Back in 87 I was an apprentice to a guy who owned an Irmcher Sport. He used to toss me the keys and send me out for his breakfast, and lunchtime for his dinner. Looking back now I’m so glad I got the opportunity to drive these rare cars. I also had a pedigree of Mk1’s, Manta, Escort, Gordini Turbo, 1275 GT Mini, Astra GTE ( I saw one in a trailer last week ) 205CTi, TT Roadster. My best mate was a Lotus guy, so I drove a few Lotus Sunbeams, a few S3 Espirit Turbo’s, bear in mind I was still a teenager

You know what I like most about your Channel, Adam? You always feature blokes who are really into their cars and know what they are talking about. None of this ... 'I've had a remap, put some stickers and a big exhaust on ' and then they rev it a lot nonsense (like most on RU-vid). Always a pleasure to watch!

@@rich.dodd1 GM family 2 engine. was used for for 30+ years. It was later tweaked by cosworth with a 16v head more commonly known as the red top and then its design further evolved into the ecotech. Although dated by todays standards people are still tuning and getting silly numbers out of it.

Nice! Saw a young Colin McRae rally a 1.3 Nova Sport in his first Scottish International Rally back in the 80s. I've wanted one of these ever since. Looks superb on the Revolutions- just like Colin had on his.

I had a H reg GTE had a big valve head, custom airbox, high lift cams from Bill Blydenstein, Rip. It made 130bhp and was ridiculously fast and fun.

John Musk I had exactly the same model, had 15 inch immolas, dropped 40 mm with a race cam, full scorpion and k and n induction kit. Loved it, also had an f reg 1.3 sr and 1.2 swing😍😍👌

My mate had one of these with carbs. It was a little ripper back in the day! Back in 2000, a good Nova was a head turner at McDonalds car parks. Miss those days. What do kids do these days? Get a Golf R on rental. The mod scene used to be so good. So unique because no one could really afford high end stuff so things were put together over time and really custom. Innovative. Could pick up a Nova back then for £450, put some lowering springs on it, stereo, K&N and a 'back box' and you were in the club!!

I love both them novas, my first car was a gsi rep when I was 17, I spent every penny I had on it, then I bought a phase 1 106 rallye and It felt like 500bhp not 100! I just lived around the corner from lee at the time, good old days ! 👍🏻

Really nice collection of Novas he has. My 2nd car was a 92 K plate silver GSi. £650 with the strut brace stopping the towers caving in. Used to destroy everything round my way back in 03, would pull off the clock... great times 😎 vauxhall gearboxes of that time were perfection. Currently have an 86 1.2 Antibes in the fleet, not quite as fast but its alive 🤣

i did some work at an old vauxhall dealership about 20 years ago. place had been shut a few years and everything in there was being skipped. the new owner told me to take anything i wanted. i got 4 pairs of vauxhall overalls, a devilbiss spraygun, various other things. and a full set of genuine nova sport decals in a box.

Lovely car i hope the guy keeps it for many years. 0-60 time for 100bhp should be 9.0 secs dead.True classic. Alot of Nova boys on here i myself prefer the Astra Gte 16v Mark II in White. I have a Gsi now Z20LET and love it, cherish the fookin thing but it keeps eating coil packs.

Back in the day a guy where unused to live had a 2.0 redtop nova with 1.0 badges on it. It looked completely stock. Seen him giving a few cars quite a fright when they raced

My mate had a 1.3sr nova, that made 108 bhp at the wheels with twin 40 dellorto carbs, a Kent cam and a few other bits. Trouble was it only made that power for a few weeks then it would fart its rods out. Went through several engines before he gave up on it. Those engine never seemed to like the extra power.

Had three novas, a merit, 1.4 Sr and a gsi, wish I'd never sold them, particularly the gsi. So many good memories smashing about in them, so much fun. Would love another one. Thanks for the video Adam, great watch

Great video Adam, I remember the nova sports when they were new, there was a Vauxhall dealership at the top of our road and I remember that the irmcher tuning kit was in the boot of the cars and the dealers had to fit the Weber's/stripes etc to the car, I always wanted a nova sport....wicked cars.

I had a c reg 1.2 and had seat covers from spares world lol. Put Astra gte wheels on and a peco exhaust. Sounded mint and I bloody loved it.

First car was a black 1.2 nova merit. Slammed on a set of 5 some wolf sport alloys with a peco big bore 4 back box and some lovely blue seatbelt cover things lol. Used to think I was the dugs baws driving up and doon the high street in it lol

Great little cars, love novas, but sr's, the sport, 1.6 gte and gsi all couldn't keep up with the 1.4 205 xs. It simply walked away from all of them, it's a pity it was in the 1.4 class and not 1.3 class as it would have wiped the board with all of them...

I had a 1.4 SR on twin Webber’s in white as my first car in 97. It lasted 4 days before I crashed it. I was only 17 so expected really 😂

Worst car I’ve ever driven. Can feel the steering knuckle wearing the toes of your shoes off when you turn the wheel. Never raced a sport but GSI and GTE were both shite. Smoked both regularly in a 1.3 swift GTi
