M/S of woman in yellow coat walking towards the door to an old building, she enters.
M/S of one of two streets which have been recreated indoors to depict the 18th and 19th centuries. Women and men walk up and down the street in period costume. M/S of two men in period costume sitting outside a blacksmith's shop, one is wearing a top hat, he is played by Alderman H.S. Vick, Chairman of the Museums Committee. The second is a man wearing glasses and smoking a pipe, he is H. Cocerham, a museum attendant. The blacksmith is visible hammering inside the shop, he is Kenneth Wilson, museum lecturer to schools. C/U of the two men outside. M/S of the blacksmith smoking a pipe and working in his shop. C/U of the blacksmith pumping the bellows in the forge. C/U of the bellows.
M/S of a weaver's cottage through the window. An old fashioned bicycle is propped up outside, and a woman walks past in the foreground. M/S of the inside of the weaver's cottage, an elderly lady sits down in a rocking chair in front of a spinning wheel. M/S of the lady weaving wool on the wheel.
M/S of a lamp on the outside of a house. M/S of Mr Maynard Mitchell who is director of museums, checking accuracy in the clay pipe shop. M/S of Mr Mitchell taking a pipe from the shelf, C/U of him examining it. C/U of him replacing the pipe and C/U of the pipe shelf.
M/S of wheelwright's cottage he is at work inside hammering part of a wheel. C/U of the wheel being fitted together. C/U of him hammering and wiping his brow.
M/S of two ladies walking along the street past some shops. Men in period costume also pass along the street.
C/U of the two ladies looking through the window of the violin maker's shop. M/S of the violin maker at work in his shop tuning the strings of the violin, he is played by Mr A.Wood, a museum attendant. There is a rack of violins behind him.
C/U of exterior of street with signs saying 'Mason & Taylor Apothecaries' and 'Harewood Square' above an old fashioned lamp.
M/S of the interior of the apothecaries shop with various bottles and a mortar and pestle.
