Born in 68 started listening to my dad's zeppelin collection at 8 late at night with his headphones. Instant fan for life, funny Dad didn't really like them; too commercial.
I was 19 in 73. The world was exploding with the most beautiful music it was all out there before us. I thank God for the wonderful memories, and absent friends. Kathleen Paplow class of 72❤
I was born in 1972. I was brought up with all this wonderful music. I realize how lucky I was to experience it. I feel bad for kids today, they have to wade through a lot of garbage to get to anything good.
The stars aligned when these 4 met each other. There will never be another Zeppelin. This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I've tried over the years to get everyone I know to love Led Zeppelin, but they never dig deep enough to hear masterpieces like this. It's not all Whole Lotta Love and Stairway to Heaven. These guys were so diverse. There's something for everyone to love.
I'll have a "happy tear" appear when I hear this song. Being a '73 HS Grad, I look back over the years and realize I grew up in the best of times for the music, the cars, and the women. Kids today have not a clue what the 60's & 70's gave us.
The Rain Song - Lyrics: It is the springtime of my loving The second season I am to know You are the sunlight in my growing So little warmth I've felt before It isn't hard to feel me glowing I watched the fire that grew so low, oh It is the summer of my smiles Flee from me, keepers of the gloom Speak to me only with your eyes It is to you, I give this tune Ain't so hard to recognize, oh These things are clear to all from time to time, ooh Oh, oh Oh Talk, talk, talk, talk Hey, I felt the coldness of my winter I never thought it would ever go I cursed the gloom that set upon us, 'pon us, 'pon us But I know that I love you so Oh, but I know That I love you so These are the seasons of emotion And like the wind, they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion I see the torch We all must hold This is the mystery of the quotient, quotient Upon us all, upon us all, a little rain must fall Just a little rain, oh, yeah Oh, ooh, yeah-yeah-yeah
I wrote these lyrics from memory in English class in high school and turned them in for an assignment. Can't remember the grade I got but I didn't get busted out. Lol Always wondered what old lady Crider thought about those lyrics. Lol Ahh, to be young again.
I saw them in 1977 at The Largo Centre. They were there for 4 nights. I saw the 1st and 4th show. Imagine me a young black woman having the time of my life. I'm now 67 years old/young, I listen to Led Zeppelin daily, it motivates me to have a wonderful day. It's now 08/15/2024 at 8:57AM in Towson, Maryland 21286
I can't listen to Zeppelin without shedding tears. Im almost 68 years old and am a guitar player. I learned playing guitar from Jimmy page and Jeff Beck.
Im 72 and ive been blessed to have Zeppelin part of my life all these years..never tire of every song ever done..can't count how many times ive listened to them all. There is no other band that can come close ....
We throw the word "masterpiece" around too freely these days, but "The Rain Song" is absolutely a masterpiece. Brilliant from first note to last (which can be said for this entire album, actually).
yeah Houses of the Holy is my favorite album and where i feel they really peaked as a band. i love every Zeppelin albums (yes, even In Through the Out Door and Coda) but this one is definitely my favorite
@@redskies4530It's Hillarious that 99.9% of "Current Rockers" Emulate 70's EVERYTHING... Hey, just be yourself. That's what ALL Sucessful bands & people did.
As a old Progressive Rocker, I love the layers of music in this song. An orchestra can add so much to a song and stretching it to over 7 minutes, an absolute must. This is my favorite Zeppelin tune.
This song in particular, is one of those songs that so many non-Zeppelin fans (that don't know it) need to be exposed to. It's a song that can have life changing impacts. I don't know if it's my favorite, because that's impossible for me to pick. But it's tied for number 1 with several others.
" a little rain must fall, just a little rain...." One of the most beautiful and meaningful song ever written - me here, every time I hear a Zepp song. 😍
I know I'll be 88 years old one day, still sitting on my deck having coffee, crying for the absolute beauty and soul NOURISHING effect this song provides for me ❤❤❤❤
Here it is 2023 just like the title the song remains the same got to love it this one really reminds me of the good times back wow I'm now 67 still kicking and playing the rain song makes me feel good all over once again peace out my friends keep on playing these great songs
Well, I'm 62, sitting on my deck having,,,,,,,something ;-), crying for the absolute beauty of this song as well. It still makes my eyes well up, like it did the first time I heard it 45 years ago. Then it made my eyes well up again trying to figure out the tuning & chords on this song as a young guitarist. 3 channels on TV, no youtube, no internet, nothing! Seeing them live, and/or picking the needle up a thousand times on the record, trying to learn that ONE chord or lick. Simply amazing.. 🤟😎🤟
@user-qd3tw9bu1e Robert's voice and lyrics are just as beautiful, but sometimes it's nice to listen to Jimmy's guitar and production as a stand-alone instrumental; you can then truly appreciate his incredible musical talent. When Zep released the remastered albums some years ago, Jimmy included an instrumental version of Going To California. Absolute heaven.
My dad just passed away and he wants this played at his service....he grew up in the u.k started drumming at an early age, moved to Australia when he was 13, he followed zeppelin ever since they started, being the same age as plant and seeing them live in the UK(lucky man) this was his favourite song...r.i.p dad love you and I will always play this on the drums for you...
My best to you and yours. Both my folks have passed, but remember what I was listening to when receiving the word of their passing. I know this for sure, when I hear those cuts my Mom or Dad is right there with me, and smiling because they know they are never gone, just not as close as they would like just now. I can't take any credit for that thought, those are from my Mom. I lost a friend, more like a brother, years ago and was a real mess. Mom sat me down and said "he isn't gone if you remember him, he just isn't as close as you would like just now". When you hear this cut for the rest of your life you will know your Dad is still looking after you, just not as close as you would like just then. Thanks Mom, I was listening, even if it didn't seem like it at the time. Be well and safe peace to you and yours.
