Sir How do we differentiate then practically between the specimen material failed in the brittle manner in torsion and those failed in ductile manner in at 45 degree angle in uniaxial tension?

I think the answer to your question can be found in Dowling's book (Mechanical Behavior of Materials, 2013), in section 7.7.2.
