Correction: @43:55 Georg Ernst Stahl was a German chemist. I don't know why I thought he might have been English. Nonetheless, scientific publications at the time were in Latin.
I appreciate discussion of the molecular orbitals. So, keep that chemistry coming. We like all the specifics we can get. This is review for me, but I can use review. All the charts and details specific to these chemicals is not review. It's of great interest.
Hi, on the battery cyclic Voltammetry slide, you mentioned if we cut the wire, the potential of the active material will go back to its original equilibrium.
However, the original equilibrium cannot be reached w/o the wire that conducting electrons back and forward (the e- cannot travel through electrolyte). Hence, I think it will be more reasonable to say "removing the voltage source will let active material goes back to its original potential".
Voltage would relax to its new equilibrium potential, depending on the state of oxidation. It would not be the original equilibrium at the start. Voltage source and current source are the same.
