He has repeatedly said that he doesn't deny the rumours bécause he doesn't wanna give an impression that being gay is bad or wrong. Either to their queer fans or even to the non-queer fans.
Heechul has said that he doesn't accept or deny these rumors because he doesn't want someone from the community to think they should be ashamed of themselves. He's a very sweet guy

While actual gay people have to deal with being called straight and just pretending or following trends. As I say though, your friend group isn't like...on public TV so it's different. I get groups have their own weird jokes and it just depends the context. However, if joking that Heechul is gay is only funny because he isn't gay that's...kind of messed up. I don't really know how to explain it here and I'm sure a youtube comment won't get you to change your views but there's definitely a possible homophobic layer to that joke both in your scenario and in the one with Heechul. It's a very common trope in bls, a "straight" playboy who can't stay with one woman finally realises he is in love with his male best friend, who was secretly in love with him for a long time. That said, I know he is probably 99% straight, but sexuality is a spectrum and sometimes even if it's not your original sexuality, you can grow to love someone who doesn't fit your "type". I think you may be talking about Siwon on this one. He is very religious so he says that supporting LGBT means denying his religion. But he does also says that he doesnt discriminate lgbt ppl, but he just cant support it (like same sex marriage) since it would go against his religion.... so yeah he's basically homophobe without saying he hates gays. The rest of SuJu are very lgbt friendly though. Even these two on the video are very open about sexuality and say that its not supposed to be treated as bad. Tbh, lgbt on korea is still a hard thing to talk about because as a very conservative country, they are taught that its not something okay and they arent really wiling to change that as even the youth thinks the same. I'm glad idols have more contact with the outside world and do want to learn and change their point of view for fans comfort.
