I am a very ordinary middle-aged Japanese living in Middle-East for long time. Though I don't understand the technicalities of technology in details, I am learning about the progress of science, technologies and the potential of human beings by watching your podcasts. I learnt the given power of human beings that transcends even science from you. Its sounds too simple to say but I think I will not give up now though many hopes were crushed. Because reaching conclusion is not at this point. Rather, it may start here and now. It's an honor to get to know such an amazing scientist like you through this podcast. May God bless you and your work. My heart is with you always.

@Trip4man
@Trip4man 2 года назад
Yeah if you want to simplify it to the limitttttt. Life, basically, is that. Particles with a memory if you will. Everything is a son/daughter of something carrying "genetic testimonies" from their ancestors ... Although we're leaving the evolution & variation aside, and that's the problem with simplifications... Humans for example are not exactly sponges or fishes like the primordial life. We did evolve and developed complex senses

@@EXISTENCE1891 That's another thing... A tree is alive but it has no consciousness. So consciousness is not exactly a parameter to describe life (in my opinion)... They operate at basic instinct levels

I thought this sounded profound, but it didn't really sound that insightful? I would say life is just an organism that can adapt to change, be that through changing itself or through mutations in replicating itself / reproducing. Maybe the next stage of life does not evolve through random mutation i.e. natural selection, but through self engineering i.e. editing one's self and one's genes etc.

keep going! This podcast is not silly, it is a work of art. This is what the world needs. Even though our current world is the most advanced it has been in our understanding of history, it is also a dark time for education. This podcast allows everyone to get a glimpse at some of the greatest thinkers in our present world. It allows us to see, listen and almost be a part of the conversation. Books cannot do this. This podcast is invaluable for many reasons. Without this level of thought, you present us each week we take one more step back into that abyss of forced Marxist learning that has taken over our society. Just imagine all of the emerging adults watching this gaining hope for a future where they can contribute to this level of thought. Don't ever stop.

I worked as a chemical operator doing organic chemical reactions. The first time I had to crystalize a chemical which was in its present state dissolved in a solvent the writeup told me to cool it to a certain temperature; but it didn't crystalize. I went to the process chemist because I thought I had made a mistake somewhere and he laughed and pulled a small bottle out of his desk and said to dump this in. He called it "seed". He said that the chemical needed to "remember" the crystal shape. This shocked me. The idea that a chemical needed to remember the shape of the crystal we needed it to form was a shock to me. Fascinating to think in that way about chemical reactions.

This may be one of the best podcasts ever. The very fact you ask these questions, bringing out the details that other listeners want to hear without knowing it is what makes them special. This, along with your humility to paraphrase and appreciate your guests is a very rare skill. Most people are only interested in their own views whereas you open the door for other beings to fully express theirs. Please keep going, the universe and especially this planet with it’s stumbling confused media need you! And I wish all the best to you and your family. Thank you for being a human being for real!

We will need this kind of free thinking and compassion as we move through this next phase of humanity and culture, which could be heaven or hell on earth.... Lex your podcasts are crucial and help me mentally. In all the chaos and news that use our minds to play to their narrative I can’t even barely watch Main Street media. They completely lost my trust. I just hope if you take a well deserved break no matter how long, you come back to us your audience who adore you. You are so honest and good. I would be proud for my son to grow up like you. Your work is definitely appreciated. Thank you. I think you deserve a break, I can only imagine how heartbreaking and mentally taxing this war in Ukraine is on you.
