Yes, I remember that diving board. I was forced to jump off of it, though I didn't want to and I was terrified, dressed in full gear with my boots on and a 40lb backpack on my back. When I hit the water and went down, I thought I was going to die before I got to the surface for air. I didn't die (obviously) but I'll never do that again. I can't pray those prayers, because it will make me promise God something that I can't deliver. I've already done that several times in my life and I don't know, but I think I'm going to be in big trouble over that failure some day, as I read in the Bible that you should not give God an oath and not keep it. The only thing I can pray is, "God, I will fully submit to You when You push me off that diving board the second time, and I'm under water, and I can't get to the surface, then I will rely on You, Your timing, Your courage, Your strength, Your will, to make me, to give me what I need, to do what I need to do." I want to submit. I just don't know how. So I can't tell Him I will. It's His Will, not mine, that matters. But I can pray the "Use me" prayers you give.
No word of a lie. I’m at work and I repeated the prayer at the end with lee out loud. When I finished the prayer I looked ojt to the highway in front of my work lot and saw a shuttle vehicle with a cross on it. I laughed out loud. God has a sense of humor and he’s always listening!!!
Mr. Strobel, you may think it's "weird" to "proselytize" on a street corner, but _Jesus,_ his disciples, and many prophets did the same thing. And many godly preachers still do it.
My friend years ago was considering investing in McDonalds but didn’t take the risk think the exact thought your dad did. Christians are challenged to risk taking by sharing the gospel with others.
I so appreciate God bringing Lee Strobel to faith through doubts, through rebellion, through questions, through questions, through questions. It's the only way he can use his language abilities to pinpoint, respond to genuine, head wrecking, heart wrenching questions, questions, questions in the face of a tsunami of adversity, waves increasing in intensity. He answers in ways that people who haven't had the same length of time in adversity don't reach on (yes, they have equal value, just different). Herein is a combination of raw truth, challenging truth, encouraging truth that point to answers to.... questions of the head and heart.
Hello sir, if you are saying that we don't earn our salvation by cleaning up our lives that is certainly true. But Jesus did not say that there is saving faith without a change of heart. You've quoted John 3:16. Please read on to verse 21. Faith is described as coming to the light opposed to doing evil in the dark. Turning to Jesus is also turning from the dark. I am not talking about perfect repentance. But in true faith there is always a real change in you. Read also 1.John 3:10 . If you didn't turn from sin to love and rightesnouess it proves you are not a child of God.
