This is actually my favorite version of this song. Jimmy’s acoustic playing on this is just sublime…perfection. Robert’s nod of respect at the end says it all.
I always thought "The Rain Song" was one of Led Zep's most underrated songs. Page's guitar work on this song is probably some of his most beautiful. It proves they can do more than just rock.
Jimmy is more than a genius Guitarist, he is an brilliant arranger. He arranged this ensemble piece. 3 brilliant musicians and a master lyricists and singer. What a band... ❤❤❤❤
The Rain Song is definitely one of those soothing Zeppelin songs. "In The Light" similarly also takes you on an emotional journey. Jamel, you would thoroughly enjoy it.
@@devhelen5895 Unledded. Their shot at the unplugged style popular around then. I saw the tour hit Glasgow in 1995 and by then it was getting more like the full electric again.
@Malinda Reeves For me it was “The Wall”. The Zeppelin Madison Square Garden concert was performed the year I was born. When I watched the DVD., (which was the first dvd I ever bought), I envied everyone at that concert. Truly great movie!
Yes you can you can just go to the original creators of their music Led Zeppelin is one of the best cover bands but unfortunately they don't own any of their songs all plagiarized. No credits, no love and no shout outs.
@@claudballs5679 YOUR either ignorant or stupid. Go thru Zeppelins catalog and tell me all of there songs are covers. A few blues tracks of course . There entire catalog of songs ,no.
This entire performance literally gave me goosebumps all over! This was masterful. That entire orchestra was great, but I was particularly moved by the guy playing the pizzicato string bass. I played string bass in my high school band, so I have a deep affection for it. Indeed, a spotless performance by everyone involved!
Led Zeppelin Has so many Beautiful songs. They do make your mind Travel . Like you can Smell and see and touch and taste the visions in your mind . Like your having a outer body experience ?”… 🕊❤️🔥✝️❤️🔥🕊
Jamel, I'm trying to be a good human, but the world has got me feeling more like the tyranny of men, or maybe the vengeance of the LORD. But after listening to this song with you, I again feel like the shepherd. Thank you, brother.
Led Zeppelin are an iconic group having grown up in the Era was just amazing. The 60's and 70's were just an awesome time to grow up in my opinion. Great group with a great reaction. Thank you for keeping such a timeless classic alive for the younger generation to see and hear.
One of the greatest live shows I ever had the privilege of witnessing in 1995. I had already seen each of them on their solo tours in years before, but seeing them together was magical!
My favorite acoustic song ever. I remember when it came out trying to learn it in standard tuning, could never get it right, finally GP magazine tabbed it in the alternate tuning he uses and it's not a very difficult song to play. Having said that how in the world JP composed this in that odd tuning is simply mind blowing. And finally, to play it live in front of an orchestra like that flawlessly is another mind bender. Hard for me to say too much good about this composition.
I saw Page and Plant in 98 in Dallas. Was my first concert. I was 15 and got jimmy to wave at me during the intro of Going to California. 3rd greatest night of my life so far behind my twins being born and my son having his small intestine and liver transplant when he was 2. Been to hundreds of concerts the past 24 years and nothing has ever been close.
This is the FIRST post-Bohnam video I've ever watched. I never really wanted to see it for some reason. This time I tuned in bc my man Jamel put it out there!! That's it. By far the nicest guy and best reactor on the net!! I loved it. Jimmy and Robert absolutely nailed it. The orchestra was beautiful. Almost everything was right about this. RIP Bonzo!!
My favorite LZ song...and I was at the 1973 MSG concert when they did The Song Remains the Same/ The Rain Song in order and it was just astonishingly beautiful...I also saw this tour and it was just brilliant!
Thank you!!! I have been waiting for this one for awhile!! One of the most beautiful performances ever!!😎 Paige’s pick drop followed by Plant’s nod finish this song to perfection..
Hearing the lyrics talking about Winter and never really thinking those days will actually come really hit my heart...hard. My beautiful mother was always SO young, she even liked a lot of the same music as me. And now, suffering from Alzheimers, in a facility far from me...not recognizing anyone, not even her children, it's unbearable. All ya'll that are lucky enough to have your parents, siblings and any family and friends you love, alive and well, please say a special prayer tonight and every night, thanking God, the Universe or whatever you believe, for your time here on earth with them. And tell THEM every single day how much you love and appreciate them. You never know if tomorrow is too late 💜
I was fortunate enough to see the concert twice. Once in Knoxville, TN and once in Lexington, KY. There had been a couple of off days between their last performance and Knoxville. Plant did an interview where he said they hung out at Dolly Parton's cabin in the Smokey Mountains. I thought I could finally die after seeing"Since I've Been Loving You."
So jealous. I saw RP open for The Who in 2002 and it was a religious experience. I think each member added would have been ascension to another level of nirvana. I’m glad you had such a great experience.
