The statue of Pacifica was one of the most memorable landmarks that visitors saw at the Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island, in San Francisco Bay. It later became the inspiration for the name of a new town on the San Mateo Coast in 1957 - the city of Pacifica, California. For many years the head of the statue was the official logo of the city, and a copy of the statue has a prominent place in the city’s history museum. Learn about Pacifica’s place in the history of the Bay Area and its affectionate connection to Treasure Island.
