This game is literally 12 years old, but it's still one of the best co-op shooter games out there. (in my opinion)

So about how it started, the comics talks about how it’s a virus that was originally airborne, and it’s constantly mutating, which is why A) the special infected eventually arrived, even though it took about 2 weeks after it started for them to appear, and B) the virus is, according to them, is unable to be cured. The Sacrifice (the comic, not the campaign) talks more about it I think. I’ve only seen a few pages of it but yeah I’d recommend reading it.

Most of the infected were voiced by Mike Patton of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, etc. Coach in the second game was voiced by Chad Coleman who later played Tyrese in The Walking Dead.

I spent countless nights with my friends playing the hell out of these games back in highschool. It was a borderline obsession lmao. So many good memories 🤘 As a side note, these trailers literally explain to you how to play game. They teach you about practically everything that happens in the game.

Not sure if it’s been said but in the original plans, the movie “zombieland” was supposed to be a Left4Dead movie. While they changed the idea they still kept the main focus of a group of 4 survivors making their way through the apocalypse trying to reach a single goal while also using bizarre forms of transportation throughout the movie

Fun fact about the clown zombies: Their shoes squeak as they walk, making them attract more zombies to them if they start running. And if you shove them, you hear a cartoony honk noise. Such a nice touch haha

Somethings I feel people haven’t mentioned that is neat in my opinion: There’s three types of infected in game: common, uncommon and special. Uncommon are ones I really want to touch on because of how cool but overlooked they are. Ceda workers in hazmats suits, mud people in swamps, construction workers, riot guys and the clowns are considered uncommon each of them have specific maps they spawn in and have their own little catch. Clowns attract other infected, mud men blind and so forth. But that’s not all! There’s uncommon uncommon that don’t spawn all the time in jimmy gibbs jr and the fallen survivor! Jimmy was a stock car driver that’s important to the story who only has a 5% chance of spawning in a certain map. (He’s also Elis’ idol and he will sometimes openly cry when he has to shoot him) The fallen survivor is special in a way because he actually will actively run away from you if injured, you will want to hunt him down because he often carries things like Molotovs, pipebombs, and medical supplies

It maybe old but it's still one of the best god-tier zombie survival games you can play out there

The Big dudes are called Tanks and the woman you heard crying in the first trailer are called Witches and they're considered the most dangerous zombies in the first game and the easiest avoided (in a sense) because as long as you stay silent you can slowly walk around her but make any noise and she breaks out the claws and will basically hunt you to the end of the earth ......in the first game the final boss is a tank that you HAVE to kill

Both games came out before the Walking Dead TV show. They are broken down into campaigns and each campaign is staged like a movie. The sacrifice is the name of one of the campaigns and "its your funeral" is the tagline for that movie. There's another campaign called "No Mercy" and the tagline is "Curing the infection...one bullet at a time." Each of the campaigns are loosely connected to each other but the story is very light. The game is mostly about getting through the campaign and reaching the finale at the end to escape.

i have this game on my xbox one and i’ve grown up playing this as a kid and this is the best zombies game i have ever played and i still play to this day and it excites me that y’all have reacted to the trailers of both left 4 dead games

Remember the loud yelling type of zombie who jumped on louis aka the black guy was actually the hunter almost every left 4 dead fans know about because of its earpeicing screams and strong legs. It reminds me of a life sized rabbit also here is a Fun fact: the hunter cannot see since infected the reason for that is not blindness its eyes well...were brutally clawed out and thats why you get the hood on hunter

First of all left 4 dead 1 and 2 are amazing games! Second of all, it's kind of weird how characters clothes in the first left 4 dead 2 trailer was different than the clothes in the final game? And lastly, the trailers did a good job of showing stuff that happens during gameplay. For example in left 4 dead 1 there was the animation for when you pick someone back up when they go down as well as introducing the special infected types! Great video as always guys! It's funny that you guys talk about The Walking Dead a lot, since both Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 released before The Walking Dead TV show did.

The spiritual successor for this game called Back 4 Blood is coming out soon so maybe some of those trailers may be worth a watch

Actually, Left 4 Dead (the first game) came out in 2008, while the first season of Walking Dead premiered in 2010, so if anything, Daryl's vest is based on Francis. Though there's probably no real connection beyond both characters being bikers, and thus wearing leather jackets or vests. If anything, both are a reference to the Bikers, the main human antagonists from Dawn of the Dead (1978).

The hulk zombie are called "Tanks" and they have muscle hypertrophy and extremely suppressed myostatin which means they grow way too much muscles and have increased hormone levels. Their brains get severely damaged from their skull being squeezed by the muscles all around it making it the most aggressive and dangerous special infected.

