LED Light Mod for L-TEK EX PRO 2 Dance Mats 

Thanks for this! I was able to follow along and it works and looks great. I had some wire wrapping wire (30 gauge?) lying around and it was indeed easy to lay it in the channels with some tape on top, no hot glue (and so no glue gun) needed. I'm terrible with soldering, so i made a bunch of the connections using the double-sided conducive tape (from your penny mod video!) and electrical tape on top. Sounds ridiculous but worked well... Still had to solder onto the controller though. I spent ten minutes worried because the light didn't shine through my black panels, before realizing the black plastic film on the back could be pulled off and wasn't actually the graphic 😂 Between these lights & the copper shim sensitivity mod, this is starting to feel a lot more like the arcade. Those light strips -- and most light strips -- have a fun little feature. There are little black lines with connector pads on them. You can cut on those lines, and either solder the connectors together or buy little connectors. They're dead cheap. This will allow you to have the strips laying flat very easily. Denser lights tend to have them more frequently along the length, I've noticed.

The reason why it's dimming, is due to the power draw, im assuming your not using a dedicated power supply and only using the 5v from the USB port. Feed the pads with a dedicated 5v power source and the dimming should be fixed. Thanks for the video.

ive purchased my pad back in 2020 from l-tek i think they are using a newer version of controller board now as shown on the video. ive already tried tampering with the led mods and such i just can't find the right point. great mod btw. sure feels great when you step on it and it lights up.

Fair warning for anyone looking to do this on a new pad, I just got my L-Tek a few days ago and all connections on the main board are hot glued, so you’ll need to remove them. Also if you’re doing a custom design make something with lighter-colored panels! I didn’t think about this for my pad, so the lights are hardly visible if I did the mod.

Was just wondering, are the pads transparent even if they are custom designs? Or did you have to provide the design with transparency? I'm about to order mine and I've made a design but dont know if the lights will just work even though my design doesnt have transparency.

Hello. Did you have any problem with the pads since the mod? I'm concerned about contact wear and erosion of the sensors by using them to switch directly the led strips.

Quick question, about a year ago we ordered a dance pad and mistakenly purchased a Just Dance pad instead of a DDR pad. Is it possible to move the insides around to make it work correctly? I was just wondering if the frame is all the same and they place the buttons in the different positions. I'm pretty hand, just dont want to spend the money on shipping to get the right one. Thanks for any info.
