April 13, 2023. I have not forgotten you. I want to buy a trike , but I am waiting for the money to arrive. I had a deprived childhood because I could not ride a bike (no balance). There were no tricycles larger than toddler size. I am now 75 years old. Now I can have my bike, although with three wheels and an electric motor. Thank you for providing it. Elin Larson.
I'm a 69 year old gentleman who is very overweight and in a couple of months, I was thinking about buying a XP Step Thru 3.0. But now I am completely in love, like a little puppy, with this trike! I have mobility issues so this will be even better than the 3.0 because the threshold to swing my leg over is even lower than the 2.0 or 3.0 Step Thru's. I'm going to save a little more and give myself the gift of buying this wonderful and beautiful Lectric Trike. Lectric is doing fantastic! Thank you people. Love it!!!
In December and January, I bought two XP 3.0's. One for my wife. After further review, I ordered this trike yesterday. She hasn't ridden a bicycle in over fifty years and that had a coaster brake. That fact made me consider the Rad, but the price and front wheel motor told me to stick with Lectric. Your review made the choice easy, and I did use your link.
Thank you for the review. I’ve been a RAD owner for years. Recently diagnosed with advanced osteoporosis, and on blood thinners I canNot risk a fall. I’ve missed riding my bike while living in a warm climate this winter. I just have to get over my pride, this trike might just do the trick! Thanks!
This review has made my day! Thank you! My search is over, this is the trike for me. I am a disabled artist, and have been trying to find a transportation solution to get out on my own to paint. Perfect - hydraulic brakes, rear differential, very nice price!
Many loyal customers have been waiting for this reliable brand to come out with this product. Lectric reliability and well thought out design will make this trike another success for the brand. Congrats
You all are by far the BEST ebike review channel on RU-vid. I'm in the market for a etrike. I think I am representative of the target market for this trike: a little older, a little larger, not as fit as I used to be, but want to get out and enjoy my walk and ride friendly community. When I was younger, I used to be a pretty into mountain biking and always wanted the latest innovation, and thus additional cost (last two bikes were a Cannondale Raven first gen with carbon fiber frame and aluminum spine, and a Cannondale Raven 2nd gen with thermoplastic frame with magnesium spine. My point being that the price point for this Lectric XP Trike is about the same as what I paid for just one of these Cannondale's back in the late 90's. Considering the specs, to me, this is a bargain. If the Mrs. gives me the go, will definitely go through your link😉 Keep up the great content!.
This is what I'm talking about 3 times better then the red trike and $1,000 cheaper can't wait to get mine awesome review as always keep up the good work guys
Great to see Lectric compete in trikes. Love the competition, especially for price. I’m a bit leery of the tipping on two wheels when turning though. I hope that can be stabilized. I would imagine many people that would buy these would be elderly or those with mobility issues.
I haven't rode one of these yet, but have watched other trike brands/models being ridden in other RU-vid videos. It appears this tipping on two rear wheels is a concern with trikes in general. I've seen videos that explain how to ride trikes when turning and they demonstrate how to avoid or greatly minimize the likelihood of such tipping up on two wheels. Mainly, the strategy I've seen is to lean into the turn, not opposite the turn, and to slow down enough before starting the turn. Probably practice under various conditions will help the rider determine what slower speeds will work best while turning. Good luck on your search for a sufficiently stable electric trike.
Trikes do not tip over half as easily as people think. All you need to do is put most of your weight on the inside pedal as you turn. You don't want to make tight right angle turns, but you don't do that on a two wheeled either. Think about how low to the ground your pedals are. Imagine putting 100 or 150 pounds of weight that low to the ground on the inside of a turn by half standing on the pedal. This lowers the center of gravity drastically.
I was getting ready to buy a comparable electric trike for $3,000.00. I am glad I saw your video before I bought the unit I was looking to buy. I love the fact that I can buy extra batteries also. I plan on buying 3 extra batteries which will give me a fantastic range and still pay less for the unit I almost purchesed. Thanks for the review. It was well done Ebike Escape!
