclyde
@euroclyde 2 месяца назад
@@palmsolo Yep, I pause. I've also played with my rpm settings in the app.

Have you had any issues with shifting so far or has it been entirely smooth and seamless?
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 3 месяца назад
I haven't had any issues with shifting, it always seems to get it right when it comes to auto shifting to the gear I need for the situation. I just pause my pedaling for about a second and the Pinion gear does its thing. If I go up very steep inclines suddenly, I have shifted manually using the right levers to get to a lower gear faster.

Would you go with Lectric One or Velotec Fold 1?
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 3 месяца назад
Depends on where you are riding. For myself, the Lectric ONE beats out just about every other bike I have tried. The Velotric Fold 1 is a solid bike if you want a foldable bike.

I would like at least 20 amp battery. Batteries degrade with time so you want to start with a large battery. I have an e-bike that’s 15 amp but goes only 10 kms with pedal assist.
@danstenis660
@danstenis660 3 месяца назад
Needs a bigger battery or dual battery. Also Pinion C1.6 gearbox's gear range is only 295%, necessitating a cadence of 90rpm to achieve 28mph. On the lowest gear, a cadence of 60rpm results in 6.4mph, which will be a problem when the battery is out on a steep hill. Using the Pinion C1.9 gearbox (568% gear range) would avoid the lack of gear range.
@palmsolo

There is an extended battery option.

Is this bike smaller than the 3.0. ?
@STEVE15381326
@STEVE15381326 2 месяца назад
About the same. I had the 3.0 and now have the one. The one feels lighter, and you can tell it has more power.