L4d2 is a game i can always jump on and have a good time. It never gets old

This game holds a real special place in my heart. Back when it was coming out Valve advertised it a LOT, including on billboards. I dont remember which l4d it was but i was being driven by my dad to NYC one year and the billboard of the hand with no thumb creeped me out when i was younger hahahah that memory is burned in my mind

Fun fact: in both L4D 1 and 2, there is a reference to Team Fortress 2. Example 1: in one of Ellis' voice lines, he will say "Man, this is just like Team fortress 2!" Also another fact: if you look closely at Francis' head, he has the Valve logo carved into his head Again, another fact: the cigarettes bill smokes is "Romaro brand cigarettes" being a reference to the late George A. Fun fact: in many different countries, left 4 dead had to be censored or altered (in the UK, box art was changed because a backwards peace sign is the equivalent of a middle finger, in Japan, the box art does not having a missing thumb, it is just not shown, and in Germany, the SWAT zombies do not have writing on their armor as violence against authority figures is practically forbidden in their versions of games)

The only type of zombies that doesn't go down even if you hit them in the head or burn them are the "Return of the Living Dead" zombies, hell the virus/toxin from that movie franchise can literally animate any dead organic life even without the heart nor brain. Left 4 Dead Modders once made a survival map challenge based on it and it's freaking hard.

You can play with just 2 people.BUT there are always 4 survivors (Depending on what game mode you play) so two will be Ai controled. You can also play the special zombies as well.

heres a screwed up little fact, the main cast of both games are asymptomatic carriers of the zombie virus. They can likely still spread it to people in their presence, and this immunity is genetic. the girl in the first trailer's father was bit and asked her to shoot him, but she later found out he was likely immune like her. Didn't take that well.

Left 4 dead came out in 2008 and it is definitely much better than many current games, apparently, they spent more time and love in its design. It is amazing.

It's a coop game with 4 persons where you either play survivor or infected. Basically, survivors should run from safe points to safe points, and infected should stop them

fun fact: L4D1 is a horror co-op zombie shooter, with few guns and no hope for a better future, that's why l4d1's intro is so dark. Meanwhile, L4D2 is the complete opposite of the first part with cool music, bright lighting, lots of guns and hope

the way the game works is you don't have to shoot them in the head think of it like this if you've ever seen the movie 28 days later these zombies are similar to that they are technically still alive but the virus pushed them into a state of extreme aggression to the point that they will try to kill anyone they see and on some rare occasions you can see a couple random infected just stop wandering and start fighting each other for seemingly no reason

That game is gold. I have a lot of good times playing it. Even though L4D is old and it’s still fun to play

To this day I still hold it in my heart as an unchanging belief that L4D2 is the best game for if you want to see who you'd want to travel with in a zombie apocalypse. If someone doesn't care about teamwork and runs off alone, they're not invited. If someone hoards all the best weapons and supplies, they're not invited. If someone doesn't communicate danger well, they're not invited. If someone doesn't *pay* attention to things that will *draw* attention, e.g. sets off car alarms purposely, they're not invited. Of course all this is hypothetical and doesn't translate well into "just playing the game and having fun", but otherwise it's a good way to tell who would be dependable! Side-note; L4D2 is also 100% the best co-op zombie shooter game available, and on steam it's nearly always on sale or cheap as it was made/distributed by Valve, who own steam. As of writing, I checked for the hell of it and it was 90% off, costing only £0.85/$1.00, which is absolutely ridiculous value for money for such an incredible game.

Here’s a tip. The one with the long “tongue“ is a smoker. The tongue is really just a long fungus. No prize for guessing what they did in their life

So fun fact about The Sacrifice mission. Bill the old soldier dude in the first group canonically dies during that mission. At the end of the entire level you get to the bridge and need to use a generator to raise it so you can get away from the zombies but halfway up the generator dies so one of the players has to drop down and refill the generator in order to make the bridge start rising once again and get out of reach of the zombies. Later on when you come through the level again as the New Orleans crew you can find Bill dead at the generator.

I love it how in every L4D2 Intro, Ellis (the man with a t-shirt in L4D2) is always the target of every special infected just like: smoker (long tongue zombie), charger (zombie with one huge arm), jockey (little zombies that ride people) and etc... What a goat Ellis ❤

Man this game is such a fun masterpiece to play with friends I still have it on my Xbox 360

Interesting thing about Zoey (ponytail girl) is that she has probably one of the deepest stories of the survivors in either Left 4 Dead. In the comic that you can read on the l4d site, we see that she’s a college student and horror movie fan. She starts the apocalypse by honoring her father’s request to kill him after being bitten, tragically finding out right before the Sacrifice campaign that he genetically could’ve survived the bite unchanged. Through the game, Bill (the old army guy) acts as a father figure to her, which makes it even worse when he sacrifices himself for her and the others (but especially her) against those massive zombies in, appropriately, the Sacrifice.

