If you find this useful, encourage me by subscribing and liking this video : rebrand.ly/interviewdose . Trust me you don't need to practice thousands of questions but just follow these simple techniques and practice the questions shared in my channel to clear your next interview.

When I first read the question I was expecting to receive two lists, one list of events, and one list of my scheduled activities. I then imagined checking if given my activities I was able to make it to all the events. Interview question can be tricky if you don't ask clarification questions. In this case I was overcomplicating things from the get-go.

first step should be: turn off auto-capitalization, and switch to monospace font. Will interviewers allow that?

Ohh why not - But that's not the first step :) . Once you setup this stays for ever - I did this in my session so that every one should know this setup for Google interview it helps .

So what is it that the interviewer is looking for in this type of Google Doc coding interview? In other words, why does Google choose to use this instead of Leetcode or Hackerrank where you have IDE syntax help? What is the interviewer looking for in this case?

A good coder does not need an editor to express his/her thought process and write few lines of code with a language that he is familiar with. I think thats the main purpose.. I have heard from some of my friends that sometimes they do copy your code and run it after the meeting to check if you have written a compilable code when they are already convinced you did good in the interview. ( So its good to practice the coding without an editor, you will see a lot of difference in your own performance )

Java wastes lot of time coding. I prefer python for algorithmic coding

Agree, I have been coding in almost all language .. But a suggestions to the candidates if you are already efficient in one language say java don't try something new just for the interview .. If you are starting I would highly recommend python or java script for interviews as less code and do more languages they are ..
