Sadly he overdid it too soon, possibly with some bad technique thrown in. Consequently, he damaged his vocal cords. he had to have surgery later, & effectively lost some of his upper register.
Robert Plant at 20 years old…..before he got his full-on rock god persona …….but with the most powerful voice in rock. Can you even IMAGINE how this hit back in 1969 when we got the album? It was UNREAL …….scary unreal.
That was an incredible performance and an equally incredible reaction!! You might have to extend the 1970s to two weeks as Led Zeppelin had a ton of hits in that decade too!🔥🔥🔥
I would love to see LZ watching all the reactors (new generation) enjoying their music, especially you ❣️❣️ I can't imagine them not seeing this and enjoying it all as much as we do ...
Alas, I think that epic performance has been "permanently" scrubbed by youtube. At least for now, lol. He can always get the dvd of Song remains the same, something every Zep fan should have!
I absolutely love these really early live Zep videos. They were always improvisational in their live performances, but in these early days the improv borders on experimental. They are still getting to know each other and are still playing with their sound. It is straight-up raw talent at its best. They are just oozing unrefined musical genius all over the stage and onto the front row! Like others have mentioned, you should check out the MSG version (28 mins) during 70s week to see where this song ends up after five years of refinement. Mind-blowing!
This grew into the most amazing musical performance of all time, dazed and confused live MSG 1973. Not available on you tube anymore. But it is a 29 minute version of this.
I never thought I would see you go quite with a blank stare. I guess it took Led Zepplin to do it. I saw them live 49 years ago and I can die a happy man.
Incredible reaction my UK brother. 🎸 Thank you for continuing to react to the music I grew up listening too and the world's greatest band and musicians ever assembled. There's So much more Zeppelin I can't wait too see your reactions too. 🫡🙏🏽💪🏽
Mad fuckery galore! Loved the exclamations of stunned "Oh eff off already! Even the bass player's like "Fuck you my four strings!!" And yes, Jimmy must take a bow for bringing the bow. To the show. Now TECHNICALLY, Hector, you COULD see them again in this "era" and still be in the 70's next week for a performance from Zep's Royal Albert Hall 1970 gig. Much to choose from. One of the best: "I can't quit you baby." Total fire all around. Stoopid ads come on for 20 seconds, but worth it!
Lucky you! I saw a few shows at Merriweather Post Pavillion, but JUST missed Zep in '77 at the Capitol center, dammit! I was just a casual 8th grade fan then, but by the time, three years later when I was a certified Zep freak, the '80 tour was cancelled. I don't need to tell you why.
I am so very envious of **Everyone** that got the utter pleasure of seeing them live...if i had seen them live pfft they would never be able to get rid of me ha best band ever **ZeppelinInfinity&Beyond** & well **JimmyPage** is **MyCosmicSpiritSoulmateWizardBabeInfinity&Beyond**✨🎸✨
You seem a little miffed when this song ended because maybe you thought it should be longer .. Well you should check out the live video from 1973 .. I clocks in at just under half an hour .. Guaranteed to put you in a fuckin straightjacket
And when you get to the 70s you have to see Dazed and Confused live at Madison Square Gardens 1973. It's really long, and you will lose your mind, I know it. This 68 version is great, but the 73 version is lightyears beyond. Make sure you watch the full version.
"That dude" is the great Jimmy Page. No worries about the 70s. Most of this band's music was produced during that decade. They were together from 1968 until the unexpected death of the drummer, John Bonham, in 1980. Greatest rock band in history. Edit: This performance was done just a couple of months after Led Zeppelin formed as a band, so it's a very early live version. They refined it over the years performing the song over 400 times, never the same way twice, and sometimes for up to 30 minutes. It would be cool to compare this very early performance to later ones.
I was born in ‘69 and the moon landing, pffft whatever… Dazed and Confused and the greatness that is Led Zeppelin exploded into the world and the world was forever better for it!
These are pretty great songs, and spectacular live performances, but you’re going to have a hell of a time fitting the 70’s into one week - mainly because a lot of these acts you love in the 60’s hit their stride in the 70’s. But, hey, good luck! I’ll be here for it!
LZ live...been tellin ya. 😁. It gives you a chance to really experience the true talent of this band. They never performed Dazed and Confused the same way twice live. John Paul and Bohnam were so good they would just improvise as Page would just do his thing. You really should watch the Madison Square Garden version of this live from the Song Remains the Same Album. It's 20 some odd minutes of goose bumps plus the bow too. It was done in the 70's 😉 Love your reactions! 😁💜💜💜💜💜
Yes! Led Zeppelin!! Woo Hoo. They had only been together a couple of weeks if this is 1968. Robert Plant’s voice at 20 years old was f’ing amazing. I like it better than later on. Bonham - 20. John Paul Jones - 22. Jimmy Page - 24. So great right from the beginning and so young. It’s raw, soulful, experimental, just fabulous.
