so this video is 2 years old now, i'll need to do a new video soon from comments things to improve: show measurement as lux instead of lumen use a specific length (1m) so people can calculate watt/m etc include links to where products were bought measure heat show power supply include link include link sheet with data include clip of plants growing under strip
@@ohfrickitspeppers When comparing these to for instance, the bridgelux eb series (bxeb 280mm), the bridgelux produces 1200lm at 7 watts (350ma). Is the 3014 really a stronger and more efficient light or am I missing something in this comparison?
I’m into tropical houseplants and there is a huge myth that regular leds are not effective. If peppers can grow using regular leds, I think houseplants can as well. I’ve grown my houseplants using regular led bulbs and they are fine. I will be buying strip lights so this video helps a lot. Thank you.
Another good production. As I wrote in a previous comment regarding one of your videos, you keep it simple. Although you added the watt & lux meters, it didn't complicate anything. The extra info. you provided by using the equipment was very helpful. In particular, the lux meter. As I said in my previous comment, I've been an electronic tech for 40 plus years & I'm wanting to change out lighting fixtures in my shop using LED strips. You tested other strips this time, and I thank you for that. Now I need to decide what I'm going to go with. The nice thing about these strips is they can be cut to pretty much any length so a person could make any size or shape of fixture you may need. Thanks again for this informative video, and take care.
Very nice test, i was always using 5050, looks like 3014 will be my new choice. More efficient but just to let everyone know I never had a failure of 5050 led strip so reliability is very good, hope 3014 will continue the trend. Thanks for video
friend, maybe you can consider 2835,it have one led is 26-28lm,so,have more efficient, details, please check the links: alvinbloggeraddress.blogspot.com/2018/07/high-luminous-efficiency-natural-and.html
That 3014 is .5 amp at 12v? And provides 1400 lumen? my gas camp lantern that I think is pretty good is 500 lumen. I don't understand driver's, protection. Do you need a driver for a strip that has the resistors in the line?
Thanks so much for this. i'm rather illiterate about these, but like their brightness for the dome lights, etc. in my car. I hope you'll do another one of these, as there continues to be more and more on the market. maybe include cree models in some way, as they often claim to be the brightest in the world. Thanks again. Greatly appreciated.
I was trying to decide between the 3014 with 204 led per meter and the 2835 with 240 led per meter. I tested a 1 foot long 2835 led strip and a 30 watts LED driver. I used the same android app that you used last year. I know the app is not as accurate as the Zondaj Lx 1010B. The lux reading I got at 12 inches of distance was 1854 lux versus the 1425 of the 3014 from your test. The watts reading was 10.2 vs the 5.2 of the 3014. The led strip got very hot. The price of the 2835 is twice as expensive as the 3014. Based on the results of the tests, I would pick the 3014 because it consumes less watts and the lux difference is not that much. For future tests please include the 2835 with 240 led per meter. I would like to see if my test was accurate. Thank you for sharing.
Engi Coding that's what I thought would happen. Those 2835 240/m are meant to be used with aluminum fixture increasing their cost even more. There are simply too many led and not enough space to get rid of the heat.
yes,if the led strip work with aluminum profile, than, will reduce the hot,and have more life span. also, for 2835 240led/m,it can make low watta,we can custom the watta and length for our customer. Like,we custom 6w/m 2835 60led/m 10mm pcb,and 10 meters long.
Thanks for the test, to clarify you are measuring lux and not lumens and so your table at the end of the video is misleading. At over 200 lumens per watt these Chinese LEDs would be the most efficient in the universe! Big difference between lumens and lux.
Great test ,for the future tests could you please do a temperature reading that would be greatly appreciated because using heatsink is not always possible
pleas i need help i bought led strip lights 5050 5meter x20 which is 100 meters how do concert it withe 5rgb amplifier and 5 power supply plus 2 led controller i want to setup them in my fence
Sir if i connect a 3528 led strip ir controller to a 2835 led strip ....will it damage the the 2835 leds.... Because they come with same voltage but different current draw Please reply .....??
These aren't the type for growing, those are much brighter often HID, HPS, or MH depending on the spectrum for the type of plant. There are led strips that are infrared-ish and ultraviolet-ish that can help as long as they are very close to the plants, like within 6 inches.
I wanted to know the brightness to pick from before realizing that I actually had an extremely limited space for a row of 3 strips. Area only being 15mm total. Found out the 5050/5630 smd total width is between 8-10mm, while the 2835 smd is 6-8mm. Varies from vender to vender. Only way 3 strips will fit is if I ordered the 2835 and overlap them a mm or 2 on each. The only way to go without dropping to a smaller smd, which will further reduce brightness.
thks brother.... i hv trouble with 3014...its so hot if its work at 12v 1,5A..(heatsink installed) there are alot of resistors n led its self...i thinks thats d trouble.. so...which one coldest led from all of them?thkz🙏😅
i bought them from different suppliers. I was just showing that power can vary even when using the same model SMD LED. if it is labeled better i think it is better quality. but there is no real way to know without having industry experience / talking to the vendor.
Juanitos Peppers hello, how about CRI? I saw on eBay 5630 led strips with CRI 80+, 95+. But the price of it pretty bigger than usual 5630. Is it just a marketing lie with CRI or the price actually justified? I would to figure out what the difference and how to choose the good strip for less budget. I want to use these strips for camera lights as softbox.
Hey man, could you please recommend me the brightest best possible RGB led strips I can buy from aliexpress. And what i would need for a good ir/rf or wifi setup. (Power brick/ other cables etc) I want to put LEDs all over my room and behind my TV but I can't pick what to buy. I'm incredibly confused.
