Yes Buddy, I am planning to start the whole series for Exp-E and Exp-C , I am still collecting the things which I needed for the Lab. DX80 is costly and I don't have that one right now. I am checking the other ways so that I can show everyone atleast the configuration on WebEx or on TMS
Go to Directory number under Bulk administration tool then select query then select the desired partition then click find to find available directory number assigned in that partition. Take note of those available DNs within the selected partition, as you will need this information to populate the "Directory Number" field in the BAT tool.
I'm struggling with finding reliable information on how to use the bat tool to move analog phones or ports from a VG350 to a VG450. I really have no desire to and jam all the new ports as I am dealing with four of the appliances. Any thoughts on that?
Here's a general outline of the steps involved in using the BAT (Bulk Administration Tool) to move analog phones from a VG350 to a VG450: Log in to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) administration portal. Navigate to the Bulk Administration > Phones > Export/Import menu. Select "Export" to generate a CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file that contains the current configuration of the analog phones. Open the exported CSV file using a spreadsheet application like Microsoft Excel. Locate the relevant columns related to the analog phones, such as Device Name, DN (Directory Number), Line Text Label, and any other settings you need to modify. Update the necessary fields in the CSV file to reflect the new configuration for the VG450. This may include changing the Device Name, IP address, port settings, and any other required parameters. Save the modified CSV file with a new name to avoid overwriting the original file. In the CUCM administration portal, go back to Bulk Administration > Phones > Export/Import. Select "Import" and choose the modified CSV file. Review the import settings and make any necessary adjustments. Pay attention to options like "Override the existing configuration" or "Update existing phones" to ensure the desired behavior. Initiate the import process. The BAT tool will read the CSV file and apply the changes to the target device (VG450) based on the modified configuration. Monitor the import progress and check for any error or warning messages. Once the import is complete, verify the configuration on the VG450 to ensure that the analog phones have been properly migrated.
Try these steps : Set up the VG450: Ensure that the VG450 is properly installed, configured, and connected to the network. Configure the VG450: Access the CUCM administration portal and navigate to the appropriate section for configuring gateways (e.g., Device > Gateway). Add the VG450: Add the VG450 as a new gateway device in CUCM, providing the necessary details such as device name, IP address, and other settings. Configure analog ports: Within the gateway configuration for the VG450, locate the section for analog ports or FXS ports. Depending on the CUCM version, this may be found in the gateway configuration or under a separate section for ports. Map analog ports: Associate the analog ports from the VG350 to the corresponding ports on the VG450. This typically involves specifying the port number or slot/port combination for each analog phone or port. Save and apply the configuration: Save the changes made to the VG450 configuration and apply them to the device. Verify connectivity: Ensure that the VG450 is operational and that analog phones connected to the analog ports on the VG450 can successfully register and make/receive calls.
@@TechnicalVenture well I was hoping for a cold turkey one for one replacement with keeping the IP address and device name. I figure the replacement is fairly easy as far as configurations go with minor changes in the configs but was hoping for an easy way to export the 350 endpoints to the 450 in an easy way but it's not looking like that option exists. I'll keep this option in mind once we get the 450s ready to be "racked & stacked". Thank you so very much for your advice and and input!
We have added the devices now via Bat, which is fine. But how do we get these registered. ? What is the point of adding dummy Mac addresses, what are we going to do with these devices
@@TechnicalVenture thanks for the reply. I think you are talking about self provisioning. In order to call on the CTI RP number and enter the pin, your phone already needs to be registered to make the call. What i want to understand is how adding a 100 dummy devices thorough BAT can help us registering 100 real devices in Bulk?