I've been waiting for you to see this. The bow was crazy.❤ I have a 70's song for you. It's called "Take a Pebble" or "Knife Edge" by Emerson Lake and Palmer. I also have some 70's "Heart" songs..."Sing Child" and "Cook with Fire" and "White Lightning and Wine" They have so many but these are some of the best.❤
❤fuck yeah. I know I have mentioned it on one of the other Zeppelin reactions but Zeppelin live is on another level and if you listen to the studio version after it's like a completely different song. Just incredible man. Much love to you man🤘🤣❤️
YAY YES!!! OHMYGAWD!!! so **OverJoyed** that ya did this version WoW BEST Reaction so far man HA WoW NOW ya know (well one of the reasons) that **MyJimmyPageBabe** IS **MyJimmyPageMysticalMagicalWizardBabeInfinity&Beyond** & I for one am so very **GiddyPleased** that ya get the **RawSexualPower** they give off whew man i need to **Breathe** heh **Luvit** Love Love YAY Love **YOUR** Reactions not only are they out of this fkn world but **YOU** are right up there with em **RockOn** **ManyPixieHugz&Luvz&BlissfilledTwirls**✨🎸✨
Of course there had to be some Led Zep didn't there. BUT, if there is no corresponding Flioyd then I will cry... Just warning you. HAHAHAHAHA..... Being an old git and having seen this clip just a few times I howled with laughter at your face when he got the bow out..... Man you have the best reaction channel BAR NONE.......!!! As for the Seventies... Oh you are getting PROGGED out of your mind baby. Keep on Rocking and what a fabulous journey...!!!!
Loving the reactions... keep it up... You would love Eminence Front by The Who! Keith Moon is the drummer...some say he is the #1 drummer of all time... some also say that "Animal" from the Muppet Show was based on him...either way he (and the rest) are fuking awesome. Cheers!
I love this version. But the way the studio version is the pitch. The high pitch. That's what I need. I'm just really used to that high pitch that hits your soul
In 1968, "Dazed and Confused" was primarily performed live by Led Zeppelin and was not officially released on any album. The song would later appear on their 1969 self-titled debut album, which was released in January 1969 in the United States and March 1969 in the United Kingdom. Therefore, it was not available for purchase in stores in 1968 but was instead experienced primarily through their live performances.
A film of a Led Zeppelin performance did not appear on television until later years. In 1968, Led Zeppelin was still a relatively new band and had not yet gained widespread television exposure. Their breakthrough performances on television occurred later, in the early 1970s, with appearances on shows like "The Old Grey Whistle Test" in the UK and "The Midnight Special" in the US. These appearances typically aired during late-night programming slots, catering to a more mature audience. It's unlikely that Led Zeppelin performances would have been shown on daytime television in 1968 due to their relatively edgy and unconventional style for the time.
Led Zep magic !! 💥🔥💎☮️🇨🇦. Can’t beat Robert Plant’s vocals ! Aren’t you glad to discover 1960’s music & you’ve only touched the surface of how beautiful music was made way back …🥰💓
The Creation was a band that released their first album in 1967, and their guitarist Eddie Phillips was the first to use a bow on his electric guitar. Jimmy Page picked it up in 68 with The Yardbirds and then refined it with Zeppelin. ✌️
I assumed that this would be from the BBC Session, however somewhere 'live' in London 1969. It doesn't look like a normal concert film, so possibly a special film during a sound check. The 'normal' video is Royal Albert Hall in 1970.
There's a double DVD of concert performances, from Royal Albert Hall, Madison Square Gardens, Earls Court & Knebworth. Most of these have made their way onto RU-vid, so are the " normal " ones that we see. Remember, in the 'old days' there were no huge screens backing or flanking the stage, so no need for loads of cameramen to be crawling all over the stage. They were only there if 'they' wanted to make a video recording of the concert. 'Personal filming' gear was bulky & heavy, and certainly wouldn't be allowed past security at the gate. So different to today's iPhone generation. I first remember seeing 'big screens' at Knebworth, my local festival in the mid -late 70s, probably at the Stones gig.@@brainsqueezereactions
Like a lot of commenters recommend, you MUST see Dazed and Confused 1973 live version at MSG (Madison Square Garden). Your brain will be squeezed to the max it will explode.