@@EbikeEscape I am handicapped and I live out in the county. I go to many doctor's appointments and I need to make sure I never run out of power. By the way, the state line is only 20 minutes from my home. I'm looking forward to buying the Lectric trike. As far as I am concernred you saved me a lot of money and I got more and payed less for it.
I understand, as I bought one extra battery along with an extra charger. My daily runs will use about 1.5 batteries dependant on charge levels and PAS. But having two chargers going, will be ideal, rather than having to Wait 12 hours for two batteries to charge up.
Very interesting and well thought out, I'm ordering one for my 72 year old wife whose hip issue does not allow her to pedal very much if at all. While I'm at it, I ordered a XP 3.0 for myself so that we can ride together.😃
I think this is amazing. Good on Lectric for designing a well Engineered and safe affordable etrike. I think it is unbeatable. Thank you for such a informative indepth review.
Just received and tried my Trike yesterday after hubby checked all safety issues. Definitely a learning curve next to my 2 wheel ebike. The quick turning is a learning curve for me. Practice in learning mode. I fell 3 times on the bike. At 75 it is hard to accept I have some balance and reaction issues. The reach is much better and the step through much easier for me. I am excited to use and learn with the help of my husband. First purchase accessory is the eyeglass mirror for us both as he is guarding and coaching me. Next Helmet!
Thank you so much for this review! We have been searching for an affordable three wheel electric bike and this is wonderful! Looking forward to your episode on the final product!
You guys have a great formula for presenting and condensing the info in a great fluid way. You and Hsiang ( EUC youtube reviewer) are on my top reviewers list
@@EbikeEscapeI would love to see a video of it folded and put inside a small SUV, like a Chevy Trax, to see how it fits (with the back seats down of course).
I think this is a great addition to their stable of products, especially with the atypical hydraulic disc brakes and dual rear drive for this category at this price point! I’m not at the stage where I’ll benefit from the trike format but I’ll get there eventually, and hopefully this will be there, with more upgrades, when I’m ready. 😅
Great review. We are proud owners of 2 lectric 2.0’s , but my wife has some issues with stability with 2 wheels. I think this will be the icing on the cake for her to be comfortable riding with me by purchasing the etrike for improved riding comfort and confidence. Thanks you guys for great information. Dave
I’m stoked!! Wish it had been around a couple years earlier! I spent about that much on a pedal trike just to find that model couldn’t handle a motor, bought a two wheel ebike and got forced into a curb by a city bus and now I can’t ride at all!! This bike at the price point gives me hope again!! Really cool high quality equipment, and I really love the rear drive and differential!! The lack of that is what turned me off on the pedal trike I had bought
This is nice looking package. Forget what this guys says about this being a "mobility" device, like wheelchair. Trikes are fun for anyone. If you live in a neighborhood situation where you might consider having a golf cart, and trike is an alternative. Most adult trikes are one wheel drive and the motor is usually on the front wheel, so this has some very substantial advantages. Trikes are much more stable than most people who have never used one will assume. My wife and I both ride electric trikes - we've got several two wheel bikes and three electric trikes. Electric trikes are lots of fun and make a great neighborhood vehicle for hauling groceries, art supplies, camera equipment, swimming pool gear like towels and beverages, etc. IF you want to corner at higher speeds, you just put your weight on the pedal to the inside of the turn. If you think about it, once you've put a lot of weight that low to the ground, the trike has a pretty low center of gravity. However, probably 3 out of 4 people who get on a trike for the first time experience a lot of anxiety. The more accustomed you are to bicycling, the more likely it is you might be afraid to make a turn without being able to bank or lean into the turn. On a trike, you just shift your weight on the seat for slow turns and support your weight on the inside pedal instead of the seat when you are making faster turns.
❤ I searched and searched and searched for days. And then I found Lectric Trike, It will be my car 🚗.. I totaled my car in January .I can't afford another car and I can't afford the insurance because the accident was my fault. So now I will have wheels..and my dogs can roll down the road with me 😊
Great design and great value 👏 I like the Rad Trike too but you it pales in comparison. I'm 62 years old and still enjoy my ebikes but I have been looking at a trike for the future less agile me and this is by far going to be the leader in my book!
