Manchester United were very fortunate to be allowed to compete for the FA Cup ever again after they withdrew for a season to concentrate on 'more important' trophies. United never withdrew by choice. they were forced to withdraw by the f.a to keep things sweet with fifa in englands bid for to host world cup . and whilst we are on the subject united produce plenty of homegrown talent unlike chelski , city etc
