The 2024 American disaster film has a screenplay by Mark L. Smith from a story by Joseph Kosinski. Produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, it is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister. Haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado, Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones) gets lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi (Anthony Ramos), to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. She soon crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a charming but reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures. As storm season intensifies, Kate, Tyler and their competing teams fight for their lives as multiple systems converge over central Oklahoma.
Chung is an American filmmaker. His debut feature Munyurangabo (2007) was officially selected at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and the first narrative feature film in the Kinyarwanda language. He gained fame for directing the semi-autobiographical film Minari (2020), for which he received numerous major awards and nominations, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film and nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay at the 93rd Academy Awards. In 2023, he directed an episode in the third season of the Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