Thank you for doing these reviews!! I just bought an xp trike for my mom. She loves riding bikes but has aged out of the two wheeler. She was just reminiscing how much she missed going for a ride. The Trike will be a surprise and one that she’ll no doubt really be excited about.
Everytime I think that I am going to cancel my pre-order I watch a video on the trike. I can't wait to get it. Being disabled and on the heavy side I need to get out and about and get some exercise. This is the perfect bike for people who are disabled. I got the upgraded seat and with the pre-order as you stated I will get the cargo holders. I'm moving to the Philippines in June and I will be shipping this baby to my new home. Thanks for the video
I absolutely love my xp 2.0 i have almost 7000 miles on it, no problems really i have a few upgrades and an extra battery and it's been such ba good bike. Looked like this trike should be just fine especially for older people and just to have as a small utility ev it's good job lectric
I pre-ordered two. For me and my wife, who can not ride a two-wheeler. I thought I would feel uncomfortable riding one of these, but after seeing this, I look forward to riding with my wife and picnicking in the park. Thanks
I purchased a 3.0 from Lectric and am more than pleased with it. The head light is the more powerful one as displayed on the trike. I live in Arizona and have visted the facility on three occasions. I am never surprised at how great they treat their customers. I have only had minor service requirements performed but met someone who was not happy when they first arrived, but commented on how Lectric had stepped up to the plate and did way more than what he expected. Both of us left extremely happy. My wife will be purchasing the trike and we look forward to returning to lectric to pick up the unit. It seems strange that only last year I was asking about the trike and now it is available and at a very reasonable price.
You hit a couple of key points with this trike & I'll see if I can remember them all. 1. Congratulations on that amazing price point. A trike with that many features will be the bench mark others will have to compete against. 2. Choice of tires. Completely agree. The 2.6 street tires & tubes will not only roll better, they are a much more sensible choice for this style of trike which are not stable on uneven off road conditions & should be far cheaper to replace. 3. The folding feature should make it a little easier to load or store into vehicles. 4. Great choice on making it a true Mid Motor with rear wheel drive. Far better & no torque steer from the front wheel motor types. 5. Differential, still amazed that it comes with 2 wheel drive for better cornering, handling & traction. I would make one suggestion change the handlebar adjustment from bolts to quick releases to make it easier for other family members to also use the trike.
As long as the Trike rider slows down to 6 mph or less when making sharp turns, no problems. I purchased a helmet with a back red flasher and a white flasher for the front of the helmet. I bought signal lights and an extra bright light for the front handlebar. I purchased a high Vis waterproof coat. A 6’ high high vis flag. Also a high vis vest for the warmer days. The helmet I got is not a full face one (which it should be). But I did get the safest absorbing helmet likely on the market. I got specialized gloves protecting the palms and knuckles. They are full gloves trying to prevent the “FOOSH” (fully opened outstretched hand) injuries. I will not over ride the coding to make the Trike go past 14 mph. Lastly, I’ll carry a good first aid kit and cell phone in case of accidental injuries. I looked at countless You Tube videos on the Lectric XP Trike and decided on its purchase. I’m a retired paramedical college professor and have seen many traumatic injuries in the field. There is certainly risk to riding the Trike, but following Lectric’s recommendations, risks are minimal to my 70 year old body. Yes, time will tell and I’m looking forward to my Trike arriving this May.
Have had my trike about a month now. Learning a little at a time about this awesum machine. At 65 years old riding and learning to adjust from a 2 wheel bike is a definite difference. The Electric people have done their homework well. Seriously considering a purchase of the step thru 2 wheeler XP3.
