@@maxjulianc Go on and light another match.. I usually smoke after i eat. come back in about 10 minutes. In ten minutes you'll be smoking in hell. Get up! On your feet. Chico count to three
Gotta love Lee Van Cleef! Actually my favorite scene is when Kinski later encounters Van Cleef. “Well if isn’t the smoker.” He then challenges Lee, who’s eating, to light another match on his hump, and Lee says: “I usually smoke after I eat. Come back in about in ten minutes.” One of my most favorite movie lines!
@@atheeoslsarkkos7739 Eastwood was good for the roles he played. In the Dollar Movies he did a good job. He never tried to be a great character actor and knows his boundaries.
@@atheeoslsarkkos7739 leone has never intended to cast eastwood for the role of "frank" played by fonda, also not for the role of "harmonica" as some sources indicated. in fact leone was aware eastwood wasn't available because of his work on the movie "hang 'em high". nevertheless leone wanted lee van cleef, eli wallach and eastwood (the 3 main actors of the good the bad and the ugly) to play the 3 killers from the oppening scene. while van cleef and wallach have agreed, eastwood denied and leone discarded the idea.
The way Van Cleef draws on his pipe while keeping his eyes fixed on Kinsski. A display of complete dominance and of humiliation for the other guy. Great scene.
The tension. Klaus seething and twitching with anger. The other bandits guys angry at cleefs disrespectful behaviours but controlled and clint amazed at his audacity. Van vleef meanwhile cool as ice. Love it.
I really liked Lee Van Cleef as he played in movies.I am very sorry that he is no longer alive.Such a person and an actor as Lee Van Cleef are irreplaceable.
I've been at that very bar in that very saloon where Van Cleef lit the match on Kinski's back. It's still there. It's in 'Mini Hollywood' Andalusia in Southern Spain close to a place called Tabernas. The whole film set is still there for that matter.
I just love these old timer cowboy movies. All they have to do is to stare the crap out of each other to communicate. Just one wrong gesture and you get dusted. Lee Van Cleef has always been a very mysterious character in my opinion. Cleef is a legend all his own.
This scene has SO much happening with the background of a busy main street and packed saloon doing a brisk business. The incidental music of the tuba is perfect-making the viewer feel equal parts humor and seriousness but we know Mortimer is simply too cool for anything bad to happen.
Saw this in the theater when it first was released. One of the most memorable scenes in any movie. VanCleef and Kinski were just superb - no words spoken.
Lee Van Cleef is one of the best and Klaus Kinski's ability to twitch and seethe on demand were probably pretty natural for this troubled man. Great actor but very troubled life.
This is the underrated film in the 'Man w No Name' trilogy! The other two may have been rated higher, but they had slow points/scenes,..... I loved every second of this movie!
This face acting of all the actors involved is the best of all time! Fun fact: Klaus Kinski and Lee Van Cleef fought the World War 2 in opposite sides. So maybe the fight was in another leves besides fiction!
That's the most savage scene I've seen. I mean... He lights up his smoking pipe ON his bump. Who the Hell do that ? I mean ... What ? And the perfect timing with Clint.. LoL. Savage ! Dude that's Pure Provocation until the end.. With NO word. Genius !
Although Cleef and Eastwood are the pop-stars of the movie, the best acting performances belong to Volonte and Kinski, two of the best actors of all time. Unfortunately Kinski has a minor role, but it is enough to draw the attention to him. In the two scenes where he is confronted with Cleef, his performance is so powerful that he makes Cleef look like a naughty scout boy. His facial tic due to uncontrollable rage is so realistic (I suppose it wasn't difficult for Kinski to do it as he was half-crazy in reality) , it is the best facial expression I have seen in a movie.
This scene is litteraly the Wehrmacht versus the US Navy, and you know who wins in the end. Kinsky entered the Wehrmacht at 16 and Van Cleef the Navy at 17. They had the same age.
Kinski was even more crazy in his private life. His interviews are legendary and are still on RU-vid today. Or the Kinki parodies by Max Giermann. Truly two excellent actors here.
The talent of Leon as a director was far ahead of its time. He knew which person would fit what character. And the makeup for the actor to fit the character. It was this movie that made these actors famous, even a actor playing insignificant roll, was able to shine in this film.
Award winning acting here. Notice not a word was spoken the entire time other than the background voices. When actors deliver this kind of memorable performance its an unforgettable award winning ticket. Fantastic movie & anytime you see old evil eye Kinski you know he's gonna do some old shootem up sh*t.
Lee van Cleef: an actor specialised in playing villanous roles, though he was actually a really nice guy in real life. And Klaus Kinski: an actor specialised in playing villanous roles, though he was probably an even bigger monster in real life.
Well, so far, I've heard he used to get high and flip out allot and he may have had a thing for children. I'm still waiting for someone to explain how he's any different from anyone else in Hollywood. They're literally all like that.
@@kubanskiloeweno. he was unhumanly angry. all the time. Kinski is not acting in this scene, only holding himself back. he is one of the best actors through time, but was a most disturbed persona

Tal vez Leone eliminó relativamente rápido de la película al villano Kinski porque no podía mantener por mucho tiempo juntos a dos malos de antología, de la categoría del alemán y el inconmensurable Gian María Volonté, otra bestia.
When lighting a pipe is a straight up death threat. The only thing which rivals that scene in cinema, was Bruce Lee eating a bag of chips in Fists of Fury, just before dispatching a gang of bad guys.