One of the worst days of my life.....driving to work in an Ohio suburb, raining, Zeppelin tickets locked in my glove compartment and WMMS broke in the middle of a song that Bonzo (RIP) had died. I pulled off the road. As I watched many cars pass by, many pulled over. I knew we were connected at that nanosecond in time. No cellphones. Just pure intuition. I'm thankful I've been honored to see RP too many times to count. 2019 my husband and I saw him at The Mann in Philly. Mostly to gaze at a legend. Shocked at how very decent he still sounded. A great show! We didn't expect Zep tunes but we were blessed with 5. I cried through the Battle Of Evermore. We leave Tues to see him and Alison Krauss at Blossom in Ohio. I know it might be the last time. Him, us, who knows. More important issues in the world? Sure. To me? Not on the night to come, June 28, 2023. Thank God for my brothers who gave me the best music education. It's diverse. Generational years older than me but it's a cherished memory. I'm counting the days and happy to be going on a road trip. Younger somehow.... 🥲🙏
I’ve seen Robert Plant 4 times since 2013. His band is amazing and my Lord he is a diamond in this world. He has the perfect voice. I love Rain Song !❤️
I remember this listening to it. This song is what made me listen to more of them when I was a kid. Thank you for listening to it and bringing back my personal memories 💓 💖 💕. I believe this from early 90s under Page and Plant No Quarter. Just checked and yes 94 and I was working in my garage at 19 listening to this live on the radio broadcast of it.
This song always makes me cry tears of joy.... I never got to see LZ but I had the pleasure of seeing Plant & Page twice approximately 1994-1995. Once for the Unledded tour at the old Boston Garden [with the Boston Symphony Orchestra], and then a handful of months later at the new Fleet Center [now TD Garden] which was a full on eclectric show. That 1st Unplugged show with the BSO is arguably the best show I have ever been to considering the history of the band, the Orchestra & the venue... I was about 21/22 yrs old at the time and just thinking about it now makes my eyes water... There was sooo much love and unity in that arena that night that it was palpable... 💯☮🎶♥️
I want to say this was from the concert/tour "Get the Led Out". My best friend went to this and said he wished he didn't go because the rest of his life would suck compared to this one night it was that good.
I don’t like picking a favorite band because I love so much music but, I think if I had to choose a band that has spoken to me my whole life it would be Led Zeppelin. My father was a musician who played guitar and drums among his voice and he played a little keyboard too. Anyway he was my biggest and greatest musical influence on my life. He had an incredible music collection, he loved Zeppelin too. So I grew up with a lot of classic rock. I was a 10 year old kid listening to Zeppelin and Floyd and Beatles and just so many others. Too many to name. I’m 43 years old now and I suppose I can finally say that Led Zeppelin has gotten me through a lot of good and, a lot of hard times too. I’m going to go ahead and say yea they probably are my favorite band. 🖤🤘🏼🖤Thank You Jamal Aka Jamal for this video this song always gets me in the feels. It’s so beautiful. I love this video, with the symphony. It’s so Perfect, total awesomeness. Thank You 😊
Hey Jamel👋🏼, I saw Page and Plant at The Irvine Meadows in 95… It took an ENTIRE orchestra to replace Jonesy, but it was great! No Doubt opened for them. So good🎶💝
Anyone who claims Jimmy Page is sloppy should listen to this. Spot on accurate. That drummer was the best Bonham substitute, including Jason. RIP Michael Lee.
Michael's performance here has always been one of my favorites. Seeing him just beat the crap out of those drums with such enthusiasm and joy. Love it! I've watched this many over the years. Never gets old.
Legitimately one of the most beautiful songs in modern history, right there with unchained melody, yesterday, first time ever I saw your face…it’s a stunner.
Wow, that took me back. Remembered I have this on VHS! lol Forgot I had it til I started watching this. Page and that guitar will take you away and then Plant comes in, oh my, some of the greatest stuff ever. Saw them on the Walking into Clarksdale tour. Such a musical experience!!!
I love your reaction when he first starts to sing, that's always how I feel when I listen to them. It's like coming home to something familiar, such a lovely and unique sound.
I saw Page Plant live twice. Fantastic shows. One was with the Michigan Orchestra. I never got to see Led Zeppelin. I had tickets in my hand when Bonham died in 1980. I was 15 years old.
After the MTV Unplugged show, they took it on the road and did a tour- I got to see it, outdoors in California with my best friend, and it was one of the best nights of my life. Absolutely stunning
Just love this. People may wonder why Zeppelin was so great, listen to this version. Only two original members and it still rocks!!! Brings goose bumps
Jamal! This whole MTV concert is the BEST!!! Zep reimagined!! No John Paul….but that’s the point! Other instruments come in beautifully!! Better than O2 show for sure
This is my favorite LZ song...it's so mellow and beautiful....stunning. I don't take for granted that I was alive during an amazing time of artists and music.
In 1993, Jimmy Page released a successful album Coverdale.Page w/ Whitesnake singer David Coverdale... the same year Robert Plant's solo album 'Fate of nations' sold disappointingly. Apparently, there was some tensions between Page & Plant over the years, but I guess they decided in 1994 to put aside their differences and revisit their Led Zeppelin catalog w/ an 'Unledded' acoustic set for MTV that became a live CD under the Plant & Page moniker (Bassist John Paul Jones was not involved) and the duo played Zeppelin songs live in concert on tour in 1995. In 1998, they released their only studio album 'Walking into Clarksdale' as Plant & Page... but whoever expected a Led Zeppelin album was sorely disappointed... Without Jones and the late John Bonham, it didn't sound like Zeppelin... After a tour, Robert Plant ended the collaboration in 1999 and returned to his solo work. Today, Robert Plant admits that playing Zeppelin songs is demanding for his age, and it's also painful for him because every time he hears Zeppelin songs, he misses John Bonham... he's comfortable playing some Zeppelin songs by his solo band, but it took a long time for him to be comfortable w/ his past.
My favorite Zeppelin song is "Houses of the Holy." Songfacts says that was a name for their concert venues, but the song itself is lyrically allegorical and musically transcendent.