I'm looking forward to being able to afford this trike. I have mobility issue, this trike will allow me to get out to do shopping & just see more in general. Thanks for giving the width it will fit though my door. 😊
I have been looking at various electric trikes for my husband and I to take along when we go RVing. This bike looks to be exactly what I am searching for. I have extreme RA and this trike may be the one I've been searching for. Thank you for the awesome explanation of the entire bike.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊I got my bike on Wednesday June 14 ,2023 and tonight I finished taking my first ride so far so good,I’m so so so happy, I can’t wait to go shopping and then I got to figure out how to install my basket , thank you Lectric trike
Great video. I'm vision impaired, so am no longer driving. I need something to get around locally, but still have the range if I wanted to go out further without exhausting me. I was nervous about getting anything that goes too fast since I need to watch out for what's in front of me. I went from not knowing if I wanted to get any type of ebike, to placing an order for this trike mostly on the strength of this review alone.
Yes...finally a well priced etrike from American well known brand 👏..2023 is the year of the etrike as other brands start making them. I believe this etrike will be huge success for lectric. I'm looking forward to buy one.
Very interested in this bike. Due to health reasons I can no longer ride my regular bike but would very much like to continue biking. This particular model seems to meet all my needs😊
Hubby and I purchased Lectric xp 2.0 and love them. Unfortunately, in January 2022 I had an accident and broke both wrists. Needless to say, getting back on the bike is too traumatic for me. I am 75 and not quite as capable as I once was. We are considering purchasing the trike for me so I can still ride along with hubby. Thanks for keeping the price point at an affordable level.
Great review, guys! I planned a trip to Lectric to test ride their bikes. I travel and live a greater part of the year in my GMC Savana 2500 cargo van. Being able to fit in my van with all my travel and survival gear is crucial as space is limited. Their new Lectric Lite seems to be an option but if a 2.0 or even a 3.0 will fit then they will be considered as well. Thanks for sharing.
I am looking at getting one of these tracks, I lost my leg in March and want to get out and be in the great outdoors again.I will use this to shoot archery, already have ideas for carrying my bow and quiver
Thanks for the great information. I pre-ordered the trike yesterday after watching your review. It will be May before it is delivered. I wonder if I'll be able to install a derailleur. Anyway, I am excited and really looking forward to getting back in the saddle after years and years of wiping the dust off my old touring bike in the garage.
I like it, but I live in Oklahoma and shock absorbers on the front and rear would be nice just because of the condition of the roads and bike paths. I also think that a reverse trike would also be better.
Ahh reverse… this trike turns on a dime. No need for reverse. Shock absorbers are ok for MTB bikes, but this Trike is designed and engineered for the senior who will be on paved bike paths - no off reading is the intent. So the shock absorbers idea becomes mute.
@Db reverse trike is putting the two wheels in the front. As for the shocks to quote a meme I saw, in Europe they drive on the left side of the road, here in Oklahoma we drive on what is left of the road. Even on road here is off road.
I think a reverse trike would work better for me as well, but I kind of need something sooner than later. I hope they don't just come out with a reverse trike in the next year or so because then I'll be upset for spending this much money😂
This is one of the best ones I've seen and I've been researching since I bought my e-bike in 2020. Even a little bit lower center of gravity would be nice. A little lower and a couple inches wider in the back
@@steveg2406 this is a big benefit the only other trike I know of that can fit more easily through a door is the Liberty Trike which I own but it lacks a lot of what this is offering and is 150 dollars more
See my problems with this etrike (mentioned in another comment on this thread). This is the most unstable-feeling thing I have ever ridden on, and I feel the center of gravity is just too high. Any horizontal slope at all and you feel like you are tipping over and the trike wants to pull into that slope. It feels like you are fighting it to even stay on the road. I see there are lots of positive reviews, so I will get on this thing again and see if I can make it work--before I take it to the dump! I dread even getting back on it because it feels like I am going to tip over. (And I have already ended up in the ditch once--just trying to go straight, not turning or going fast!) Heaven help me if I even try to make a turn on a road in my Tennessee neighborhood! My husband also felt very unstable on this, and he is an excellent bike rider. He said it feels like the seat is leaning to the right and so you have to fight the trike to keep upright. He wonders if there were a way to make the seat stay level--even if there is a slope, because you are fighting to lean into the slope, but the seat is staying parallel to the frame. (I don't know if I am explaining this well. I just think some folks need to go back to the drawing board )
You might be interested in a recumbent e-trike with what you are describing. They are lower to the ground and have wider spaced rear tires. Because of the wider spaced rear tires it is VERY hard to bring outside/inside a normal exterior door of a house. You would need to keep this in a garage or just leave it outside when not in use.