These Zombies you don't have to shoot in the head, they technically aren't even undead. The Zombie Outbreak in Left 4 Dead is a Rabies like Pathogen known as 'The Green Flu' So you can technically be an asymptomatic carrier. So even if you're 'immune' to the virus you're most likely still a carrier.

This game is old, but still gold. You will never see mold, since it’s always sold

Fun Fact: The reason why there's different campaigns in every group isn't just because of the game should be but also, these survivors are already infected but shows none of the effect. They infect their surroundings instead that's why everytime they get rescued, it always fails that leads them to another run of survival. Been playing since 2011 and still one of the best Zombie coop ever.

“Zombie Clowns?!” Yes. The second (or third if you have The Passing DLC) campaign of Left 4 Dead 2 is called Dark Carnival. It involves you arriving at a zombie infested amusement park. You fight your way through the fairgrounds and there are lots of clown zombies that attract even more zombies because their shoes squeak when they walk. You can also bash their faces and make their nose honk, which is pretty hilarious. Eventually you must fight your way through the Tunnel of Love which is also infested with both clown zombies and normal ones. Once you leave the tunnels, it has the best ending in my opinion of all the campaigns. You get to start up a light show concert. Full of lights, fireworks, loud music and, of course zombies. The light show catches the attention of an, at first, human helicopter pilot and are flown out of there in sweet style. Not to mention that there are at least 3 games available to play around the fair. And one even rewards you a gnome if you beat it. Such a fun campaign and game all around.

Both groups are roughly in the same area, but both cover a variety of different environments on their way to safety from the zombie outbreak. The maps have a canonical order and often end with the escape vehicle of the last map breaking down or something along these lines. The map The Sacrifice is canonically the last of L4D and requires one player to stay behind and keep the horde off a couple of generators (if memory serves right) so the others can escape. This makes it the only official map you can't complete without another player, as the AI is incapable at anything beyond staying close to the player(s), so you can't leave a bot at the generators. Canonically, it's Bill (the bearded guy) that does that and the same area is revisited in the second game, with his corpse siting at the generators. That's the trailer that ended with Bill countercharging three of the Tanks (Hulk-Zombies) with a molotov-cocktail. The Zombie Clown are part of a map that takes the group through an amusement park. I haven't played in a while,. but I think their shoes squeak really loud when they run (after spotting a survivor), which attracts more zombies.

3:26 The infected jumping over buildings and screaming is called "hunter". He prefers to attack people who leave the team. Also, his eyes cannot see due to mutation. that's why she screams "to scare" because she doesn't know what's going on in front of her. It can detect the other person using its sense of smell. Nice video sir 😍👌

The cool thing about Left4Dead is a few things. 1) It's literally done as a movie. Where the movie poster is the loadscreen, and it shows your account name (as if you're an actor) playing as a character. 2) The first game came with the second game. This game was practically put into many other games. So it was easy to have a friend with the game and not know they had it and just play together. The Orange Box comes with all Left4Dead content, Portal, and Team Fortress. All of these games are co-op and great fun. Lastly there will be 4 players, the players will be bots that aren't filled up. It Usually says Zoey as herself on the movie poster for the characters you didn't pick. You need teamwork to manage resources AND to save each other. Since someone can be badly hurt and so they can't be risky and the one with more HP and med kits should be in the front, ect. Also you can NOT survive a special zombie alone, such as the Witch shown in the first trailer (if you shine light or look at her directly she can hold someone down and they will die unless someone else saves them). So it's better with human players when you decide who gets what weapon as you move along, or saves someone faster with better shooting, or groups better so it's easier for accountability of each other (instead of the AI letting a person go alone or being too far apart to get pulled by a special zombie). 3) Game gets dumb fun when you act like you're in a movie. Many times when you get good you actively try to act like the incompetent zombie guy who lets the zombies in the safe room. Or act like the hero "go on without me" or "tell my babe back at home that I love her". It just evolves into a dumb mess when you do that. Or like nearly every zombie movie "accidentally" setting off car alarms or tripping and you have to go back for [person X] even if it means everyone getting wiped. 4) Following the movie point there's always 5 acts in each map. Each map is a film. Generally the mid point is the plot twist and more noticeable in L4D2. One of the main criticism of L4D2 is that many maps involve daylight and more color, takes away from the atmosphere and people generally liked the original 4 man cast more. That being said the game direction was done that way so when the mid point of the game came it usually was at sunset when everything went FUBAR. So it created a larger dynamic. So I didn't share that opinion about daylight, but I did prefer the original cast because their in game interactions were gold.