Take your 10 favorite Led Zeppelin songs & listen to them all back to back & You’ll find you’ve been to another place without leaving the room. Take that place with you today.
Can’t pick just 10 cuz I HAVE to listen to the whole library when it comes to Led Zepoelin…. But you Are correct when saying it takes you to another place w/o leaving the room-- and that’s without drugs!😂
You are SO right! And I do, always when listening to Led Zeppelin. Favorites like Little By Little, Big Log, Ramble On, Over the Hills and Far Away, take me to another place every time. It is AWESOME.
When my burdens are heavy, my mind is twisted, God has made a way for plp lie me to find comfort, find my spiritual road again to walk on , this song brings me to a place of a different time a era , one. That humbles my heart , a tear to cleanse my sorrow for the day of others, .get me back on track . Thank you father for these 4 wonderful creatures that to me see so clear the message they deliver ❤❤❤❤
The Rain song is quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever. A masterpiece in it's ability to convey the brillance of classical rock and roll at its highest level.
You are a lucky man. Greatest rock band of all time. Start from the beginning and work your way along. Gems all along the way. Houses of the Holy is my personal favourite album. This song is from it but there are tons of great songs. The Battle of Evermore. The pinnacle.
I dont have the words to express what this song did to me the 1st time i listened to it, all those years ago. Guess what. It still has the same effect. The magick is real. Let noone try to convince you otherwise. You'll experience it listening to this song, and very nearly EVERY OTHER song in these guys records. Fan for life. Thank you
Reminds me of camping in Paris aged 19, just got back from Jim Morrisons grave and played this and that spirituality that day stuck with me ever since. Love to fellow music lovers xxx
I can say in all honesty that this song (and album) saved my life. Listening over and over and over after being dumped by the love of my life at 16 yrs old I was utterly inconsolable. It was the end of July, about to start 11th. grade, this pulled me thru. Still means the world to me. So does she...
This song is like slow moving wave of majestic sounds with those beautiful chords and I love that they took their time to let it develop fully. They didn’t rush it. 7 minutes and 39 seconds of pure musical Bliss. LZ is simply the best and most talented band ever. Bravo! ❤🎵
Fun fact: George Harrison told John Bonham, "The problem with you guys is you never do ballads." The conversation eventually reached Jimmy Page, who vowed."I'll give him a ballad," and wrote the "Rain Song" This is my go-to song when the cold is upon me in the north or the winter days seem like they will never end. Although I own all the original albums, I have no turn table/sound setup. ❤
My favorite ballad by a rock band. I remember when I first heard it many many years ago, it literally brought tears to my eyes. That's when I found out you can feel completely nostalgic for something you've never heard or experienced before.
Rock is so much more when traditional music has an influence. Listen to all the violins. Awesome. These guys can perform and write. Not just loud kids in a garage
If you didn't know where this song came from, you never believe it came from one of the best Rock n Roll Bands on the Plant. The orchestra was brilliant.
1976, was ten years old and bought a promotional copy of Zeppelin 1 from a record store. The promo copy was the one people played in the store. Its all I could afford from my paper route money. Its was a beginning from there. Thanks for the endless lifetime of great memories. Like a soundtrack. I remember the day Bonham died. We were on a soccer pitch, it was raining.
*The Rain Song* ------------- It is the springtime of my loving The second season I am to know You are the sunlight in my growing So little warmth I felt before It isn't hard to feel me glowing I watched the fire nn-that grew so low, ooh, ooh, whoa-oh It is the summer of my smiles Flee from me, keepers of the gloom Speak to me only with your eyes It is to you I give this tune Ain't so hard to recognize, oh These things are clear to all from time to time Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, oh-ho, oh-ho Uh, talk, talk, talk, talk Hey, I felt the coldness of my winter I never thought it would ever go-whoa I cursed the gloom that set upon us, 'pon us, 'pon us but I know that I love you so-oh Oh-whoa, mm-but I know that I love you so-whoa These are the seasons of emotion and like the wind, a-they rise and fall This is the wonder of devotion I see the torch we all must hold This is the mystery of the quotient, quotient Uh, upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall Just a little rain, hoh, now Aw, woo-ooh, yeah, yeah, yeah
I think this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. From the haunting lyrics from Plant to Jimmy's guitar genius. It instantly puts me at ease when I'm just looking for that instant calm. There will never be music like this ever again and although sad, I feel privileged to have experienced it. The lyrics "Upon us all, a little rain must fall" don a wall in my home. It's nice to see I am only echoing previous comments. I wonder what else they could have created had their time together not been cut short. Best there ever was - hands down.
Honestly the most beautiful of all Zep songs. An amazing track beginning to end, hauntingly beautiful actually. However, it is Plant's final powerful vocals that win this for me, 'Upon us all, a little rain must fall'
Beautiful!!! Words cannot express all the beauty in this song! It just flows so smoothly and gently like two rivers flowing into one. Love love love!! ♥️♥️ On us all a little rain must fall. 🌧️🌧️☔️☔️
Sends chills down my spine as the memories of people places and events are wrapped up in the melody, lyrics and words transcending into a crescendo of an era I yearn for.
Never apologize for your tears. God sent emotions are missing from so many lives today. Be proud that you are able to express yourself, unlike those who mare trapped in a vacuum and can't. Bless you for being honest!!
During the songs climax you can hear every instrument from the bash on the base drum to the piano and the guitar, truly one of the greatest songs ever written and played. The God's of rock.