Lectric e-Trike is one of the VERY few to get it right . Most companies use a front motor that's pretty worthless, I always tell people to use a mid-drive or rear locked rear motor, and have built a few mid-drives.........but yes these guy did it correctly
Thanks guys for your review. I ordered the trike today (using your link, of course) for my 83 yr old father. Generally I am not an early adopter. Crossing my fingers hoping for no issues. Thank you again for the review.
Thank you for this review as it helped with some of the questions, I submitted to Lectric and specifically with the dimensions and putting it in a SUV. I'm even more excited to order this for my Wife who really doesn't ride any bike but want's this so we can ride together along with my 2.0ST.
Love this Lectric trike. Maybe one of these days I can afford one. It would help me out considerably since, I have dizziness and vertigo. Keep on keeping on 💪🇺🇸
Thank you for this review. It was informative and very easy to understand. I have been researching E-Trikes and the Lectric XP checks all of my boxes and then some.
Years ago we had a blast riding the Schwinn Town & country tricycles around on two wheels. That is the last tricycle that I know of that had a true differential, so the peddling power tended to go to the wheel off the ground, limiting the ability to pedal down the street with one wheel up - we had to drop all three wheels to the ground to regain speed. However, what was entertaining for a bunch of bicycle mechanics is likely to be less entertaining for 70 year old grandma - these can and will tip and the trike tends to end up on top of you. As Schwinn dealers we had an advantage that Lectric does not have. We could spend as much time as we needed to in the parking lot with a customer. By the time we were done, the customer at least had an awareness that the trikes could be pretty easily tipped. The first six pages of their owners manuals are going to need to be full of cautions and they're probably going to have to have you sign a waiver. Lectric has done a really nice job in this form factor, it's just that this form factor has inherent issues. They also need to replace the final drive chain with a belt. Lectric has no experience with bb drive bikes, so they may not be aware of how fast that chain wears when you put a motor plus leg power on it. That back chain is going to be wearing quickly and it doesn't look like it's any fun to replace. Everything else about this trike looks absolutely beautiful. I'm just a skeptic about this type of trike.
I have an Addmotor trike and like it, but I never change any if the gears and feel it goes a little too fast on pedal assist 1. I do like the travel on the front fork and Lectric should add that, just to help with any bumps. I really like how you have the differential as I have tipped over on mine. I am seriously thinking of selling mine and buying this one. Thanks for the review!
I will use your link to purchase an Letric XP Trive. I found your review informative and based upon what I was looking at, I will save a fair amount of money. I am 75 and I need transportation for shopping and getting around for appointments and the XP Trike will definitely fit my needs.
I just used you affiliate link to purchase the xp Trike. Thank you for your reviews on this product. I did watch some reviews you did for other eBikes and this product seems to me to be the best option for me. I am a 75 year old man from the east bay of San Francisco.
I will be purchasing my Lectric XP Trike in about a week. I live in a golf country club community, but don't golf so didn't want to buy a 15K golf cart, the electric trike looks like the perfect option. My friend purchased the two-wheeler but I want to the three-wheeler trike.
I'm looking at Etrikes again, especially after seeing the distances I want to travel, and this thing looks freakin sweet, and it's hard to believe they're selling it for that price.
I really want this bike. I was hoping to spend around 500. After this review, I believe I will give this one a try. I’m a veteran. This will be nice for delivery around the neighborhood.
From the UK, one of the best, reviews, instructive, and in depth from a disability perspective, and affordable , here's hoping they ship to UK suppliers, especially for disabled very helpful .... Just UK, electric plug adapter possibly needed. But hope UK suppliers take note. Of this trikes overall package and specs very helpful for disabled limited knee movement good on just electric mode , and range is good.
