I generally hate reggae music..but...this is very good and fun song , you chose a very nice led Zeppelin song never heard before 🌊🏝 You are so right when you say this is further demonstration Led Zeppelin took fun , inspiration and mood from so many random things turning it in playfull songs, they liked make experiment doing free what they liked ...and even a simple reggae song like this become good , fun and relaxing to listen enjoying the drums and playfull Plant's voice Very good choice and nice lesson, beautiful caribbean teacher 🏝

A simple but fun song. You could say that Plant provides some of the fills with his vocals. I think teacher would make a good headbanger. Maybe a thrash metal band to react to in the future 😆

"D'yer Mak'er" got a lot of FM rock radio airplay in California throughout the seventies. Although Led Zeppelin may have recorded this song on a lark, outside of Jamaica reggae music was still a brand new sound in 1973, introduced to the broader Anglophone world through the 1972 Jamaican crime film The Harder They Come starring Jimmy Cliff. Beyond "D'yer Mak'er", splashes of reggae could be heard in a number of pop hits from back then: Paul Simon "Mother and Child Reunion" (1972); Johnny Nash "I Can See Clearly Now" (1972); Eric Clapton "I Shot The Sheriff" (1974); Blondie "The Tide Is High" (1980); ... But it was The Clash who pushed the blending of reggae and rock into the future with a series of classic recordings: "Police & Thieves" (1977), "(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais" (1978), "Revolution Rock" (1979), "Pressure Drop" (1980), "Armagideon Time", "Bankrobber" (1980) ... Ach! I forgot The Police and their reggae infused vibes -- "Can't Stand Losing You" (1978), "Message in a Bottle" (1979), "Bring on the Night" (1979), "Walking on the Moon" (1979), "The Bed's Too Big Without You" (1979), and "Driven to Tears" (1980) along with so many others.

It took decades b4 I figured out the way the song title was pronounced & what it was based on. Their 1st bio just mentioned it was based on an old joke not worth repeating. Well, as a noob I wish the author had repeated it. P.S. Love your nail color combo.

It's based on the old English joke which relies on a play on words between Jamaica and D'yer mak'er (did you make her) as they sound the same when said by a cockney Englishman. Also this is reggae music which originates in Jamaica. The lyrics follow the idea of the joke as it's a guy lamenting the idea of his woman leaving (for Jamaica?) and trying to persuade her not to go. (He 'did not make her' go)

Its the oh oh oh oh song. Not a great tune except for the drumming of John Bonham. This may sound better if I was in Jamaica smoking a fat splitting of marijuana and eating jerk chicken but I doubt it. Definitely a departure from the land of ice and snow where the cold winds blow and hot springs glow. It's cool if Zeppelin wanted to jam and stretch out and add a little reggae sound into the blender. Eric Clapton had his little reggae moment in the 70's with I shot the sheriff.Maybe YOU and "roomate" could go to Jamaica instead of Australia. NOT! Unless Jamaican or Haitian not a destination that sounds to enticing to me. Though my dad did fly a Sandpiper from Tampa to Jamaica with a 22 year old girl back then guess she twisted his manhoodand that was his motivation. Anyway a departure from their hard rock balls out regular jams they made but they probably needed a break and stretch their musical repertoire a little and fill up record space also.As usual YOU are so cute dancing and moving hand movements to the rhythm. A cool post I guess since YOU show so much enthusiasm for Summer sun. Break out bikini and watch guys trip on their tongue.💜😋🐬✌
