First thing I thought of when I saw the title was to get a Fretless haha. Jaco is definitely one of the most iconic and important bassists to have ever graced the Earth. Some might call him the Hendrix of Bass. Awesome work!

@@SRone45 I'd actually argue it's the other way around. Entwistle incorporated tapping into his playing, fun fact, and I think Jaco has more of an iconic and influential status similar to that of Hendrix. Don't get me wrong, Entwistle is legendary in every right.

I loved this, and I'm a guitarist. No effects, no BS, just play the music. Jaco's playing was inspiring and, you did a great job. Had that Weather Report album on cassette and wore it out. I never realised some of those high melody lines where pinched harmonics on the bass. Brilliant video.

@@mattfoley6082 Firstly, Jaco was known for not using much in the way of effects. Secondly, Anderson's have listed the gear used. But, I don't know much about bass effects so, you may be right. If I need to tell you what was wrong with the tone of your first reply then your attitude may need more work than I initially thought. That's my last word on the subject.

You can tell Lee is having a hell of a time playing "Come on Come Over" at even that fraction of actual tempo.

Vul guero no, it isn't the actual tempo. More over, he didn't play it properly. But the thing that make me laugh is that they played maybe the only jaco's piece recorded with a fretted bass... :/ Edit: he played the only 2 pieces recorded with a fretted bass, come on come over and portrait of Tracy... Wow

@@richard.5268 Come on come over was clearly played by Jaco on fretless, the intro just screams fretless. Portrait of Tracy is on fretted, you're right. Also Birdland was played on a fretted jazz, you can clearly hear Jaco bend the artificial harmonics, which wouldn't make much sense on a fretless. I think the guy in this video did a pretty good job. Sure he could have been more thorough and specific with riffs and tones, but still a good job on most of it

@@monz7951 search for an interview with jaco about his first album. He was asked about his basses, the fretless and the fretted, and he said that the only 2 pieces that he played with the fretted were portrait and come on come over... If you don't trust me, at least trust jaco :)
