I still come back to this song...a classic LZ, reminds me of a great year, 1979, when life was oh so much easier. Now that I'm 61, I appreciate Zepplin even more so and just for a moment wish i could go back to those days.
Hell yeah. And the older I get, the more I realize, this is one of Zep's best songs. For me, it's top 10. And John Bonham was in the deepest part of his alcoholism at this point and Jimmy Page was on the scag.. Neither of those two could be relied upon day to day to turn up on time for studio work. Plant and JPJ did all the brute work for this song, and then Bonham comes in and adds inspired drums to complement JPJ's inspired keyboard works and Page hooks up the weird buzz to the guitar and turns in one of his best ever solos. The guys were such excellent musicians. They could have been a hit country and western band. They could have been a samba band. JPJ played piano in his church and the dude is a legendary bassist. I totally get why they disbanded after Bonham's death. It must've felt like you were gods to have these 4 artists together doing their thing and just walking and stomping over the Earth like T Rexes. The artistry of each is remarkable, but together they were just in a league of their own, and nobody could replace one of them.
You should check out The Dave Matthews Band busting it out last night in Alpine Valley. Someone has posted a full video of it. They did a great job in my opinion….✌️
It was the late 80’s, I was 15 yrs old, in love and dating with the 19 yrs old waitress at a pizza place with a juke box that had this song, with “Hot Dog” as the flip side. I always played this song there, so of course every time i hear it now, brings me right back to that booth seat, same feelings, same emotions. Thank you Led Zeppelin.
I was going to say same. My dad never rested without peace. His month. 1936-2004 He had so many albums. I chose some... Even the who. More to life my song today. February 2022. 🎶
To be a fool in the rain of a woman’s tears, trying to cease her sorrow, trying to ease her fears, but I fear tomorrow is here, and yesterday was a tomorrow’s near, inside her eyes are deceit, in my eyes there’s belief that’s clear, in her lies I listen, each moment each transition, her vision is blurred, she makes music for profit, I made music for her, in each line of topic, the division is made like grenades for cures, my head ache can’t endure what the heart ache compounds into an elixir of hurt, emotions spiral, but that’s just the remedy, because she didn’t choose to be my friend, she chose to be my enemy, there’s no serenity, there’s plenty to bargain for, plenty of change that I never wanted like a fossil from her dinosaur, in the brush of an eyelid, there’s so much that’s private, but I want the public to see her for what they just ignore, I’m so sure, that I can say this, I’m not on her playlist, I’m like the rug she left to step on every time she enters the door, with nothing but sandals and sand pits, kicking at dust with hands mixed, shaking off mistrust, peeling at the last trip, trying to stay vigilant, seeing all the low life’s kicking at her pants split, while I spent years trying to advance this, but still getting left out like wet paint drawn on the canvas…
You love this song you have to hear the mexican rock band (Mana) Spanish version it's amazing just like led zeppelin's original version but with a special mexican mariachi ending that made the song so much better. Sometimes bands and singers sing other artists songs and they just ruin the song but this guys really made it sound pretty much alike but with a little taste of Mexico. 🇲🇽 Viva Mexico Cabrones!
I worked at a small butcher shop. Had a co worker who was family friend of owner who was given job as a favor. He was more concerned with his rock band lmao. But he played songs he was trying to learn numerous times 50-100 easy. Well he played this song for like 5 days straight. Guess he gave up.... I think he could never land "im feeling blue" notes lmao
This isn't in stereo and if your ears can decipher this song it's actually in MONO because in this it's in center instead of it being stereo much like HRX pro sound.

This is the only Led Zeppelin song that I could call "Charming". Nobody has mentioned the Peter Allen interlude that begins about 2:30, the sudden pounding piano chords, that policeman's whistle, the latin drumming, -- it's straight out of "I Go To Rio". .
Waiting at our meeting place Center, Ocean Drive We had big plans that Summer but you had not arrived Three years we were together Since I was just a girl And still the girl that I was then thought you'd be my world 🌎 The stormy skies above the sea Poured down upon my face Just where I stood on Ocean Drive It wasn't the wrong place When Robbie said he'd seen you The tears fell from my eyes when suddenly I knew... The purple dress I wore for you 💜 Was soaked down to the skin The thunder grew much louder I ran against the winds Your car was in the parking lot of Ocean Drive Hotel A revved up Monte Carlo ( I knew it very well) A crying soaking mess I was looking for that floor The looks on all the faces as I came through the door😳 The curtains to the ocean view were shut as they could be Billy got some clean dry clothes and handed them to me Naked in the bathroom and shaken to my core The young love that I had for you, just a 💜 puddle on the floor The bathroom had a window too 🪟 And through it I could see 😱 a sunburned soaking coward crouched out on the balcony The man behind the curtains was really just a boy Just like that blue car down below I had become a toy Billy handed me a 🍺 I told him I'd take two🍻 both for me and none for you My chair pushed up against the door that window to the sea I shut the lock forever on the man I could not see. (The real fool in the rain. Ocean Drive c. 1981) impromptu P.S. It began to hail
Perhaps one of the greatest moments in the history of rock. Jimmys solo here paints the pain and anguish one feels at the foolish loss of time and love
My dreams played this song last nite. I and my friend had to finish paintings of other artists that could not meet the Monday reception of the art. It was late Friday and we had 21 piece to sure up. Paintings all over the floor to finish and then this song plays. ❤the song is about moving on . 🎉
I'm a black man that loves my R&B and jazz and a little bit of rapp, but one night I was riding around with my fellow co-worker that was white, he tells me, please just listen to the drums on this song, the very first time I heard the drums on this song I was hooked, that in 1995, here it is 2022 that drum beat from jon Bonham is truly unbelievable!! I still listen to this song over and over, his energy is off the chain, I see why they said they wouldn't return as a group without him, he is totally unreplaceable!
Brilliance is led zeppelin they saved the worlds thank you led zeppelin 2 a magical song that inspired myself to appreciate life thank you led zeppelin 😂❤🎉
When your name was at the top of the list at the record store for this album to come in. Laid on the seat of the new F100 shortbox. Got to my friends house and everybody was waiting. Passed around so everyone could examine the album jacket. 30 people gathered for the sole purpose of listening to this one album. Young people today don't know the times they missed and what's being stolen from them. This one song condensed the 70's and maybe you can get a tiny glimpse of what once was and will never be again.
