As a woman, I KNOW that I am NOT permitted to be a preacher, but I have the drive to know and share with others and loved ones. I know as a woman I can teach other women and raise my children in the way that they should go. Thank you Dr. Lawson for making your lectures available to everyone. Even if you do not have the drive to be a preacher, you can benefit from listening to these lectures to know how to study the Word of God. Scripture in its full context is grounded in truth. do you know that the first preacher after Jesus is the Samaritan woman ? share to me one Jesus own words that exclude woman to preach and teach the gospel of Kingdom of God?. The prohibition comes from Paul, the preacher of the gospel of Grace of God. So be glad you are excluded to preach the false gospel, but feel free to preach the gospel of Kingdom of God, if you know what to preach.

Did Jesus told the disciples that Holy Spirit will lead you to the truth ? the truth that set you free, not your faith in false Jesus.

I have this strong impulsion to hear and hear and hear the word of God over and over and to memorize bible verses. I came across the gospel last April thru some videos of Ray conmfort. Ever since then I question stuff at church I got into learning all these religions and now is learning doctrine. I get this type of fury when I hear verses put out of context at church or when preachers from outside come to preach. That drives me to learn more. At this point I don’t know what to do with these information when I do have it all in paper. I love sharing the gospel and also feel driven to go out and wanting to share it. I can’t wait for this cold to leave so I can go outside and share. I’m unsure if it’s what they call first love or if it’s a calling. In the mean while I’m going to finish watching all these videos, equip myself and keep sharing gospel. God bless
Same here. I knew the gospel but, in pieces. Watching Ray Comfort share it with strangers and using his video recordings to teach others how to share it, had made me realize how those pieces were of the whole of the gospel. From there, it led me to learn way more. :-)

My grandfather, who lived during the 30s, 40s, etc., told me that "church," as the community saw it, was entirely different than it is today. His pastor was paid very little and worked as a handyman. The church did preach, but did also REACH out to the community and not just in words. The poor were given food. Some had home repairs done. Unemployed guys would get some work until they got a better job. He said that the community and the church were integrated together. People respected Christianity and many came to the Lord. We're not washing people's feet any more. Preach all you want. Talk about it all you want. People in this country are tuning out because we're preaching but not reaching.
Needs of low income brothers and sisters go unmet b/c they don't know who at church to talk to and the pastor and elders of most larger churches are too busy for them. Or when they leave message or even email, they may go unanswered for weeks. The gov't/world's systems taking care of folks has almost relieved the church of her duties. Way back when it was said "Look how they love each other". 30's and 40's as you said was an entirely different era. Churches were mostly smaller and everybody knew each other. Pastors would often mention someone needing a little help. Now days, you go to church and won't even sit by the same person week to week. Small groups help...but how often are people directed to them? How often are the group leaders introduced or do they just flash on the screen overhead?
I never knew about expository preaching I thank God for it I knew that only his word should be read spoken in the pulpit but I never thought or would be able to be some place where that was but I’m so thankful for being able to know it assist I haven’t been able to find a church where I’m at I long and pray all the time for a church with expository preaching but I thank the lord being able to have a way to have it in my life thank you minister Lawson

I don’t believe I’m being called, or ever will be called to preach. But I am being called to share my hope others and develop these tools. No it does not... that makes no sense, we are born again because of our faith in Christ and His work on the cross, we are given the new heart and the indewlling of the Holy Spirit when we believe... once we have believed the gospel we are sealed by the Father, through the Son with the Holy Spirit

Laskarides Well, I think that's what you receive if you actually "take" or audit the class. That's why people attend colleges and seminaries and pay for them, it isn't just to get the diploma. It is to get the teaching materials, listen to the lectures, have access to the professor after hours, and also take the exams. If someone pirated all if that and posted all the materials, that would be as bad as stealing. Sign up and see if you can audit the class online.
I don't know of & never sat under any preacher who preached expository sermons. J. Vernon McGee is the closest I have heard, but he is a dead Radio preacher.
I have been told that the word preaching is derived from a Latin root "to stab or "to thrust". However, I have been unable to locate any primary sources for this claim. Any suggestions?
I love these types of videos. Can anyone help me out with something? I hear and read a lot of preachers say " carried the idea of ________" as Dr. Lawson does at around the 54:15 mark. I have heard/read it for English, Hebrew, and Greek words. Is there a certain book or set of books from which this comes? Almost every preacher/writer uses the exact same phrase "carries the idea of...." (I know he says the Oxford-English dictionary here, but they have it for Hebrew and Greek as well)

I took courses entitled "Expository Preaching," but it was false; the "Northern Baptist Lloyd Perry method is topical with some exposition. It focuses on a propostion, asks a question of the prop & uses keywords for the main points -- but is it not exposition = having the sermon follow the contours of the passage.

This is a great video and I’m looking to keep on watching the rest of the lectures. I must say I disagree with the take that all sermons must be focused on one text and should start with the Bible. Please hear me out When Jesus preached he used multiple texts. Many of His teachings/preachings came from a question or an issue that was around him. Preaching can also come from your experiences in life (stories). Paul used his conversion over and over again as a tool to get the gospel out. He also used his surroundings (Mars Hill) along with The Spirit to bring out one of the greatest messages ever. This form of expository preaching isn’t the only way and isn’t flawless. Jon Stott was led astray into false teachings though he is considered one of the greatest preachers of the past century. I’m looking forward to watching the rest but I had to say this. Well, if you are a godly preacher, if your life reflects God's Word, go all the way to minute 52. If that is not the case, you have to watch it from the beginning.
"If it's not expository, it's not preaching" great quote. It matches well with "If you cannot parse, you cannot preach." My Greek Prof. taught me that one. :)
What the man is saying again, is after the words of Paul: 1CORINTHIANS 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