I think that Lectric has opened themselves up to some serious problems with the introduction and sale of their XP Trike. While the use of a differential will certainly help, the reality is that this vehicle is inherently dangerous and there is bound to be litigation when customers start flipping them. Watching JT go around at a slight speed and seeing the outside wheel leave the surface is an example of what is going to happen and I don't mean "maybe" going to happen. Adding to that is the fact that they bike can be "unlocked" to increase the maximum speed over 14 mph. While the narrowness is great for folding, it is also great for tipping. People with mobility issues would be far better off on a trike with front dual wheels and the large wheel in the rear. The fact is that many riders, especially the uninitiated will hit the corners going too fast and over they are going to go. From that will follow litigation! I must also take issue with your fondness for the twist throttle. Perhaps former or current motorcycle riders will enjoy the twist throttle, but average riders and new riders, I feel would be safer with a thumb throttle that is less likely to be accidentally engaged while riding especially on a trike in a corner.
I wouldn't worry about litigation. As long as your product works as advertised and isn't manufactured with negligence; it's all good. Innovation would be dead if you worry about potential litigation. Someone will always find a reason to sue about something; whether it is legitimate or not is another question.
i was thingking the same as i remember how many millions honda had to pay out because of their 3 wheel ATCs[all terrain vehicle] motorcycle in the late 80s...with 300,000 injuries 1000 deaths within 5 years from it being released.....and a reason why they were banned but if your in the law industry litigation field its a jackpot for injury lawyers
Thanks for this video, I have a french e-trike in France but this is the coolest video I have found (even if I hade to set set the video speed 0,75 to understand what you said 😂)
I have ordered the trike but I'm starting to feel doubt about it. I'm 79 years old and wonder if I ought to move forward. I'm not a small woman and I'm hoping this trike will help me get more exercise. Some of the reviews show the back wheels lifting when making a turn. It sounded fun when I first considered the purchase. Now I'm feeling scared that I've made a bad decision.
Take your time to get use to it, I have rode just about every type of motorcycle out there at 63 years of age. they are all different the one thing they all have in common is they are fun after you learn or get use to riding them. I have had both forward and reverse trikes, sidecar bikes on and off rode bikes 3 and 4 wheel ATV`S so you can trust that I know alot about the learning curve take your time and learn the trike don`t give up on the first ride the fun will improve with experience
bought a macwheel lne 16 around the time of lockdowns to exercise while touching some grass but I never learned to ride a bike. thought the 16" wheels would be easier for me to recover by putting my feet down without leaning but since the bike tries to do a natural sitting position for riding, my legs would always scuff against the pedals. after 2 days of trying to learn to keep my balance on a bike, and numerous scratches and bruises on my knees and shins, I gave up. and since the frame of the bike doesn't allow for training wheels or permanent stabilizing wheels, I sold it to my friend who had his sondors ebike stolen. said that bike is straightforward and it has power for only 250w since it's a rear motor instead of a front like more affordable ebikes and a twist throttle. it's fun and he'd happily take it off my hands. when he said that, made me start looking for another form for personal electric transit that didn't challenge my nonexistent sense of balance without making my wallet cry. 1500 is still a big a ask for me but I get an added wheel to help my inability to balance myself, single speed to avoid the guess work or changing gears based on terrain, twist throttle to avoid any more injury to my tendinitis, rear motor with differential for low speed turning, foldable and wide enough to clear doors, a basket to carry groceries and items, and awesome range to not use my car of my days off. man, really wish I didn't have to separate living expenses from expenses to having a life. hopefully they won't raise the price by the time I can put aside 1500.
Great review of an awesome eTrike. My wife and I each own a Lectric XP 2.0 and we lovxe it. Time to move to a trike and I will preorder the electric XP trike. Your review mentioned two specifications that are different than shown on the Lectric website. Would you please clarify. Firstly you said it was a 750 W motor but the website shows it as a 500 W motor. Secondly he said it was a single speed Drive but the website shows it has seven speed gears. My only issue which will not be a problem for others is that the 30.5 inch width will not fit my 29 inch door. Never mind, I’ll spend the money I save on the eTrike on widening the door. I like the specs on this electric electric so much and I don’t begrudge having to widen the door. 😊
I looked at the 2 wheeler . At 82 thought ; not 4 me, been researching reverse 3 wheelers. they are pricey, so guess I'll drive over to see you soon, and sign me up for one.