I've had good luck with 5630 or 5730 for aquarium lighting. For best results, stick it onto aluminum flat bar stock (1/8" thick and 2 to 3" wide. Can be cut to length to fit your aquarium). An excellent choice is the high CRI LED strip that's marketed toward DIY photography lighting. Very, very bright and plants/fish look fantastic under it. You'll want something in the daylight spectrum (5000 to 7000 kelvin).
The best lighting strips mostly use 3M 468MP Adhesive Transfer Tape. You can get it at www.amazon.com/3M-Adhesive-Transfer-468MP-Multiple/dp/B00P7K7T84 You probably want to get 1/2 inch wide to fit the lighting strip, in whatever length you need.
@@ohfrickitspeppers Thank you for your advice. What do you think of this product which must be excellent quality: fr.aliexpress.com/item/5M-1200LEDS-24V-3014-SMD-LED-Strip-10-12LM-240LED-M-Gold-Line-LED-Ribbon-LED/32811570671.html?spm= a2g0w.search0604.8.4.345833f6q98xAI They say that the product has been optimized and that it heats much less but it is still 24W / m .... Otherwise what do you recommend? The 3014 with 204led / m seems to be the right compromise but I'm afraid the quality is not as good as this product?
damn. wish I had seen this video earlier. been wasting my time doing a whole house and workshop replacement. I went from the cheap "2000" lumen plug and play, to 5050, then to the 2835 which for near same wattage pull when doubled up (16ft ea) would pull about the same as 5050 16ft and run way cooler. Now I see that maybe 5630 or 3014 could be better. Thanks for the video!!
Great demonstration! Can anyone recommend a popular online supplier for led strip lighting? I'm in need of a 40' run with a single 11' bridge gap. Unfortunately the inexpensive 16'4 won't work for me. Thanks!!
I would like to use the 3014s for vegetable seedling starts. The only ones I can find on eBay are 600 LEDs per 5m. Where do you get yours and could you tell me what power supply I would need per 5m? Thanks
they are available direct from china on aliexpress.com, shipping is 3 weeks. like this: www.aliexpress.com/item/5M-Ultra-Bright-SMD-3014-LED-Strip-DC-12V-1020-LEDs-Flexible-Waterproof-Led-Strip-High/32781664404.html per 5m you should use 12V, 5 or 10A power supply.
@@ohfrickitspeppers however Lux is actually more important IF you want to light an area, usually the point of these high output LED. I had LED bar rated at 2500 lumen but only at about 6 in. away. great video.
My lights are on the way. I was wondering if you have used them as grow lights and if so how are they performing? Update........... 5/14/18 The lights never came and that website aliexpress is horrible to try to get a refund from! At least I can buy them on eBay. And eBay has never let me down!
ive lost less on ailexpress than ebay. £50 on ebay and £10 on aliexpress. yea its more work, and communication can be difficult. pictures and checking all drop down menu options help. in my experience.
I have a question ..... I bought a new apartment, so I want to install all over with good led Stripes (RGB ones), but I don’t now which one I should pick here ? They are so many models I don’t now which is the best or is recommended. I like install the LEDs under the kitchen cabinets, on the ceiling as cool lighting, behind the tv so I get a really good effects ... and i want to control it over WiFi and use Alexa or Google Home with the Stripes. The Philips Hue lightstripes are my favorite at the moment but they are very expensive, then I need i guess about 30-50m of the LEDs , so I want to ask which one u can recommend here with a really good power supply, so I can go max brightness 👍
as long as you get a 12v dc power supply it is ok. How many amps you need depends on how long of strip you have. Generally 5 Amp for 1 normal strip. like this: www.amazon.com/LPV-60-12-Supply-100-264VIn-Sealed-Driver/dp/B00DED2YLI?th=1 or this: www.ebay.com/itm/12VDC-2A-3A-5A-6A-10A-Power-Adapter-Supply-Fr-5050-3528-5630-SMD-LED-Strip-Light/401030373195
just accoring to the led strip power,if led strip is 12v,so,the power need to be 12v. if 5 meters is 60W,the power must be above 60W,the better suggest is 60/0.8=75w. are you interested in led strip? any question you can send email to me.
These are the references: Cool white 5050 SMD 60 LEDS (14.4w p/m) = 1080 lumens per metre Cool white 2835 SMD 60 LEDS (12w p/m) = 1300 lumens per metre Cool white 2835 SMD 120 LEDS (24w p/m) = 2600 lumens per metre Why your results put 5050 above 2835 lumen-wise?
Soorry, but I believe these results are not reliable. Multiple measurements from different directions lying on the sphere should be combined, not just one maximum. Diodes have different directional characteristics.
Hi Sasa Djuric, Welcome to Our Website: www.winlites.com.tw/led-lighting.html If you are interested in these item or any enquiry, please feel free to let us know. We will attend 2018 autumn HKTDC-Hong-Kong-International-Lighting-Fair, and will be pleased to have you visit us.
You have a LUX-Meter. You did not measure lumens but lux. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lumen_(unit) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lux But this is not important for the result in the present case.
Thank you for sharing this test with us. I would like to purchase the 5630 (Good quality) for my investment. However i'm a bit confused right now because a similar test on 5630 was done here ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UmAmSWY19wY.html) and it sounds like the light is dim, even if the led profile looks very similar. Could you please post some links from Aliexpress where i can be sure the outcome will be similar with yours? thx
yüksek teknoloji bitki tankım için armatür yapmam lazım, 5630 kodlu 6500 kelvin veya 5730 kodlu 10000 kelvin smd led kullanmam lazım soguk beyaz nereden bulabilirim ve ne kadara patlar görseldekinden yapmam lazım prntscr.com/qqi09b
Well when you do update it can you just publish the results and not show us the tedious measuring process? I stopped watching after 2 mins it was SO boring!
