Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

So true. I was a teenager in the 70's and I feel luck to have experienced Led Zeppelin in my formative years. I truly believe that Rock and Roll bands will never be this awesomely inspiring ever again. The entire music world is more about business and less about talent. Sad but true.

Ray DeSantis He sounds pretty decent on Kashmir, but most songs he can no longer sing in the original key and are a tuned down (some songs it works for but others lose their mojo). Heck, by 1973 he could no longer hit the high notes on most nights for Stairway, Rock and Roll, Black Dog, Immigrant Song, Over The Hills etc. No warm ups, constant touring, smoking and drugs all killed his top range. I think the no warm ups was the worst, as it may be why he had nodes on his vocal chords. Smoking usually seems to be more gradual in it's damage.

Never be a sound like this band, never another scream like Plant, Page's riffs timeless, Paul's bass runs and keys, Bonham's percussion driving it. His son did him proud here.

Whatever power Mr Plant lost by 65 he made up for 1000 fold with unreal control and ability to channel the power he did have with the epitome of professional precision. Add in all of the extra lilt, accentuating, vibrato and eastern bends and you have a Grand Master at work. And oh, did I mention John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Jason - the son of the late great John Bonham were crushing it too? Wow…

Men are lucky as they age as entertainers they can wear dark glasses and silly hats. Women cannot get away with this so retired women performers have a hard time trying to stay in the music world. I am one of them. hate getting old, still listen to all the music of 60's 70's 80's then all music died.

@@pamelapickett4004 I'm sure there is some truth to that, women have some advantages over men in life and men have some advantages over women in life, but we can agree that music really did go to hell in a bucket after the 80's
