I just did a solo cross country road trip and Led Zeppelin was on the playlist for the day… as the sun came up this came.. I hadn’t heard it before.. immediately brought me to tears… I had to listen to it over and over again looking over at the empty passenger seat , thinking about my past 45 years… thinking about everyone whose heard this and had a special someone and this has had hit them just the same ….
You ain't tripping. Jimmy singing harmony on the chorus . One of the few he sings on. Beautiful . The rock album that set the standard for others to strive for. ✌
You have no idea how many people cut off the end of this song because they don't realize it comes back in. Yes, you did hear a 2nd voice - Jimmy harmonized with Robert on the "little drops of rain..." part. The rest of the group did not often harmonize/sing along with Robert but they do have a few songs where this happens. When Jimmy was still a session musician, he cut a single called She Just Satisfies where he sang and played all the instruments except the drums. This is the first song Robert wrote himself and it was for his (then) wife. The only thing is, he also had an affair with his sister in law and wrote about it in the song What Is And What Should Never Be and both songs are on the same album. A lot of people have used this as their wedding song ever since.
@@catherinethompson2525 can't think of the name of the song (it's acoustic) but Robert says : hey hey mama what is wrong with you, but thats alright, I know your sister too
" If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there would still be you and me." One of the most beautiful lines every written.
They had so much range... There's a certain Led Zeppelin sound but the songs were never formulaic. They rarely repeated themselves. So few artists were able to put out such a diverse sounding catalog.
If I had an opportunity to meet the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, and an option to give my opportunity to somebody else it would be you.. love your reactions on Led Zeppelin
Robert's most famous duet on a Zeppelin album was with Fairport Convention vocalist Sandy Denny (sadly, no longer with us) on the virtually medieval 'The Battle of Evermore' - as strident as this is soothing.
Followed immediately by the rocker Heartbreaker on the lp... Zepp strongly believed for a reason that folks should listen to the whole album, NOT just single tracks!
You’re on a roll Jayy!! Great stuff with the Zeppelin marathon. You should react to Misty Mountain Hop, D’Yer Mak’er, Song Remains The Same (Live), Custard Pie, Tangerine, Celebration Day..... sweetie you haven’t even touched the tip of the iceberg of the great Led Zeppelin catalog!!!!! There’s also Trampled Under Foot!!
Almost done with my dad's estate. I'd love to sing this to him. And my mom who passed away in 2011. I know it's not that kind of song, but, thanks to them...I am, and have a beautiful wife, kids , and grand kids. I can't stop crying right now. Thanks Jayy.
Jayyyyyyyy!!!!!! I know I'm not the only person who suggested you react to this song but I am definitely one of the people who did suggest it, so I am totally taking credit for this reaction!!! Now that you know my suggestions are for real I have a few more for you: Ramble On, Going to California, Battle of Evermore, and Since I've Been Loving You are all fire! I hope you continue to enjoy your Zeppathon as much as we are enjoying watching it!! Peace!!
I think Jimmy might harmonize with Robert on this. I remember in High School English class we had to bring in a love song and discuss it. I chose this one. Thank You.
You are so cool Jay!! Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite band! I started listening to them in 1976 I'm 58 years old. I STILL find their music relevant and relatable to this day!! Thanks for the vids.
This was he first Zeppelin song i learned on guitar I love this song . Try Stairway to Heaven live at MSG if you have not seen it yet .If you do check it out turn up the air conditioner Robert is on point we know how you get. More Zeppelin
Thank you Jayy for your wonderful reaction. I've been a Zep fan all of my life. All 58 years of it. When I first heard this song when I was a kid, I knew it would have significant meaning to my life and it did! Only just recently, did this song would come to fruition. I lost my love to covid last year. It totally devastated me. And after the sadness and devastation, this song came out to give new meaning to me. It is my message to her up in Heaven. " Thank You" for giving me the best love and years a man can have. Thank You Alice. You are always in my heart ❤️🙏
Hey beautiful Jayy 💖 It makes me so happy to see how you love & appreciate the great Led Zeppelin. Timeless music & a very long list. Loving your hair & that t-shirt 💓
*Led Zeppelin 1 is why I bought Zeppelin; 2__3__4__Houses of the Holy__Physical Graffiti__until I had all of their albums. Thank you Jayy for reacting to Thank You. I ♥♥♥ this song.*
Jimmy's abiding interest in multiple spheres of music pushed and pulled the band in many directions. One of the key influences was folk music. 'I am obsessed - not just interested - OBSESSED with folk music...' he once declared. It got lost, inevitably, as the demand for boogie and volume gripped their fans. However, the group did indulge the pastoral side of their nature with a sit-down section during concerts, where Bonzo was given a bit of time off while Jimmy and John Paul took out their acoustic guitars and mandolins, etc. It meant there was a breathing space before they once again took the building into the stratosphere.
I quite often blast this out to my neighbours, they love it, even the younger ones. Have you listened to Cream yet? Another great British band, one of many for you to experience.
" What Is And What Should Never Be" if you want to really trip out. Your handy dandy headphones will love it, I promise. Also " You Shook Me" for an amazing vocal/guitar duet near the end!! Stay safe Jayy, from an old Zephead in England.
This is me and my wife's song. reason is she fell ill with an aneurysm 5 years ago. She was very critical. I would play this for her in the hospital and also when I went home for the night. 5 years later we are as strong as ever. I cry when I hear this song as i did when I heard this again here
Jayy, you are so beautiful and cute. You're comments, smile, emotions... everything. I have this song on a playlist for my late wife who battled with mental health issues, and sadly, finally succumbed to the pain. This year would have been our 27th wedding anniversary. This song mean so much to me. When I am down and hating the world, this song makes me smile and cry at the same time. Bless you Jayy for video. It is so wonderful to see your reactions.
Another Fav, song written for his wife thanking her For everything ❤💖 Gives you the Chills!! Just beautiful melody and instrumental John Paul Jones is another brilliant musician
And the ending of this song is when i really think of my first girl friend back in my high school days i love this song i must have played it a million times and still play it up to now unbelievable what a song does take you to
Other people may have this at their wedding, but I’d like to have it played at my End of Life Memorial to thank everyone who was there for me in my journey 💝🙏🏼
John Bonham did a lot of the backing vocals, but I think that was actually mostly Jimmy Page... but at one point, it's all three of their voices, I think. One song you can really hear Jimmy's voice is Achilles Last Stand, because Robert had actually re-injured his broken leg while they were actually in the middle of recording the song... so Jimmy had to finish the last vocals. Just a little bit of trivia! LOL!
Jason bohnam had a band in the '80s called "bohnam". They have a great song called "wait for you". You would probably like it, as well as others by them