I don’t have the use of my fingers on my throttle hand so the adaptive pedal is perfect and the rear wheel drive is perfect to carry my dog in the rear rack
HI FELLAS,, yes i ordered my trike about 3 weeks ago so i can't wait to ride it, i am 75 yrs old and don't have good balance anymore so i think it is just what the doctor ordered for me .....😁😁😁
Great Videos on the XP Trike ! Question do you know of any Grants available for E Trikes for the Disabled Young Adults ? New Sub Here love the information you all share on E Bikes ! Phil
GREAT review! I'm 99% sure I'll be buying one thanks to YOUR review! My only concerns are with service I may need...closest certified Lectric bike center is 90 miles away.
Great video. You really explained everything so well. I’m 88 and don’t feel safe on my two wheel bike, but I need the exercise. So this might be in the future if I can afford it.
If the production model is proven to be reliable and durable I'm all in and would buy one . I follow many of the popular RU-vid nomad rv'ers who have received free Lectric e bikes and the consensus is that the Lectric brand has a long list of electrical and mechanical issues. This coming from this years Quartzsite, Az. camping crowd. I own an adult peddle trike now with a rear mounted gas motor kit that pushes it along nicely but I want electric next time around. One thing I would pay more for is front suspension even for asphalt roads as many are very bumpy. Thanks for your review.
It is my understanding that people getting their electric bikes and/or battery stolen is a big problem. I think cities should provide bike lockers (mini lockable metal storage boxes) where you could park your electric bike inside while shopping, etc. Also, I can see that it doesn't have any suspension incorporated, which contributes to the lower price. I'd like to see 3 wheel suspension, which would reduce the possibility of one of the rear wheels lifting off the ground, providing more stability overall. I think the cargo compartments are essential components and should be standard on all 3 wheel bikes as well as the best front and real lighting systems. Wider rear wheel spread would also provide better stability.
Oops, my mistake. It is a single-speed, not 7 gears. Not sure what to make of that; my two other 2 wheel e-bikes have 7 speeds? Any comments? The Lectric website does say 500w motor, not 750w.
I think on the left hand, you select five different electric speed levels. Then on the right hand, you select seven different manual type speeds. Like gear one for hills, and speed seven for flat roads.
To get it to tip he had to lean out of the turn. When riding a trike aren't you supposed to lean INTO the turn to prevent tipping? So let's see the trike at the upper speed limit making a turn with the rider leaning into the turn and out of the turn just to see what happens. Also a great way to see the dangers of not riding it safely. Is it possible to extend the width of the two rear wheels to improve stability when making turns? Something like an automatic width adjustment either while the trike is in motion or when it is parked? An electric jack could lift the rear of the trike to allow the two wheels to be extended and then lowered down in one smooth motion without the rider needing to dismount. Add to it a basket that also adjusts in width automatically. When it is time to bring it inside the wheels can then be retracted back to their door clearance setting of about 30 inches.
I bet this is a terrific trike. RAD too. But both are way too heavy for me to load in our RV or SUV. I got my wife a Liberty Trike, and it’s perfect for us. Only 50 lbs, AND pull the folding hinge pin and it splits into 2 very light halves. Great for travelers, and for my old-guy back! It cost $1495 a year and a half ago. Easy to load the XPLite and Liberty Trike, and off we go!
They have not yet developed a rain snow cab for the Senior that wants to use the bike to go to near by stores and pick up local items. We purchased this for my dad to get mail and groceries.
I've had dozens of issues with my 3 various model Lectrics, but I will say their customer service is usually ok with trying to fix things. I want the trike but dont want to get made fun of plus seems a bit slow at half the speed of the other models.
